I remember growing up listening to Haywire, I had no idea that they were from PEI, and I live in Charlottetown, so when i found out in my late teens I was surprised and filled with pride! Then here about 5 years ago I started a new job, and the guy at the desk beside me began chatting with me,...we talked everyday for about 2 weeks, until one day somebody said...he is Haywires lead vocalist! Ya it was Paul Macausland...I ran to my desk and was like Paul...wtf man...you didn't tell me you sang with Haywire!! LOL...funny story! Hes a good guy...smokes my brand too we were smoking buddies haha!
guess it was safe to say, you just lived and not care what is what, now man I was already and adult in 20' and Haywire is one them canadian bands I enjoy along with Chalk Circle, GT, PB< Sherrif, Frozen Ghost and many more canada bands who have been forgotten, none so as much as chalk circle.
Alex Van Hagar Paul looks very different than back in the 80’s, you wouldn’t recognize him if you fell over him. The 80’s and 90’s were a long ass time ago.
Call me crazy.... but man this is a great tune!! Simple stuff, really.... but they put their stamp on it, and it rocks! I love it. I gotta go find these guys now, and download some stuff. This one is a BLAST to play along with on the guitar. Just crank er up, and lay down some power chords and pentatonic lead licks. Simple, but a ton of fun. Love it.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of Haywire's very first music video! Not too many major Canadian music acts hail from Prince Edward Island, Canada's smallest province...this was one of them! Paul MacAusland (lead vocals), Marvin Birt (guitar, backing vocals), Ron Switzer (bass), Dave Rashed (keyboards, backing vocals) and Sean Kilbride (drums, percussion)...they were all going Haywire way back then!
Great song. Like the video too. Just discovered these guys, and recently bought 3 of their albums. Love my Canadian rock, and happy to learn Haywire are Canadian.
This song takes me back to my carefree days. Love was in the air, wild car rides, drive-in movies. Ah, when I listen to Haywire, I am still in love and going on a wild ride. Terrific.
It's July 2021, listening for the 1st time ever....all because JD Fortune is going to be playing live shows with this group soon!!! He's an incredibly talented vocal, and songwriter who has come through the fire, and is ready for whatever comes next! Very proud of him! 😎
I remember when this song was playing on rock station 92 CITI- FM in Winnipeg and I went out and purchased the album. I thought the band was from Moncton, NB, but PEI is fine, too. It's interesting to see the revival of roller skating in the video, which took off in Winnipeg big time.
The amount of hairspray used in this video alone, possibly altered the temperature of the globe forever. Simply astonishing we used to do that to ourselves. But still, 80’s music was and is, the best music. Pitter patter boys!
I worked with paul ..he's a good guy , didn't know it was the lead singer till someone told me ,I see him all the time downtown . Hay paul , should have a beer sometime..
This band played....video taped the BAD BAD BOY ....at the Terrace in Toronto....A roller rink I went to for decades....unfortunately it was closed for good april, 1989....a moment in time
Dana Courtoreille Video Hits was on CBC (not MuchMusic) after school. I thought I remember it being on at 4 pm. We couldn't waste much time getting home from school, which let out at 3:30, because we didn't want to miss any of it. Air time changed over the years and was on as late as 5:30 in the later years, I think. Original host was Samantha Taylor right? She joked about how one of the backup singers in Wham's 'Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go' video was her twin because they looked so much alike. At least I think it was a joke.
This video was recorded at The Terrace roller rink in Toronto. :) I came very close to being an extra in the video, but my father made me leave at the time. Bummer! Shame they shut down the rink.
Been a long time since I saw this one, but after hearing "Dance Desire" on the radio yesterday I had to see what was up on RUclips. But so '80s! Half the people in the video have perms!
2024 and I'm still rocking to this song.
Hell yeah brother!
Canada truly had the best bands in the 80;s
Yeah it doesn't even come close, so many gems.

There’s two types of music listeners, those listening to what’s familiar to them when they grew up, and those who’s musical taste has grown with them.
Yes!!!
Every time I watch this video nostalgia hits hard. The 80’s were a fantastic time to be a teenager

Paul was in my class and David and I smoked cigarettes' behind holy redeemer church every Sunday
The pride of Prince Edward Island but better than that, they were spectacular. I still listen to their music and it makes me smile. Talented galore.

I knew Ron LeBlanc back in the days. He drummed for Haywire before Sean...he played on a few tracks from their debut album 👍🏼
Gotta feel those drums....
Great song. Like the video too. Just discovered these guys, and recently bought 3 of their albums. Love my Canadian rock, and happy to learn Haywire are Canadian.
Can't wait to see these guys in dartmouth 2024
Anyone listening to this in 2024?
I heard this song on the radio while driving to work this morning. Made my morning commute feel like a mini roadtrip.
Still sounds amazing every time I listen to this awesome song ✌️
These guys could've been such a hit in the U.S. if the record industry people didn't act like a bunch of idiots. These guys are excellent musicians.
Their breakthrough hit! I love this!
Saw them when they won 'Battle of the Bands' in Saint John!! Awesome!!
FYI - Haywire is getting a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Canadian East Coast Music Awards, and is working on a new album!
Best Song ever

I loved 'Skate Country'- the name of the rink. This band makes me happier to be an Islander. Happy you are on RUclips.
I loved skate country too.. but this was shot in Ontario so i was told

I've had the CD for years. I lost my record. I never knew that there was a video. Long live the 80's good times.
How could you not know there was a video? it was probably played 5 times a day on muchmusic.
