Hello Nick! The sink is a BLANCO sink model METRA 6S, and the material SILGRANIT is a mix of sand, plastic material, colour powder (+some other ingredients) and it is available in many colours from white to black (if you want to replace it). We offer some cleaning helpers to get your sink "white" again. Also a good practice is filling the sink up with as hot water as you get and and normal amount of washing powder, mix it a bit and let it stay for 30min+ ;) Have a nice day! Michael (SILGRANIT sinks product developer at BLANCO)
In Germany we don‘t discriminate between bedroom or working room or other types of rooms beside kitchen, bathroom, bath, Abstellkammer, basement,.. Apartments are usually advertised by the number of rooms, because with a closet, every room can become a bedroom and every room can become an office or a library or a music room,… 😉
An American bedroom must have a built-in wall closet and a window large enough to exit through in emergencies. Many years ago, American bedrooms also often didn't have built in wall closets because it added to the property taxes charge against the house. Back then, large wardrobes were used, as is done now in Germany.

You can allso replace it with a new modell in black. It should fit snuggly into the premade hole in the Worktop. Edit: what is up? Well not the curtains in any of the rooms 🤣 Joking aside, you can get some really nice, cheap, light blocking curtains in Ikea or Dänische Bettenlager or even Kik. Hope it helps 😉

That adapter at 13:50 looks like a death trap. Apple power supplies can change the plug to something more appropriate like the europlug which even works in Switzerland.
US power plugs really are quite bad. For starters, they can be "live" even when there's still metal exposed. And if that's not enough, they fall out of their sockets when you look at them the wrong way. The plugs are also so cheaply made that Uri Geller could bend the pins with his mind (still couldn't do spoons, tho).
Some years ago I also had that white sink in my kitchen. I used to make it a lttle bit wet, took a dishwashing brush and put washing powder for white laundry onto the surface, then let it absorbe over night. It will all be whiter each time you do it. I did that once a week or so. Nearly no effort.
Aw, thanks. Loved it. I want that kitchen counter! I like the thinking spaces and the theater entry is erste Klasse. I admire your focus on your work- do what you love. Guten Sonntag! 👍☀️

That seems like a good idea. In the US, I use a product called “Lime-Out” to remove deposits caused by hard water or rust. It’s acidic, to dissolve that stuff. I expect that there are similar products in Germany, or anywhere.

You can use household bleach on your sink. That should help with the stains. A possible explanation for the different floor counting stiles: The correct name for the upper floors are "Stockwerk" or "Obergeschoss" often abbreviated to "Stock" or "Geschoss" (which could be falsely translated into 'stick' and 'projectile') "Stockwerk" and "Obergeschoss" are the name for the rooms you have put atop of the ground floor rooms. So if you want to prevent confusion, you could just translate "Stock" or "Geschoss" into 'upper floor'. So the "zweiter Stock" would become the second upper floor. "Etage" is shorter and more common in the norther half of Germany. "Obergeschoss" rather translates to "upstairs", cause it's ony used in 2-floor-buildings.
@@holger_p Not sure about the Obergeschoss part. You absolutely do hear people talking about "zweites/drittes Obergeschoss", so it's not only used for 2-storey buildings.
@@holger_p According to Wiktionary the word Etage has French roots. Also it is a little bit ambiguous, because "erste Etage" can mean the ground floor or the first upper floor.

