Great to hear.. wish i could have play with him.
I just love the bass playing of this man, it's absolutely out of this world, from Caravan to the Hatfields and more, Richard Sinclair is clearly a legend.
Wish I could have been there. I've always loved his voice and bass playing. Even when he played with Camel for a short time. Hats off to Caravan, Hatfield, Matching Mole, etc.
I was at the show, which took place at the now-defunct Spike & Charlie's Wine Bar on Cathedral St. in Mt. Vernon. The rest of the show was Richard without the band. I hope someone can upload the video from that. Anyway, the restaurant was across the street from Myerhoff Symphony Hall and a few blocks from the Lyric Theater. That same night there was a theatrical performance at one of those venues - I can't remember which venue (probably the Lyric) nor the name of the show. But it so happened that the drummer from the touring company dropped by Spike & Charlie's after Richard's show (and his own, obviously) had ended... the one and only Pierre Moerlen!!! That apparently wasn't a surprise to some people, as they had copies of Gong albums in hand for Pierre to authograph.
I’m a huge Hatfield And The North and Richard Sinclair Fan from Baltimore as well. This is wonderful and I don’t know how I missed this ! Now preserved to History
Magnífico. Thanks Richard!!!!!!!!! Y por supuesto, gracias por compartirlo
Richard is a terrific bassist and I love his voice. Our Piano came from Dave's shop in Herne Bay . I bought it some 32 years ago, so from about the same time as this gig was going on. I never thought about the pun on Avenue Piano. I visited the shop 2 or 3 times to make up my mind, Dave was very helpful and patient. PS. A nice performance, especially from a scratch band.
What a treat ! thanks for the upload! AA Man and Back to Herne Bay Front....not often performed. Been on the Cantebury wagon since 1970, with Caravan's 2nd album, bought for a dollar just for the cool cover.
I think Richard went into Hatfield and the North's "Halfway Between Heaven and Earth" at 20:01 and it gave me a chill. This man is a treasure and the whole reason I started learning bass.
I seen Richard and Caravan, Curved Air original line-ups, also seen Amon Duul and Gong, Camel 🐫 Here and Now plus Roy Harper all around the same time as this, '88 -93 .It was quite a time for bands reforming and gigging around Britain....
My favourite bass player ever !
Richard your a legend and the band were great with so little rehearsal.
I was at this show!
Yes, you were. I can attest to that. :)
Amazing work!
Some timestamps for the songs:
O Caroline 3:04
A.A. Man 8:25
Winter Wine 14:42
Back to Herne Bay Front 23:48
Share It 30:50
It Didn't Matter Anyway 35:03
Cheers!
lindo , sensacional . Richard Sinclair o melhor Baixista do mundo. ele toca de forma aveludada.
Listen to that fretless tone! I grew up in Herne Bay and Richard evokes its atmosphere well. Good to hear his brief return to Caravan referenced in this performance. These songs sound like demos in their often chaotic roughness. An unexpected gem!
I was there. The venue was a place called Spike & Charlie's. Somewhere, I have the video of the rest of the night's performance, which was Richard performing without the backing band. If I find it then I'll upload it and come back to post a link in these comments.
Sensacional timbre do baixo de Richard Sinclair!!! Toca muito!!!!!! Canta muito!!!🤙🤙🤙🤘🤘🙌🙌🙌🙌
Fantastic, thanks so much for ... SHARING IT
Wow! How did I miss that one? Long-time Canterbury fan and Richard was right in my back yard. Missing This and missing National Health at Hopkins in 1979 will go down as epic fails...
I missed both shows as well. BUMMER
Solo e soltanto unico
❤ thanks
Great stuff. I got the the fear thinking about learning 6 Hatfield songs the afternoon before the gig. You guys did a great job. Richard appears to be very happy.
:-)
I was at this show! Thanks for posting! (I can't remember the name of the venue, what was it?)
That lady of Robert was called "Marlies" ?
Some decent lighting would have vastly improved this show ! I can’t actually see Richard in the gloom
brunosamppa could possibly fix this video with low light issue and remaster it into hd maybe 😀www.youtube.com/@brunosamppa/videos
