I used to simply bind discord mute to "f14" button and mute myself this way, but with your plugin it's way better, because i can see on touch portal if I'm muted or not thank you

nice tutorial, have question. When I'm streaming I mainly use my CAPS LOCK as push to mute. Let's say I switch to PTT and want to use CAPS LOCK to instead be the PTT button, and then when I switch back to Voice Activity I want it to be push to mute again. Can it be done?
Sure you can use “Discord Voice Mode Type Valid Values: PUSH_TO_TALK, VOICE_ACTIVITY” state to know which mode your are in and then change the functionality of the button based on that type. Either it’s press a button or it’s mute discord
Is there an update video planned for 5.0.0? I had to dig down a bit to find the plugins as the UI has changed quite a bit. Also when I got to 3:50 in the video Discord was running but I didn't get a popup asking me to authorize the plugin. I checked with the App Verification in the DDP and it said it couldn't be verified as it was missing 3 criteria, so I did a whole bunch of stuff in order for the app to be verified including taking a photo ID of my driving license (lol!!!!) In the end I finally got the app verified in DDP but it still didn't result in any popups in Discord and none of the buttons I have assigned to mute/deafen myself through TP work so I'm at a loss.

Thanks. All touch Portal plug-ins require Pro Upgrade. You do not need pro if you want to just use mute/deafen using hotkeys. But if you want some of the extra benefits of the plug-in, it will require the Touch Portal Pro upgrade.
Is it possible to swap between Audio devices in Discord? Like if i switch from my VR headset to headphones, and Discord tends to stay on the audio device chosen in its settings. And the "Default" setting in Discord seems to have a mind on its own. I would like a command when i press my button to change windows default audion input/output it should also change in Discord. Or one that just changes it in discord, which I could just add in the "if bracket" for my swap button.

I'm not sure if it's possible to control the input and output set in Discord...but I have circumvented that problem by using Vince Burel's [donationware] 'Voicemeeter' (my version is 'Potato') and it works brilliantly with Discord as well as all my other input/output, streaming and in-game multi-mic / multi output devices. I've been testing Elgato's Stream Deck s/w for iPad and the plugins available make the many combinations of input/output/record/narrowcast an absolute breeze. From what I am seeing here, and I am about to download Touch Portal and a handful of plugins, I'm expecting to see the same one-touch ease of use with this product - maybe even more! Best of success, which ever way you go!
It should be possible actually with their api. I just haven’t implemented that portion yet. But, I’ll look at adding that into the next update after the current one that’s is in testing is done.

@@JStrict I had the same problem, however opening Touch Portal as Administrator fixed it for me. The moment I opened TP as Admin I got the notification from Discord. Hope this helps!
Correct. The client id and secret and redirect url are on the same place now. You have to first click reset secret to see your secret now (and any future time to get a new secret)
That changed recently. Just click reset and it will prompt for a token if you have 2FA installed, and then after that present you the button to copy the secret.
I got an issue where the new pop up windows won't appear after you import the plugin. Basically it says that the plugin is running but nothing is happening
Do a full shutdown of Touch portal and Discord. Then start discord and then touch portal. If nothing shows up, can you message me (spdermn02) on the Touch Portal Discord in the #discord channel. It will end up being easier to walk through things there. Also sorry for not getting back to you sooner
It’s possible the process watcher isn’t working on your machine. I know sometimes that has an issue and can be skipped using settings. Otherwise I would need to do a deeper dive. Can you jump on the Touch Portal Discord and write up in the #discord channel and spdermn02(me) can help research there.
The plugin was last updated 4 months ago. I can't get it to work because I am using the latest version of discord ptb, oh well then. Thanks for the tutorial anyways! It would have been helpful if the dev updated their plugin.

