Iirc, the reason police departments don't use them much anymore is because a GSD might grieve if it loses its handler, but a Dobie will be _broken_ They simply care too deeply for their own good in some cases...
They need a ton of mental stimulation though. Or at least a lot of them do or they start getting really obsessive compulsive behavior stuff going on. Some of the smartest dogs documented in the world have been Dobermans but the most famous one came out of a rescue because her need for mental stimulation was just too much for her first owners.
That’s the ENTIRE reason I cropped and docked my dobie. I’m a marathon runner and he saved me several times in bad areas. No one is scared of a skinny Labrador retriever. A DOBERMAN and its ‘breed standard’ is also about psychology. It’s psychologically advantageous to have a dog that literally looks and IS terrifying. Not sorry in the slightest. 10/10 would do it again.
@ronniewilliz153 They're incredible family dogs! Ears and tails are important. It's great that your dad adopted one. it just sucks that it was already mutilated.
My family had a rescue dog a bit of my childhood and we got her with her tail cut off. I think she was abused or something, she was always nervous. I never liked her cause I was scared of dogs at that age but I do remember feeling bad for her that her tail was cut off
My step uncle had one named Rudy. She was half blind but she was the biggest sweetheart. Always greeted me and sat down next to me and leaned all her weight on me. Part of me still thinks she knew I was going through a rough time and needed the attention and affection. ❤
Fun fact: doberman are really friendly dogs it's just they naturally have floppy ears and we cut the flaps off so a bunch of air and wind goes into their ears which pisses them off which is why they are usually so mad and the tail thing is so they don't break their tail because it's really long and usually gets broken
My dog Raven was half Doberman, half German shepherd, but she looked more Doberman than anything. She was adorable and sweet - she didn’t have her tail or ears docked and I loved her floppy ears and thumping tail. She lived to 15 years old until she passed this spring. I miss our good girl. ❤️
I had a half Toby half shepherd when I was a kid and he was the best dog I remember ever having. He was protective but not aggressive and he could jump a 6-foot cinder block fence which helped me out One Day. I was walking down the alley had some gang members taunting me because of what I was wearing. Just so you know I'm not a gang member I just happen to like black and red. We got to my backyard and I heard my dog in the yard so I called him. He jumped that fence landed got right next to me and started growling. One of the kids moved like a step forward and he got in front of me, the dog not the kid. And then I told bubba to get them. They thought I was telling my dog to attack and took off. My dog knowing that get them is not an actual attack command literally chased them down to the end of the alley and then trotted back all happy. When we got in the house he got a treat.
Pretty sure a teeth fletching, neck hair standing up doberman wagging his tail would look more intimidating to me 😂 (I find the little nobs wiggling very cutsy)
Dobermans: big, shiny, beautiful, dorks who are incredibly nosey, ridiculously loyal, have no idea how big they are, and love to sleep on their backs in the sun.
The guy with brown hair is an angel. Jesus has done cameos in other videos. If I'm remembering correctly, God sends him to his room for smarting off. P.S. Jonny is a comedic genius.
My dog, a Bichon, was bit by a Doberman last week. My dog eyesight are not good, especially dark colours, and because the Doberman was so tall, my dog couldn't smell the other dog's ass. 😂 So he constantly bark at him. The Doberman was the sweetest thing. But that afternoon he was tired, I guess, so when my dog barked at him, he snapped. And as soon as he did, the Doberman kept his head low as if he was sorry for what he's done. 😀
American, I presume? Well, in the civilized world people pay taxes *and get stuff in exchange.* Like, infrastructure, modern public transportation systems, affordable/free education, decent housing, and most notoriously, public healthcare, among other things. Mostly cultural stuff. When you say they pay for everything with their taxes, it's true. You pay taxes and also have to pay for everything out of your pocket. You pay twice, that's why you feel robbed. Next time, you know who to vote for, do you? Do you?
@@emaarredondo-librarian wow way to blow this all the way out of proportion 😂 we understand what taxes is for. Doesn’t mean it can’t be reduced. The problem is when politicians get rich off of taxes instead of taxes going to those programs that benefit the country that you mentioned.
@@ShagWitTheBag Uh, yes. That's why you need to be careful when voting, because the ones who most promise to reduce taxes usually cut taxes to the richest and to companies (which happen to be their donors) - and then blame the lacking services on illegal immigrants. What do you prefer, keep the taxes you pay now, and maybe pay a little more, but having healthcare, education, and other services? Or pay less taxes, keeping the same healthcare/education/transportation systems, and maybe finding yourself in an understaffed, supplies-lacking county hospital in an emergency? It appears that when the taxes issue appears, very few people remember that paying for other people's access to societal goods also secures one's access to them. Keep on thinking. ✌
