The idea of a "Aqua Rodan" reminds me of recent studies & hypotheses of various sea-going pterosaurs like Pteranodon, Nyctosaurus, & their kin being able to dive & swim similarly to certain seabirds like pelicans & gannets. Nyctosaurids even lost their small fingers, resulting in a flipper-like wing. This probably suggests that they spent most of their time soaring & swimming, only coming onto land to rest & breed. Perhaps the "Aqua Rodan" would've looked like a Nyctosaur?
An aquatic Rodan form is an interesting idea for the SP Rodan’s evolution and finally getting some “answers” about the mysteries Shadow Rodan or Ultima Rodan that appear in episode 10 for a few seconds. I hope they explore more about this Rodan Ultima in season 2 of Godzilla Singular point in the future because it has a lot of potential in story and lore.

1. I thought the human characters we're way better than the ones in the enemy trilogy especially design-wise but I feel like they weren't fully developed I had a hard time connecting with them they did not have enough personality for me to care about them there wasn't enough backstory for me to get invested in them but I guess that's the result of the creators of singular point trying to base the series on shin Godzilla and while that movie was good I had a lot of problems with the human characters they were just so bland and avoid of any personality that hardly don't care what happens to them the same could be said for the characters in singular point.
2. The science of single point was interesting but I had a hard time understanding it this is another issue I had with the series The writers were trying too hard to explain the science of this series I had to watch different RUclips videos to understand what's going on because it became too unbearable to understand that the writers should have made the science of single point a little bit similar for average people to understand by making it to hard to understand you lose some of the audience.
3. My biggest issue it comes to the monsters of single point some of the designs are fine but I feel like the anime fails to use the monsters to their full potential. I never understand what was the purpose of making some of the monsters smaller like Rodan he had a totally different design-wise and it was multiple of them. The new monster salonga was treated like a joke every time the Kaiju was going to do some damage he gets impaled by Red crystals it takes the way the seriousness of this monster as a threat. My favorite Kaiju Angruius had a cool design and interesting new powers but ends up being killed by jet Jaguar which was a real let down. And finally when it comes to Godzilla I really don't understand what was the point of having different forms they serve no real purpose only to capitalize the success of shin Godzilla and the fact of the matter is Godzilla doesn't show until towards the end of the final episodes because originally toho wanted Godzilla to appear early on in the series but the creators of single point thought having Godzilla appear early on would be too boring I feel like the writers are really missing the point on what makes the Godzilla franchise special

Random nameless background characters have more personality than every sp human combined, which still isn't saying much.
A little theory of mine:
The Black Rodan genuinely scared Godzilla, and that’s why he took it out so quickly. Godzilla saw Rodan as an actual threat to his dominance, and as a result he acted quickly to put the threat down before it started (whether or not he succeeded in killing it is unknown).
Whether an amalgamation of many Rodans (think Destoroyah), or just one particular Rodan that managed to make it big, I think there might be a lot more context and importance to the Black Rodan than we thought.
Rodan might actually be a bigger and scarier threat than Godzilla, for all we know… … …
Not gonna lie, after watching this video, I would to see an Aquatic form of Rodan based on Manta Rays. I feel that would be the best transition from aquatic reptile to flying Creature possible while still keeping the creatures asthetic.
Great vid as always man! While it's a bummer that so little exists about the "Big Rodan" and this scrapped "Aquatic Rodan", it's nice to see these ideas at least spark discussion.

1.most animals start small than grow bigger as they get older.
2. Rodan live span sound more like mayfly’s or dragonfly than a real pterosaur, which made me think they should used a giant aquatic arthropod instead of a pterodactyl
But for all of rodan problems I should take rodan multiple design over the elder bears from blood c-.