I think I answered incorrectly in the discord, as I’m thinking of the question I think the answer is still no, but what button on the mouse were you thinking? I’m unsure if discord even allows mouse buttons to be considered “hotkeys”
It worked only so far where I try to copy the url to allow the plugin to discord, then comes the field "externel discord plugin" allowing? After say YES!!! Always comes "1. connection cheking, 2. proxy and firewall" and then nothing. Trying to put off firewall defender and even chrome savety, nothing helps! But you don’t need to use the Generator portion you do however need to click the “add redirect” link on the same page where your client is and secret are located. I'm stuck on the "Analyzing file TPDiscord-Win.tpp" screen when importing the plugin...Tried waiting 30+ minutes and still not beyond the first 5 percent of the bar is blue. I've rebooted pc and it still won't import. I just imported several plugins so I know importing does work.

One thing to make sure of is there is a "do you trust this plugin" popup that occurs during import, and if that is somehow behind a window it will look like the import is stuck, but it really isn't it's waiting on user input. If we need to jump on the Touch Portal discord and ping @spdermn02 in the #discord channel and if I'm available we can do a screen share.

Have you made sure that the redirect url is localhost and that you have your pro upgrade enabled device connected. Else you will need to hop on the touch portal discord and tag @spdermn02 in the #discord channel so I can help you there. It’s easier.
Things may have changed while touch portal has been updated since this video. You should now getting a small progress bar that at least shows it’s importing. If this is your first plugin, exit and restart touch portal using the icon in the system tray. Then make sure to get the discord client id and secret (note: you will have to “reset the secret” even on first creation.). Then it should prompt for auth. If it doesn’t can you ping spdermn02 in the #discord channel on the Touch Portal discord.
Here are some troubleshooting things to do: **Troubleshooting** A few things could be an issue: 1) fully restart discord maybe something happened with the connection mechanism 2) the user you created the dev app with is not the same that is logged into the discord app 3) your redirect url isn’t correct on the dev app should be `localhost` 4) May need to uninstall and reinstall discord to fix its issues If those don’t work. Hop in the Touch Portal discord and tag me in a message in the #discord channel. It will be easier to assist there.

It’s possible you need to restart discord and touch portal. Discord sometimes breaks their own api endpoint. If that doesn’t work, I would need to see the log.txt file with `include plug-in logs` turned on the Logs tab of Touch Portal, then restart touch portal.
It could be that for some reason the way I do process checking isn’t working for you, so in the settings set “Skip process watcher” to Yes Then save, and exit and restart touch portal.

@@theweb-behindthescenes5236 Interestingly, I didn't use the API, mine was a bit of a workaround. I just made a button use a certain hotkey and mapped the hotkey to enabling a stream. Discord has a hotkey option in the settings so it was pretty simple to setup.

Some machines don’t like the system being used to determine if Discord is open or not. Is there a way to make it so discord does not ask me EVERY time I boot it if i want to authorize the connection. I get tired of it clicking every time.
I’m sorry that I had to build the plugin that way. The library I use to interface to discord doesn’t have the features really needed for supporting the other way. But I do have plans on working through adding it. But I have not had the time to spend solely on this plugin again to work on it.

I can. The only things that have changed are related to the client id client secret and redirect url are all on the same page of the developer app you have to create. But if you join the Touch Portal discord I can help you (spdermn02) in the #discord channel as that is easier to communicate in.
Thanks. It may be a few things. Sometimes restarting both softwares makes it work. You may also need to set Skip Process Watcher in settings to Yes and then stop and start the plugin as that has had issues on some people’s computers.