Which is ironic because God can never be confused since he’s omniscient and knows everything that ever happened, is happening now, and will happen in the future.
I had a doberman once. She has a very original name. Dobey. I got her for free from the breeder because her mother bit her and her ribs were malformed because of it. She was too young to be out on solid food spni had to bottle feed her. As she grew I eventually had to rehome her, but she has a very loving family. I couldn't keep her because I didn't have tbe money to get her the treatment she needed but the family that has her did, so I had no problem giving her to them in order to let her have the life she deserved.
Based on the stories they should be very, verrrry careful asking for it though. 😅 Not too keen on credit-sharing. If God was your dad, he'd throw you into the basement for being proud of your grades, because he made you, so they're his grades really.
Fun fact:Dobermans were actually created by a tax collector, because back then Tax Collectors were Prime targets of robbery because they had bags of tax money, so this tax collector also had access to a bunch of dogs so he bred a bunch of them until the Doberman was created
You can still see the dogs tail? I have PLENTY of Manx cats. You can still read their feelings even with a literal nub for a tail. I agree you shouldn't dock animals unless it's for a medical purpose such as an irreparable broken bone, a paralyzed tail, or a wound or infection, but this point is just bad.
@kittysoftpaws3677 yeah but if it'd a nub you gotta look straight at its ass, least here in Britain the cut is as far as possible right next to the anus, most of us don't wanna look at a dos ass to see how it's feeling, appreciate you agreeing but my point is still goodm
@@kittysoftpaws3677 a cats tail is more flexible then a dogs, so they can move their nub a little better, and they also use it in slightly different ways then dogs. You can't tell if the dog is tail tucking with fear, if it doesn't have a tail long enough to tuck. Only when they are super excited do you see a tiny bit of movement in the tail, otherwise it's completely still. Also their tails do more than just communicate. They help with balance and steering while running and swimming, acting like a counterbalance or rudder. So they shouldn't just be taken off for looks, they serve many purposes!
The only reason my grandma’s Yorkie is docked is because Precious was hiding under grandpa’s recliner to get away from the thunderstorm and grandma coercing grandpa to help find her got her tail stuck in the recliner’s gears. Precious and the recliner were never the same. Also Precious got to meet some firefighters!
Yea well the tail is also known for shattering into a thousand pieces when connecting with something so docked tail is probably better in the long run 😊
Absolutely! Doberman, Rottweiler Boxer must have a docked tail! If not they end up breaking it later in life!! I don’t know why Great Danes are not docked!!!
Well of course it is. I mean you work for it and then the government comes and takes a piece, and then often spends it in really bad ways because it's not their money.
Also Cropping the ears is usually a military procedure because the ears being naturally floppy arent able to rotate its ears towards the sounds of the approaching enemy
Just got a doberman 2 days ago... Omg she's a handful. Her tail came docked but we don't have any intentions of cropping the ears. Granted they do look good with them up.
Please don't crop the ears. They don't only do these for aesthetic purposes, initially they had practical uses for when they were used as guard-attack dogs but now dobermans are mostly family pets not likely to get their tails bit off and don't need to look threatening with the ears up so its pointless doing that, just uncomfortable for the dog.
I had a sweet female Doberman (Mocha Cinnamon rip ❤😢) we kept her tail and ears. She 100% looked like a fierce version of the Disney character Goofy 😂. Ahhh she was the sweetest Pupper Lady, and she is missed ❤.
The same thing is for australian shepherds, though I’ve actually had mine since she was born, and we haven’t docked anything off of her. So she’s just a floofball with a tail ❤
I love long-tailed Aussies! They're so beautiful! An interesting fact: Some dog breeds (namely the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Australian Shepherd, and Rottweiler) can have a completely natural bobtail, however most genes causing bobtails in dogs cause incompatibility with life (e.g. stillbirth, severe deformity) if the dog inherits two copies, so reputable breeders will never pair a naturally-bobtailed dog to another naturally bobtailed dog. There will always be a tailed dog to ensure the offspring don't inherit two copies of the gene. I live in Australia, where docking and cropping are banned, but I have seen both bobtailed and tailed Rotties and Aussies.