Theory: the reason why the 3rd form of Rodan is some shadow, giant kind is because it feeds on radio waves and radiation. It has been stated and sene that the Rodans are attracted to radio waves and like to get radiation from it or somewhere else, this Rodan could of gotten so much radiation and destroyed so many radio waves that eventually it started to absorb the radiation from Godzilla in the red dust and so it’s evolution messed up and it’s cells…well….malfunctioned (not like a robot). The cells didn’t evolve properly or work properly due to a new source of radiation it’s cells tried to adjusted to it but its evolution still messed up so it’s size was increased and it was fielded with dark radiation on its body, giving a immense amount of heat from the radiation and atomic energy from Godzilla and so Rodan could get magmatic energy, we see this Rodan has a orange fire glow in his mouth, it’s likely this was a projectile or heat beam from its mouth but it was stopped by Godzilla who was aware that it got his radiation
Idk this is just a theory. We still need a season 2 to get the proper explanation
I have a theory on this 3rd Form Rodan; that it isn't a Rodan Ultima. From the production standpoint, obviously it was probably meant to be to fulfill Takahashi's desire to have a Big Rodan in the story (even if Toh EnJoe's script / novel clearly indicates it wasn't needed)--and the last-second inclusion shows that. However, I think this can be retroactively justified in a 2nd Season (come on 2024 preview! Or 2024 release, that'd be even better!).
The theory I have in mind is that this "3rd Form" isn't a 3rd Form, but a Transitional Phase. I say this, because if we pay attention, we clearly get to see Rodan transitioning between it's 1st Form and 2nd Form with the corpses that litter Japan (you can see traits of 2nd Form on the 1st Form). With that in mind, this does leave legroom for Takahashi and co. to have a full-fledged Rodan Ultima that's far larger than what we even see out of "Shadow Rodan". Theoretically too, on a design front, it'd be consistent--1st Form has 1 horn, 2nd Form has 2 horns, wouldn't it make sense for a proper 3rd Form to have 3 horns, like what we see with the Heisei Rodan? Making "Shadow Rodan" a Transitional Phase would give credence to its presence without contradicting the rules of SP, imo.
And further extending that, if Aqua Rodan did exist, I could see it not having any horns if it precedes the 1st Form--since it could occupy the spot of "0th Form" in the same way Godzilla Aquatilis is Godzilla's 0th Form.
But that's my personal theory--really hoping this is the case. ;)
Great video Matt!!!! Out of Toho's big five in singular point (excluding Ghidorah who's a no-show), Rodan is quite the strange anomaly. From two distinct forms, a mysterious shadow Rodan that we got very little info about, and an unused Aqua Rodan form!!! This is one iteration of the winged Kaiju is very intriguing and would love to know more about him in the coming future. Especially Shadow Rodan/Rodan Ultima.
Before vid Oh please tell me someone has some info on that dark rodan that showed up now. Seriously he was sool cool. Too cool to get one shotted like that and never properly explained

You won't be seeing much "thee-ree'ing" for this one. Definitely used all the official sources I could to cover Rodan Ultima/Shadow Rodan/Dark Rodan/Rodan Form 3.

I have a theory about that third form rodan, now remember when you say the red dust terraforming tokyo? well maybe the red dust not only makes plant life appear on the building, but it can also create some kind of living organism, I’m pretty sure that these living organisms made by the red dust can’t be controlled in anyway, so that’s why Godzilla killed that shadow rodan, because he knew he couldn’t reason or control it, or even make a deal with it, so yeah, that is my theory m8s

For rodan “ultima”, I just thought it was an incarnation of fire rodan, but I prefer to call it “cindered rodan”.

With how poorly thought out the story was (despite the defense that having a (ex)physicist write the story, which means nothing when Jurassic Park also brought in experts when it came to dinosaurs which even back then they made changes that were already proven false. And the fact that a physicist debunked the science in the show for ham fisting terminologies together and calling it a day.) , it makes sense how things like this rodan and the mini mothras just show up and never appear again. The Shadow Rodan was one of the only designs that intrigued me when the rest were either scientificly accurate or just kaiju we already knew just called Godzilla or the green one which cant even remember how to pronouce its own name.