You'd have the same issue with the electrical sockets in The UK, as we use a completely different type from those in The USA or on Continental Europe. In fact people from The UK, when travelling abroad, will expect to have to use adaptors to get their UK appliances to work, the only exceptions in Europe being Malta, Cyprus and Ireland where they do use the same plugs and wall sockets.
I came to Israel from California in 1982. I learn from your entertaining video that the homes here and the instant coffee and half bathrooms and windows and closetless bedrooms and ALL the rest are clearly German or European standards. Never paid attention to the difference in counting apartment floors in America as compared to Israel. Like Germany, here you're on the first floor when you're actually on the second. I guess that is bound to occur when you in America behave as if your 13th floor is the 14th.
@@leDespicable I don’t know what their laws are regarding such issues! In the US there is a law called the Americans with Disability Act which requires that those people with disabilities must be accommodated! Again, I don’t know what the law is in Germany!!!
I will also add that the AWDA applies to Public, Taxpayer supported facilities and buildings such as a City Hall! You don’t see an elevator required in a privately owned home that has two or three stories!!! 🤔
14:06 thats what happend with the american outlets happend all the time.......once you plug it in, they just fall out. The germans "plug in" is "plugged in", its even hard to get that sucker out 🙂
In Europe there are LIFTS in ALL habitable buildings with at least 5 stories. You are ONLY right on not having "elevators" though; maybe ASCENSORS could be found
IIRC, the levels of houses are also counted differently, depending on whether you live in Western or Eastern Germany, and "Stockwerk", "Etage" and "Obergeschoß" mean different things.
My apartment building in (former) East Berlin numbers its floor the American way (which incidentally is also the Russian way), but I think that's unusual even in the East.
The hard drive setup screams Network Attached Storage. Maybe LTT can get right on that Also maybe get an American powerstrip and plug that into a new adapter. Should solve all adapter issues
In Belgium it's also pretty rare to see a bedroom with built-in closets. I never had any built-ins wherever I lived. I had no idea there weren't kip windows in America. In Belgium they are very common too. Kitchen here are definitely part of the home, we don't move them with us. To me that doesn't make any sense to move a kitchen because in every house or appartment I lived in the kitchens were very different in size and layout. The cabinets in the previous place I lived were in an L-shape with an island, in my kitchen it's all alongside 1 wall and I wouldn't be able to fit an island. So how does that work in Germany? Do they make do with an ill-fitting kitchen or spend money to costumize it to the space? But what if your kitchen cabinet style/color is no longer being made, do you end up with cabinets in different styles/colors?
Because I’m a carpenter and modifying kitchens are a real part of my day to day business let me answer! The trend of not having a kitchen is very real. Especially for newly build apartments. If you leave your flat after a few years many people let it stay in there for small price tag (but only if the new guys actually want it!) In German furniture stores like ikea for example, it’s common to pay an extra and having people just set up the new kitchen. But if you let’s say want to move households with your old kitchen, you will likely have to make a new ground plan as you already stated. Here there are 2 rules of thump. Either you pay a professional (or have someone in you reach) or you just try to make it fit as good as you can for the time it takes you to Safe up for a new kitchen. That said many landlords actually now try to give you a flat with a kitchen but at a pretty unreasonable uptick in monthly rent. So having all that said I hope it clears some things up!
The apartment looks pretty nice. Seems to be a newer building. Regarding the sink, i would consider to change it , you could call your landlord that it is not acceptable like this, depending on your contract he may be in charge to replace it for a new one. ..the extension cord...this isn't a good idea attaching so many converters due to safety.
You didn't mention that the riser heights on steps in Germany tend to be uncomfortably nigh to cram the steps in a smaller space. Awful. In the last building we lived in, the riser height was 8"!

Since french was the language of the nobles, many french words are in common use in Germany. Climax was more around 1900, but some survived.