I was wondering why that wasn't mentioned as well. why the tail but not the ears? otherwise, he's usually quite accurate and funny with his dog knowledge
Some dogs do have ears that stand up normally but idk if this dog does it might have ears that just stand up on their own like many others do Edit: he may have didn't realised it now that I've looked more into the dog
@@mushroom-kingnope, I had a Doberman growing up, got her as a puppy and her ears were floppy. My stepdad took her to get her ears cropped so that they would stand up straight and pointed. She (Athena) wore a cone to keep from scratching at the stitches (didn’t work, she managed to rip a few). I was 13 or 14 at the time and I cried seeing her in pain like that. Lately though, I have seen people walking their Dobermans and am happy to see uncropped ears! The cropped ears are supposed to make the dog look vicious or something seeing as they’re a guard dog. I think it’s just cruel.
@@Wytch1 ohhhhhh okay I know German shepherds ears stand up on their own I didn't know if a Dobermans ears do the same since I dunno a lot about Dobermans 😅 but thank you for correcting me
Both docking and cropping is illegal in my country, which I'm super glad for. It's just, there's like over 150 dog breeds in the world, but for some reason people choose to get a dog whose looks they don't like unless they mutilate their body. Does not make sense to me.
So the original purpose in docking the tails and cropping the ears was to have fewer floppy bits that could be grabbed onto in a fight, so there actually was a purpose once. Now it's just cruelty for "beauty's sake".
There's a dobbie in my neighbourhood with perfect health and all body parts intact, he's such a lovely puppy and I love petting him each time I see him. He's so healthy and pretty, I love that the owners didn't cut off his ears and tail despite the norm being like that here as well
With some breeds (eg:Kangals, alabais, great prynes) they have to have cropped ears and tails because of the things they protect the livestock from( Bears, coyotes, wolves, jackals etc) But! The Doberman doesn't really need the cropping. EXTRA INFO!: Kangal: a LSGD that are very large and masculine, needs to be trained because of they're protective and territorial nature. Alabai: A descendent from the kangal, very beautiful!masculine, intimidating, territorial and colored like a mastiff Great prynes: a large dog whom is raised with flocks of sheep so they see them as family and will kill for the bonded flock of sheep! LSGD: Livestock guardian dog! Very interesting INFO END:
One thing I've noted about the breed over the years is they do seem to have fewer health problems than a lot of dogs for their size. I've never heard of one breaking its tail like you get in some breeds that get docked, but I do know one that had ear margin issues that needed to have them treated but they did not do a traditional docking they just removed the problem areas and kept like shorter floppy ears😅
Dobies! 💜 I just got my first back in January. Her tail was docked by the time I got her, but I left her ears natural. They did try to partially stand up, so rather than be completely floppy, they do this cute little pricked terrier thing. I love her. Incredibly intelligent pups. One of the best. She's in training to be my service dog.
@@pupture9328 I know that. Dobie tails are fragile, and Happy Tail is also a big risk. So although it makes me sad, I understand the risks with a full tail, and I love her the way she is.
They removed the tail and the floppy ears so you couldn't tell what a big baby a doberman really is at home. A neighbour has two, they were scared of outr cats. My uncle had one who was mostly doberman and he wanted to lay on my uncle and suckle his earlobe like a big baby. This doesn't take away from all the damage they can do as a guard dog but ...big babies in the family.
The ears are just aesthetic, and actively hurt the dog later on. Docking tails actually has some point - those things are literal whips and can hurt both people and the dog. There’s a whole thread of people in the comments discussing that, and a few ended up sheltering their dogs since they repeatedly hurt their toddlers pretty badly with their tails. A docked dog is better than a pound dog.
So docking the ears actually wasn't always just aesthetic, historically it was so they could hear better without the ears flopping over on themselves. Now of course, dobermans typically aren't working dogs so the docking is completely unnecessary
Sometimes circumcision is necessary though. Someone I know had to have it done when he was about 7/8. The foreskin wasn't growing with his penis, so was literally strangling blood supply. It caused pain and blood when he urinated. I don't know the statistics of that happening but I do agree it should be like any body modification. The person's choice unless medically necessary.
If there's no medical reason to cut it, keep it! The new testament says to be circumcised in your heart or something so basically in your heart have faith. I don't think parents should decide for a child, let him decide as an adult. Imo it's lazy like ohh I can't be bothered to teach decent hygiene, chop it.... despite being a woman I feel very strongly about this 😂

