- This is the upscaled opening for Suikoden III / Suikoden 3, and it's done so in 4K. If some shots appear smudgy or blurry, they are either drawn so to begin with or are mixed with some 3D force the denoiser to smooth them out more than necessary. The final render has been manually sharpened for each individual scene in the clips.

I've played tons of games, and I agree. This opening set of scenes with this song hits so hard and really sets the tone of the story/stories being really sad almost instantly. Best Opening ever.
I'm sad one of the other suikodens is getting remastered and not this one.
@@dougm4160 the first two games are eventually getting pc remasters. I imagine the 3rd will also eventually get a remaster too.
21 years later, and it still hits just as hard, if not harder than ever. This is easily one of the greatest and emotionally driven openings of all time. Konami didn't have to go that hard , y'know? But they did... For us.
FF9 Opener is my second favorite to this one.

It feels like watching a 50 episode anime series. These games really had a lot of scale and memorable casts.
With Eiyuden Chronicles (a spiritual sequel to the series, by the original creator of Suikoden) coming out soon, I’ve decided to play the games through again, and have realised how much I love them all over again.
You’re right though… the whole series feels like watching a beloved anime, with so much love and effort put into them.
Here’s to hoping EC does so well that it kicks off a whole new franchise with just as much love put into it by fans and creators alike!

I listen to this song, been I have been in spme combat and this song fits of a sorrow song. Just reminds me of things.
They don’t make games with souls anymore but this one does have a soul as the saying goes things change but not always for the better
I may not cry, I've cried a bit too much in my life really, but I won't deny I do get sad and feel my heartstrings getting pulled on pretty dang hard even after listening to it over a hundred times.

This opening definitely left an impact on me. Over 20 years later and here I am. Still as amazing as ever. Just something about this tone, art direction, music. It all blends together to make something truly special.

I loved that feeling when I realized it was bits n pieces of actual moments in the story
Felt nostalgic. This is the type of music I get so excited to hear in any game. So earthy, soul reaching.
This Game for me is Legendary, i played it Back when i was in my Elementary Days , i Love the Story , the Characters, Everything, i Even Bought the Manga , Suikoden III is an Underrated Gem and Should Have a Remake or a Remaster or Atleast its should really really have its own Anime Series , it would be Great Watching it In a Ongoing Weekly Anime Series Basis...

a cool thing about the song is that the lyrics are actually just random made up words. even if it's not a language it sounds like it could be one and makes you feel emotions.
Maybe becoz it's set in a different world that's why the words are different than in our own...

My favorite opening I am addicted to this.
2:57 one of the most hyped up characters in the entire game and you can't even play as him. He resembles the main character in previous games. And he is one of the best looking character designs in this game.
If they were going to continue the series, we hope that he will be the main character and the plot revolves around in his timeline. But knowing konami, it will be just a dream 😢
I think that the interesting part about this game, most games you name that character as a playable protagonist but in this you name a hero who a legend of the past. If he was alive then he would been a Tenkai star and not Thomas, but that does not mean I don't like Thomas as Tenkai, in fact I like that idea, it show that not every Tenkai characters has to be a protagonist.
Came here after I finished ghost of tsushima, and this song keep popping out when the credit rolls, even after like 20-ish years. Suikoden III really is my gateway drug in my elementary days, saving money just to buy that CD, and going to my cousin house just to play this in PS II, we took turns for each character story, trying to find clue for a recruitable character, after I play SIII, I have this craving to play SI,SII took a part time under my uncle's motor shop, bought my console with my dad's help to have PS I and officially jump start my gaming life, those are the good times. Now at my 32, still playing games but the feeling is not the same nowadays.
2024 and this intro and music still live in my head rent free like it was yesterday. The definition of the word "classic"

This is one of those openings you never skip.
This game was my introduction to the Suikoden series. I loved this game so much that I went and found used copies of the first two games. Then I got 4 and 5 when they were released. While I didn't love 4 and 5 as much, they still kept me involved enough to complete them. I never got around to completing Tactics, unfortunately. Maybe one day, if I can ever get my hands on a copy again.

I don't know what it is, but suikoden 1-3 will always hold a special place in me. These games were so amazing in every aspect... especially character development and likeness.
I wish I could like 3 but they changed so much and aside from this amazing opening the music in 3 was nothing compared with Miki Higashino's work in the first game
I'm listening to this with good headphones and wow even the audio sounds very high quality. Good job on upscaling not just the video but improving the audio as well.
I find so many upscaling jobs are entirely too smooth because they up the frame rate at the same time, and they end up looking like something on a motion interpolated TV. This is not one of those cases. Amazing job!
By far the best Suikoden intro, and I also think it's the best overall game in the series.

Randomly got this game at gamestop when I was around 12, and this game, especially this intro, stucked with me. Im 29 now.

if I listen again, the melody of this song feels like it comes from the Middle East but mixed with traditional Japanese music, in my lifetime one of the most beautiful sounds comes from the Middle East, it sounds very sad but very calming

This game certainly could use a remake. The characters, story and the addictive nature of gameplay should stay. Everything else should be changed.

This game was very, very good when I was still in elementary school and discovered lots of stories from more than 100 characters in this game, I never got bored.

As much as I love Suikoden 5 more than the others in the series, this will always be my favourite intro to any of the games.
I watched the full video every time before playing... every time.
My favorite part of this song is that chorus of dudes going "Whoah! Whoah! Whoah! Whoah!" It adds some extra kick to it.

Damn. Lol before RUclips it took me 30 minutes to watch this trailer for tsg on the magic box when the game came out. I got suikoden 2 (the guy at toys r us was telling this game was good) and used copy of suikoden for 20. I really enjoyed playing 3 and having a playable Nash Lajkte.

Played 1.and 2 . Loved them. Missed this as didn't own the platform to play it on. Then got 4 and hated it . Returned for 5 and it was good but nothing gave me the feelings the 1st and 2nd did. I always regret not being able to try 3
Suikoden III's story could've rivaled Knights of the Old Republic II and Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer, you have a character who shook the foundation of their worlds because they knew that they live on worlds dictated by whims of fate and wished to oust said powers to bring freedom for people but it demanded a steep price. Shame Murayama didn't manage to finish it, may he rest in peace.
Also, if you love this kind of music, check the band's discography, Himekami. I recommend Poem of the Gods (Kamigami no Uta) and Prayer of Thousand Years (Sennen no Inori).

@Goldsac actually, they probably are singing actual words. the only problem is lack of translators who KNOW the language. the group who sang this: Himekami, is a semi-traditional taiko(drum dance) group. they sing in a very, very ancient Japanese language thats become obsolete today. Its very hard to translate, and not many people learn how to, from what I hear. So it might be gibberish, it might be that language. Whos to say?