Hey, sorry to hear that. Typically it’s a very simple issue. The easiest solutions have been to recycle Discord and Touch Portal. Make sure fully exited from the system tray, open discord and then open Touch Portal. There has been occurrences on Windows where the process watcher mechanism I use doesn’t seem to function due to some windows related issue. I would have to see the log data for that. If you can join the Touch Portal discord tag spdermn02 in the #discord channel and I can assist you easier there.
Did you get the “authorize” pop up in discord? If you didn’t then that is the first thing to figure out. Check the configuration section of the video. If that still doesn’t help, completely exit touch portal and discord from the system tray, start discord, after it finishes, open touch portal and see if that works. Otherwise jump into the touch portal discord and come to the #discord channel I can help there tomorrow sometime. (I’m central US location)
It shouldn’t do that. Can you double check that “include plug-in logs” in the Log section of touch portal is checked and then when the issue happens can you see if anything from the TPDiscord plugin is logged.
Hey sorry for the delayed response. If this is your first plugin you need to do a full restart of touch portal. Sometimes you will need to do the same with Discord. If that still doesn’t work then if either run as admin, then both have to run as admin.
The plugin still works yes. The guide is a little dated due to changes in Discord’s web page UI but the functionality of how to get the plugin connected is the same.
Yes for Touch Portal plugins, it requires Touch Portal Pro upgrade. It’s a 1 time purchase for the platform you are using (android or iOS) if you plan to use on both platforms, you would need to purchase twice.

So I have followed the steps, but when I add this information into the plugin, Discord does not pop up asking me to authorize the app, any ideas?
Try fully exiting touch portal using the system tray touch portal icon and then starting it back up again.

I can't get this to work at all.
There's no popup asking me to authorize anything, followed everything completely correct.
Something is broken.
I tried running discord as admin just in case, but no matter what i do, it will not connect to my discord.
Nothing happens when i press start or save.

The OAuth2 URL Generator wasn't working I couldn't even just pick out a redirect URL I feel this may be a bit outdated now :(

I’m sorry that I had to build the plugin that way. The library I use to interface to discord doesn’t have the features really needed for supporting the other way. But I do have plans on working through adding it. But I have not had the time to spend solely on this plugin again to work on it.

I can. The only things that have changed are related to the client id client secret and redirect url are all on the same page of the developer app you have to create. But if you join the Touch Portal discord I can help you (spdermn02) in the #discord channel as that is easier to communicate in.

You shouldn’t need the generator. It’s not used for this plugin. You just have to make sure the localhost is set in the redirect uri portion.

Thanks. It may be a few things. Sometimes restarting both softwares makes it work. You may also need to set Skip Process Watcher in settings to Yes and then stop and start the plugin as that has had issues on some people’s computers.

Hey, sorry to hear that. Typically it’s a very simple issue. The easiest solutions have been to recycle Discord and Touch Portal. Make sure fully exited from the system tray, open discord and then open Touch Portal.
There has been occurrences on Windows where the process watcher mechanism I use doesn’t seem to function due to some windows related issue. I would have to see the log data for that.
If you can join the Touch Portal discord tag spdermn02 in the #discord channel and I can assist you easier there.

Did you get the “authorize” pop up in discord? If you didn’t then that is the first thing to figure out. Check the configuration section of the video. If that still doesn’t help, completely exit touch portal and discord from the system tray, start discord, after it finishes, open touch portal and see if that works. Otherwise jump into the touch portal discord and come to the #discord channel I can help there tomorrow sometime. (I’m central US location)
For a while it works but after a few minutes it disconnects.
It shouldn’t do that. Can you double check that “include plug-in logs” in the Log section of touch portal is checked and then when the issue happens can you see if anything from the TPDiscord plugin is logged.

Hey sorry for the delayed response. If this is your first plugin you need to do a full restart of touch portal. Sometimes you will need to do the same with Discord. If that still doesn’t work then if either run as admin, then both have to run as admin.
can you use this with discord on the website?
Unfortunately not, it uses a communication process that is only setup through the installed client.

The plugin still works yes. The guide is a little dated due to changes in Discord’s web page UI but the functionality of how to get the plugin connected is the same.
It won’t let me go into the channels tho it has a locked key!

Yes for Touch Portal plugins, it requires Touch Portal Pro upgrade. It’s a 1 time purchase for the platform you are using (android or iOS) if you plan to use on both platforms, you would need to purchase twice.
