I loved the graphics and the music! My biggest problem was the waste of money it was when I got it at launch in the UK. £70 and I completed the game with in 24 hours! Then 101% the next day!
Definitely took me more than 24 hours to clear this one lol, but that's a good point, SNES games were expensive and they didn't all feature a ton of playtime.
I’ll never forget seeing DK Country for the first time as a kid at a family friends house and being blown away by how good it looked and how tough it was when I was younger 😅 I replayed it recently on the Switch and it’s still a fantastic game one of the greatest.
That video is a promo and misleading, that the USA made the game. Rare UK.
I do remember seeing that VHS tape! especially that tease at the end that they were also doing a home conversion of Killer Instinct! but on DKC, yeah it was a super fun platformer. and yeah as you might expect an excellent soundtrack. admittedly never really got into the sequels (minus DKC returns which was kinda fun.) Easily on my top ten list of SNES games of all time!
I enjoyed the two sequels, but the first game is still my favorite, and I loved both of the DKC Returns games.
I still have a copy of that VHS tape!

DKC and DKC2 did what no other Nintendo game could do (yes, even Mario and Zelda) during the 16-bit era; it pulled me away from my Genesis and made me happy to own an SNES.
My little cousin's doesn't like this game... They don't like the graphics. ALL the Super Nintendo games. They just don't like it.
The Super Nintendo graphics will die with us...
I remember renting this game, I couldn't believe how well crafted this game was.

30 Years of Donkey And Country (1994-2024)
Donkey Kong Land 2 was the first game I got for my Game Boy Pocket. I also regularly watched the Donkey Kong tv show. That terrible song by the Kung Fu Master lives in my head to this day. I really enjoyed both Donkey Kong Country Returns and Tropical Freeze. Sad it seems we wouldn't get a third game in that style.
Love DKC so much. Hard to believe it’s been 30 years because it still feels so great, never gets stale. It’s my go-to game any time I fire up something to play SNES on, like my very own litmus test: how does DKC look?
It’s the first game I ever “beat”, and it still gives me joy whenever I finish it again to this day.
Arakawa thought this was a future N64 game when he saw the first demo.
I had to trade in a pile of game gear games to get DKC. Totally worth it. You nailed it with your words.
This was probably the first video I ever wanted. I think I got the trilogy every year for Christmas during that span. Those were the good ole days

lol Donkey Kong Country Exposed was also my first introduction to DKC. It still took a few months after release for me to get my hands on the game, so I kept rewatching that VHS in the meantime 😂
