Comparing the Jump Brass sounds between OB-X8 and other synths!

- Hi, Fukushima here!
We've rent OB-X8 specially for 5-days. It was first appearance on Japan store.
I'm sure all synthesists/keyboardists over the world wants to make this experiment. Enjoy!

All sounds are from same MIDI sequence played/recorded with Cubase.

Very nice. The OB-X8 sounds spot on. With some slight EQ to make it 'sizzle' more and tweaking of the reverb would make it identical to the recorded version. Some of the others were reasonable close like the Montage, Nord Wave and Arturia. But just not as close as the OB-X8 is. The real analog DNA of the OB-X8 shines through, here!

I can tell the obx8 is a bit off, but then the others make it sound most correct. With a bit of reverb and mixing it can be so close!
The original sound was blatantly run through a chorus aswell as a reverb to give it that full. The nord wave was quite food thou.
音色が違うのでやっぱりOBかなと思いつつもこの音域はこっちが面白いと他の機種を分けて使う方法も面白いなと思いました。

Wonderful, thanks a lot! Can you also try warm Oberheim brass, from choruses of Ryan Paris - Dolce Vita (1983), which was made on OB-8, please? And also OB-8 fon effect from verses of this song. It will be interesting to hear if it can be repeated, because the new model OB-X8 includes all three models: Ob-X, Ob-Xa and Ob-8.
I think the original sound was run through a chorus and of course through some heavy 70s/80s amplifiers. Nice attempts still .
Well they tried at least we know the montage sample engine can get very very close
Of the patches demoed here, the Montage was closest right out of the box. The OB-X8 needed a little detuning and a little reverb and it would have been closer. The rest of them weren’t even close.
You should have definetly used the AL-1 engine in the Korg Nautilus to program the sound. Superior results compared to what you shared here!
The truth is you have to find a certain programed sound then have to modify it ! My Roland xp-50 i found one and knew i could get the exact sound which today i have never heard, or seen yet, but most people get close to it, plus i ran my keyboard into transformer based pre amp's etc to get more of that harmonic tone which really helped, cause the keyboard lack's that analog harmonics the OB can do ! Ed used his Marshall to run it threw.

You need to detune the second oscillator just a little bit more, and run it through a reverb.
It is an old hit by great band but it's time to move on. You will never need that Jump or Final Countdown sound anymore 😂
Wrong. •You• will never need them. If we moved on from everything in the past, the present would be very boring. These songs are not bound by their time. So, don’t tell him what to do.
This is the case when it doesn't really matter which synthesizer the sound is played with. But there are cases when you really must have a particular synthesizer in order to reproduce a particular signature sound you're after. That's why OB-X isn't as important as Juno 106 some sounds of which cannot be be achieved with anything else.

FM音源(DX7等)やLA音源(D-50等)とかも比べると面白い
Nord wave 2 sounds best but there is clearly some discrete chorus fx or detuning going on

the F - C - Csus2 part of that should be legato.

実機ならYAMAHAが一番近く、次がnordって感じかな。
KORGは似ても似つかずで全くの別物。
Rolandの方はホワンっとしたチープな感じ。
None of those patches are correct.
