      So instead of just saying it'll eat everything they are upfront what works best and what doesn' t? CZs need a shorter oal and the forums are full of ammo that doesn't run well. Who would've thought that a double stack 1911 not made in Turkey or the Philippines would cost more and not just importing parts either cost more money? I don't even own a Kimber but jumping on the hate train is so convenient. Making it slim but double stack and not buying foreign mags for that could never lead to proprietary components. Wash me, but don't make me wet.

    • @JuggoJuggo
      @JuggoJuggo Год назад +1

      @@onpsxmember I like Berettas for nice metal framed pistols mine eats any crap I can put in there, randoms I found in a bag, even Civil Defense runs in it fine. CZs are a pain in ass to grab the slide, didn't know they had ammo problems, my friends and the other people on the league don't have any obvious problems, only one CZ is stock though. I'm not on a hate train, I sold guns for about 3 years, for the price Kimber should be better, some of best looking stuff around, but for that price there are way better options. All the proprietary stuff and their crap mags is stupid, you should have seen the look on peoples faces when I told them that Springfield 1911 mags work in Kimbers, "Wait. what, THANK GOD!" Too many stories about people having to have work done on feed ramps too, they always have good customer service though, guess practice makes perfect. The whole carry 1911 is stupid to me anyway so I'm a bit biased, like a fancy horse and buggy in the day of Demons.

  • @CooperativeCowboy25
    @CooperativeCowboy25 Год назад +103

    Really love the fact most companies making "carry 1911s" fail to understand what makes a good carry gun, considering almost none of them use a shorter grip length, almost all of them shorten the barrel for seemingly no reason, and they almost always make them in 9mm. At that point, you're paying $2k anyways, may as well just buy a 2011 and save yourself the hassle of having to tune a 9mm 1911.
    For clarification: There's nothing wrong with shortening the barrel, it's just odd that it's usually the only thing that changes size on a carry gun.

    • @WaterZer0
      @WaterZer0 Год назад +27

      Some common fucking sense, thank you. The slide is not hard to conceal unless it's super long; the grip is the most likely thing to show.

    • @CooperativeCowboy25
      @CooperativeCowboy25 Год назад

      @horseman2777 If you like Commander length barrel/slide and want it on your carry, get a CCO. The CCO model has a good reputation of reliability, amongst other *real* carry models of 1911s. For reference, a CCO is an officer frame with a commander sized barrel/slide. A lot of manufacturers label their 1911s as a CCO when really they're just a commander size (which also irks the FUCK outta me), so be sure to double check.
      As a side note, while I don't mind the officer size personally, I've heard it has a lesser reputation for reliability, while the defender sizes are a bit better. Overall, as mentioned previously, you're just better off sticking with a CCO.

    • @theodorehunter4765

      To be honest though, it really is not better than a CZ75, this probably gets less accuracy and less reliability in a smaller package, that is entirely proprietary to it's design.
      I would just get a CZ 75 Compact D PCR, it is 1K less than this and probably weighs less and will be easier to get accessories for.

      If they made it mag compatible with a 2011, then they would need the grip profile of a 2011. Same for Glock mags, the whole point of this gun was to have a slimmer and more ergonomic grip. That said, I agree that using a Sig or CZ mag might have been preferable.

All I've ever ran are the Kimber pro tac mags and I've never had the first problem out of any of them. @theodorehunter4765 Год назад +1

      The lack of reliability is really overstated. They make about 10 times as many 1911s as all other manufacturers, so naturally, they have more lemons, and people love to talk about a bad gun more than a good one.
      Furthermore, from what I understand, Kimber has amazing customer support, and will fix any problems you come across.
      I bought a used Kimber TLE RL 2, and with the exception of a cheap 10 round mag (that jammed in any 1911 I put it in), it has been flawless.
      I did "replace" it with a Dan Wesson Specialist, as that was my dream gun, but I still have it, and plan on giving it to my son once he's old enough.
      That all being said, there's a lot of "similar" stuff at or around that price point with more aftermarket support.
      To be fair, if you want a gun with the exact same feature set (aluminum frame, optic cut, ambi-safety, and a rail), you're going to have to buy a Wilson Combat EDC X9 for about twice the price.

    I bought one Kimber. ONE. It started malfunctioning because of the crappy MIM wrongly done extractor. Today the ONLY thing still original is the stainless frame. Literally that's it. I built my own custom 1911 on my own for the first time by hand taking my time buying quality parts and fitting them by learning how to do it watching videos from the best. Better fit and much higher quality than the Kimber crap parts it came with

    $1,700 for a carry pistol when there are a ton of options available to you at half the price. I guess this is for those that are diehard 1911 fans and would not consider anything else. Less we forget, you also need to get a red dot which puts the price up to over $2,000.

    • @theodorehunter4765
      @theodorehunter4765 Год назад +1

    • @theodorehunter4765
      @theodorehunter4765 Год назад

      @@Quality_Guru 2011s are definitely more accurate and they have a MUCH better trigger.
      Reliability comes down to the manufacturer. I'd put a Staccato up against any Glock, SIG, or M&P any day of the week. RIA 2011s? Not so much.
      Maintenance can be an issue, if you never clean your guns, but ideally, you should be cleaning your guns after every range session and once a month just to look it over. Quality 1911s/2011s run as long as they are kept wet.
      As far as parts wearing out, springs need to be replaced every couple thousand rounds, like most guns. Most people will never completely wear out a 2011.
      There is a reason that elite police agencies are switching to Staccatos.
