    Strange that their first car and the Alfa Romeo had maximum undercut design, they ditched it and now all teams increase the undercut again

    • @F1Unchained
      @F1Unchained  4 месяца назад +6

      It is strange was thinking the same

    • @dylanburston7453
      @dylanburston7453 4 месяца назад +9

      Because they wanted to get the downwashing sidepods which gets air to the diffuser.
      The massive undercut all the way to the back did the same thing but less effectively.
      The undercut got reduced on their 1st version of the down washing sidepods, but that would be down to packaging restraints and less knowledge of the concepts. The air still sticks to the side of the car, so a larger undercut is still benifitial even if it looks sligtly blocked, like the 2022 Ferrari, which still had a decently large initial undercut despite the rest of the sidepod going nearly to the floor edge

    • @Chr15py_
      @Chr15py_ 4 месяца назад +1

      They did have maximum undercut but had the same issue as Mercedes in that the floor wasnt supported enough. With the "RB" style with a rear downwash, the rear of the floor is supported so they can then increase the front again

    •  4 месяца назад

      in the front part of the floor yes, but not at the rear where sidepod ends, There are 2 reasons:
      1) push the wheel wake over the tyre 2) floor that doesn't flex so much & suck to the ground (porpoising)

    This car always impresses. The colour is just WOW !! I really like the new nose and front wing but also know tihs will change as the season progresses. Unlike the other cars, I get the impression it has remained rather wide where other teams seem to have narrowed the width of the car (side pod to side pod). I am curious as to the new MB gearbox which is now smaller. Really nice looking car in these renders.

    I find their sidepods air inlet very interesting, the lower lip protrudes so that it looks like the air is somewhat getting sucked downwards into the inlets. • @theelf152
    @theelf152 4 месяца назад +2

    I kind of agree that they are hiding much development at the rear. The AM23 was too slow in a straight line so Im guessing the wings definitely need more substantial work- that may come with many track specific variations. Surprised at the serpentine downwash top part of the side-pod- I won’t be surprised if that changes too.

    • @Urgrannytranny

      Guess what? They have greater top speed on straights than mclarens and Mercedes now. On fast corners it's Mcl>AM>merc. On slow corners it's Merc>mcl>Aston. But it's a green John Deere tractor on high fuel

    I think the suspension is one of the most importent upgrades on the aston martin..
    Racing bulls- Alfa Romeo and Alpine have new Suspension And now also Aston Martin.
    , I think Ferrari and Mercedes will do the same and change their suspension..
    In the beginning of Last year I thought (and hoped) that both Mercedes and Ferrari would change their suspension, I was so clear for me, that it was something they really needed, to catch up. . But they didnt.. 🤷‍♂️ This year, I think (and hope) the Racing is going to be awesome 💪

    Could the lifting of the bodywork around the gearbox be due to Mercedes lifting the entire gearbox assembly by maybe 3 centimeters? A solution like this would free up a lot of space in the diffuser for aerodynamic gain at the cost of a higher center of gravity. Greetings from Denmark

    • @F1ll1nTh3Blanks
      @F1ll1nTh3Blanks 4 месяца назад +1

      I think the rear suspension is Mercedes along with the transmission and power unit. They basically take all of that as a complete unit because it's structural. The front suspension is theirs I think, I am not sure.

    • @dylanburston7453
      @dylanburston7453 4 месяца назад

      The big thing i the suspension is the anti dive and anti squat properties, which keep the car more stable and lets the floor work all the time. Its the main reason the RB19 was so dominant.
      Ferrari has the same suspention set up (assuming Hass didnt us cg to change it to pushrod to hide it for Ferrari) but it does have anti dive front suspention, and im pretty sure anti squat at the rear

    Looks more simplified and refined. It looks more efficient as a baseline but whether or not it will be as good as Red Bull or even McLaren, I am not sure about. I wont be surprised if Red Bull will have moved the game along. I expect Aston to be joint 4th fastest witu Mercedes tbh. Red Bull, McLaren and Ferrari had the most promise and momentum.

    AMR still has one big issue with their team. That is LANCEcrashOlot is still driving for them. He is and will never be a championship contending driver ! Alonso can only do so much for them points wise. If they had someone else in that seat even someone like Stoffel Vandoorne in there the team would've had more points last season ! But Lance Stroll IMO just has zero passion or hunger to win or care ti score points consistently. His post race/crash interviews prove that in most cases. He just laughs off his failures like a spoiled brat that knows daddy will buy him another of the toys he destroyed. Its unfortunate that he lacks the desire to be his best at all times. Because he is incredibly talented when his head and heart are fully into racing ! It appears as if it has come to easily for him to be there. If his father hadnt paid his way into F1 and then bought a team for him to squander his talents on would he still even be an F1 ? Highly unlikely that any other teams would've held onto him this long. Lance can and should get much better results then he has of late ! Its time for him to prove he should remain in F1, or AMR will (🤞&🙏) need to give him the boot out the door if they really want to fight for the constructors championship !! Its hard to invision the teams long term goal of winning the WCC & WDC with him still driving for them !
