    I don't think there is any more juice to squeeze out of heart rate data. I think the next big exciting thing will be commercial wearable sweat sensors. If blood lactate, glucose, and hydration/electrolyte balance, can be accurately derived from sweat data then that would be huge!!

    Another great episode. Just a point, the thumbnail & title don't make this seem like a podcast, only the runtime suggests so at first glance.

      @@thefitfile I would ditch the half portrait and just have you guys bigger left and right. Headshot only. And have a microphone in the image on both sides as a visual cue, if need be. Though it would be interesting to see the data how many people think it's a short video v how many would commit to starting a podcast episode. I bet if the entry is fast and good, you could convert more people wanting a short review into long form watchers. I would wager the friction of committing to a podcast episode is higher than a short video. Many don't have RUclips premium. Only one way to find out.

    Sleep phase advanced data disappearance is a general thing with Flow. Does the same with Ignite 3.

    Did either of you review the Jabra Elite Sport with HR? I know they are old (2018), but I always thought the in ear HR was good on those. Still works well all these years later.

    I saw an article in the paper about non-diabetic people who are using glucose patches as a way of increasing their fitness, diet, etc. Is that something that either of you will cover? Apologies if you have done it already.

    Am I the only one who wants to see you both disagree on a device?. Surely there must be a product that one of you loves and the other doesn't? (That isn't due to a hardware failure?). Hmm.. maybe even which is your favourite watch UI?

    Great job guys.. but come on Ray.. what about the V4 and V5 Virtual shifting?.. I bought the controllers because you said it would be happening soon.. that was like 2 months ago now?.. Yeah I know it's not your fault.. lol.. but honestly what do you think the holdup is?.. are they just wanting all the V4 & V5 owners to upgrade their trainers? Love the Podcast! Keep up the Great work!

    • @boffintim
      @boffintim 3 месяца назад +1

      To be fair, I thought he always said that the V6 virtual shifting was coming soon but that you'd need to wait much longer for it to come to the V4/V5.

      I've always wondered.. since Zwift already controls your trainer and trainer difficulty.. why couldn't virtually shifting gears be a Zwift thing by itself?.. seems like it could be a controller function or a keyboard shortcut.. but maybe my thinking of how it all works is wrong.. lol.

    Really wanted to bet on Polar with these latest releases, after having been a huge fan of the Verity Sense.
    Definitely not an apples to apples comparison when it comes to the watches, but something is really off on their development side. They should be able to carry forward what had previously been stable and reliable core parts of the platform.

    I got confused, if you have a zwift hub and a normal chain and the zwift play you can use zwift virtual shift
    But if you buy the clicker can you end up using other apps or still zwift only??
    My question is if you have zwift play already you don't gain anything with that standalone clicker right?

    • @thefitfile
      @thefitfile  3 месяца назад +2

      Correct, you won’t gain much with the Click other than an additional “shifter”. The Play controllers do that and more.

    Gave up waiting for the Grit X2 Pro in Canada. Still not available to buy, and besides that the more I hear the worse it gets against my Epix Pro.

      i have the Grit X2 Pro, very nice watch, Polar's easy interface, new features, but still i cannot trust the HR on high intensity activities. I also have a Garmin Fenix 7 Pro, which is realy great on the HR, what i dont like from Gamrin is the interface, very complicated, and things are all over the menus.

    Are Heart Rate Earbuds The Future? No. That will be a big fat NO! We only need 2 data points to be REALLY reliable for sport; GPS and HR. Everything else is fluff or rubbish (Hey Garmin, I'm looking you with your hysterical on-wrist temperature sensor/algorithm!)
    Earphones simply aren't life proof, never mind sport proof. They break, get lost, lose their partner, the dog chews them, Bluetooth breaks, batteries degrade, etc. They are the worst place to put heart rate monitoring. I can't tell you how many pairs of Sony / Bose / Sennheiser Beats / Soundcore earbuds I've got through over the years. So after three recent sets of broken / mashed / lost Sony Linkbuds (yea the funny little donut ones, they really are FANTASTIC for sport) I'm back to ordering the £40 out-of-production Soundcore A1 which are almost as good for a third of the price.
    Earbuds are for sound. Sennheiser might as well put flashlights on them, it would be cheaper and more use to more people. (You can have that idea for free)
    Heart rate is staying on wrist or if it matters, on chest, where it belongs, next to the heart.
    Putting a key data point in the most fragile thing we use and then pricing at a few hundred pounds / dollars is a great way to lose both data and money.