Glad Mike didn't go into specifics on what else can be done on that bed ... 🙂 and if he doesn't know yet, he'll figure it out, eventually ;-)
Or maybe he won’t, because not everyone has to. Perhaps he’ll become a member of the cake club or garlic club
Built-in closets are so cool.
@nalf . Go and buy a Metall refillable coffeetab For your mashine , and normal Coffee from Polen or the netherland so you can spare a Lot of Money 😉
Your apartment looks good...
you forgot to take us out on the porches.
Otherwise, good tour.
Danke. Ich bin hier heute aus Köln in Ansbach und ich habe gemerkt wie hier die Autobahn Baustellen am Kreuz A6 A7 sind.
American Crew at Amazon or many other places in Germany as well. Its actually cheaper here than Target and other places.
In Norway we say 1 floor for the ground floor.
Eyyy just wanna say I have the same closet. Had it for years! It's not amazing, but it works I guess.
Your videos must be fun with the Dynamic Island 😅
No elevators is probably a good thing! Tough game for Andy and the Cal Bears against Wazzu yesterday but they are 3 - 2 on the season! 🤔
Well, it's not a good thing for elderly and disabled people who are looking for a flat.
The germans "plug in" is "plugged in", its even hard to get that sucker out 🙂
Really nice Apartment
In Europe there are LIFTS in ALL habitable buildings with at least 5 stories. You are ONLY right on not having "elevators" though; maybe ASCENSORS could be found
Nice you did not call your brother's room a dungeon as I expected. 🍒

Would not call that 'a lot of books'.
IIRC, the levels of houses are also counted differently, depending on whether you live in Western or Eastern Germany, and "Stockwerk", "Etage" and "Obergeschoß" mean different things.
Sometimes in German houses there is another "Hochpaterre (high ground floor)" between the ground floor and the first floor. 🤯
@@S-V-E-N-1-9-7-8 In public buildings in the US, it's called a mezzanine
My apartment building in (former) East Berlin numbers its floor the American way (which incidentally is also the Russian way), but I think that's unusual even in the East.
I love Mt. Baldo above Malcesine. Took Cable car up and walked down to Malcesine.
You have to clean this kind of sink immediately after using it ...or it will look like yours! 😆
Hey Nick, Amazon has American Crew in Germany ;)
The hard drive setup screams Network Attached Storage. Maybe LTT can get right on that
Also maybe get an American powerstrip and plug that into a new adapter. Should solve all adapter issues
the Kaffeetable ist ein Couchtisch !!!
If you leave your flat after a few years many people let it stay in there for small price tag (but only if the new guys actually want it!)
In German furniture stores like ikea for example, it’s common to pay an extra and having people just set up the new kitchen.

Fun fact: What you call Coffee Table is a Couch Table in German. In Germany a Coffee Table (Kaffeetisch) is something different☕️🍰
@@hendrik8536 Some people have dedicated tables or rooms just to eat/drink coffee and cake (for e g. invited guests) but they still have a dining table e.g in the kitchen. Old fashioned but still exists... Or coffee and cake is directly served at the dining table and not at the couch table...
Hey Nick, it’s actually possible to get some American Crew products, but it’s very difficult because you have to search for the right hairdresser that sells it. You will most likely find it in a high class hairdresser that is super expensive :D
Hey there,
It's actually no problem at all on Amazon, 9 bucks the hair wax 😉
I recently saw it at a hair dresser chain as well, but of course they take a share...

Why not use a us to eu adapter pluged unto the wall with an usa extension lead with 7/8 connections on. I bring an Irl/uk 1 with me when going snowboarding in auatria, hence only need to bring 1 irl/eu adapter....

What about the balcony tour?
They're so lucky to have that balcony with that view! The whole appartment is such a gift. Well... except the noisy street right next to the bedrooms.
Probably realized it would give their location away and decided against it
@@user-bj2lu9qt3o In SHA, the streets are rolled up every evening by the employees of the public utility company and brought to the warehouse, where the dust is then removed before the streets are rolled out again the next morning. Day after day. Thus, the traffic noise at night should not be a problem
American Crew is fully available in quite some online stores - only checked amazon and zalando, but both have the "AMERICAN CREW FORMING CREAM"
Maybe not the exact same though?
What about the balcony?
we do !!! have the german style windows for tipping or opening or for the balconies such as you say are not available in the USA. they ARE available in the US if one wants to have them. this is i n the NE USA. if they are available in Oregon or Wash. i can t say. all best R

Most German people sleep with the windows tilted, most of the year that's really all you need. Having an electrical device run all through the night and right next to my face sounds like an absolute nightmare.