Dobermans are the sweetest! If you want a dog that will be stuck to you like glue-get a Doberman. So loyal and protective when needed, but also the goofiest dog. I love my derpy Doberman ❤
Iirc, the reason police departments don't use them much anymore is because a GSD might grieve if it loses its handler, but a Dobie will be _broken_
They simply care too deeply for their own good in some cases...
@@spindash64yeah they're very emotional dogs. Separation anxiety is also a pretty common issue with them.
I love floppy-earred Dobermans. They look so hug-able.
Yes, they look like that naturally. People just clip their ears.

I love Dobermans! In my family, we never cut their tails or ears. There's no need for it.
Growing up we always had a doberman n only cut the ears n tail once. Never again. The one my dad has now that he adopted has his tail cut.
@ronniewilliz153 They're incredible family dogs! Ears and tails are important. It's great that your dad adopted one. it just sucks that it was already mutilated.

@@delfin7461 Exactly! Beautiful dogs.

❤sorry for your loss❤
I had a half Shepard, half Rottweiler. His paws were huge
No cutting of tails and ears please...
And my dog had more of a German Shepherd shape but total dobie markings so most people thought he was a Doberman just a heavy one
Personally I love undocked/uncut Dobermans, sure they looks less intimidating, but they look so lovable and more like a family dog.
Yeah same with rottweilers honestly.
Cruel people anyway to dock them.
Don’t forget pit bulls! Paws off the ears!
Yeah I’m pretty sure people do it to working dogs for safety reasons and then people started having them as pets
Yes, because having a less intimidating guard dog is what you want.
Pretty sure a teeth fletching, neck hair standing up doberman wagging his tail would look more intimidating to me 😂 (I find the little nobs wiggling very cutsy)

My dog, a Bichon, was bit by a Doberman last week. My dog eyesight are not good, especially dark colours, and because the Doberman was so tall, my dog couldn't smell the other dog's ass. 😂 So he constantly bark at him.

People are robbed their taxes and doberman their tails. What a world we live in.
Seems like the tax collector is the main issue 🤔😂
not for the dogs@@ShagWitTheBag

Fun fact:Dobermans were actually created by a tax collector, because back then Tax Collectors were Prime targets of robbery because they had bags of tax money, so this tax collector also had access to a bunch of dogs so he bred a bunch of them until the Doberman was created
Don't EVER cut off the tails of dogs...it serves a purpose, it tells you how the dog feels not just if it's happy
There's much more important reasons not to cut a dog's tail lmao
The only reason my grandma’s Yorkie is docked is because Precious was hiding under grandpa’s recliner to get away from the thunderstorm and grandma coercing grandpa to help find her got her tail stuck in the recliner’s gears.
Precious and the recliner were never the same. Also Precious got to meet some firefighters!
I really want a doberman with natural ears and tail!
They look so precious natural
Mine has natural ears, sometimes i forget he can be a killer dog hes just a lovebug :)
As a German, I absolutely approve that description. :-D
"I think you forgot how much people hate paying Taxes, Oh Yh your right".🤣😅
When not docked, the tail can be an auxiliary whip against shins, thighs, and houseplants, and the uncropped ears are heavenly soft! 😊❤😊
Deal with it or don't get a fucking dog then. How you gonna pretend like you love the mf after cutting his tail and ears
Yea well the tail is also known for shattering into a thousand pieces when connecting with something so docked tail is probably better in the long run 😊
Yeah, some breeds have a tendency to get so excited that they'll end up breaking their tails by wagging them into corners and hard surfaces
Absolutely! Doberman, Rottweiler Boxer must have a docked tail! If not they end up breaking it later in life!! I don’t know why Great Danes are not docked!!!
My Doberman is just sitting here like “I know I am amazing, now give me all your blanket.”😢
And Dobies are so adorable with natural ears and a natural tail. 😍
All dogs are more adorable when they're natural. I have/had Great Danes and none of them had their ears cut up. They're gorgeous as is.
I was really hoping for a circumcision joke at the end there
“I think u forgot how much people hate paying taxes” is the most true thing ever said by anyone in the history of mankind (or angelkind)

Well of course it is. I mean you work for it and then the government comes and takes a piece, and then often spends it in really bad ways because it's not their money.
“What, on my green earth would they do that for?” 😂
“Beat me up but then take me for a drink after” is literally the description of Jack Stauber’s Fighter lmao
She's going to be adorable!
Enjoy 🎉😂
*HOUND.
"what on my green earth would do that?!"😭😂
The same thing is for australian shepherds, though I’ve actually had mine since she was born, and we haven’t docked anything off of her.
"yeah their german" "oh that makes sense now" 💀 😭
"you design them, I manifest them"
They also crop the ears to make them stand up straight.
I was wondering why that wasn't mentioned as well. why the tail but not the ears? otherwise, he's usually quite accurate and funny with his dog knowledge
Some dogs do have ears that stand up normally but idk if this dog does it might have ears that just stand up on their own like many others do
Edit: he may have didn't realised it now that I've looked more into the dog
EXTRA INFO!:
Kangal: a LSGD that are very large and masculine, needs to be trained because of they're protective and territorial nature.
Alabai: A descendent from the kangal, very beautiful!masculine, intimidating, territorial and colored like a mastiff

She's in training to be my service dog.
Her tail was docked because if it hits a coffee table a little to hard it shatters into a couple dozen pieces if you own one you should know that
@@pupture9328 I know that. Dobie tails are fragile, and Happy Tail is also a big risk. So although it makes me sad, I understand the risks with a full tail, and I love her the way she is.

tails are docks to prevent severe injury to the dog during work.
@@yippeeflowersmany mutilated animals are not working dogs and are mutilated for 'the look' by assholes.
I’ve never agreed with cutting off their tails and clipping their ears.
Neither have I. Maybe we should cut of the person's ear and see how they like it.
