Because it probably does not matter much in the short term, the existence of Maria Theresa and Bill gates might make the farm more appealing than the mine at 17:06 But there is also the ocean liner and no red cross, so this also doesn't make it clear
Could it be a consideration at 11:00 to set a Monarchy revolution up for the next turn? Play Reserves + take Universitas and build 2 steps, next turn do a Revolution + finish Universitas. The current row is not that interesting, so its not like you'd lose a very important card (especially because you already have Knights in hand), you'd lose 1 food + 1 resource to corruption but you get the big sci discount on Monarchy and don't have to take Reserves.
Yes, that is a line that could be considered. I think with missing out on the reserves and taking 1 resource and 1 food corruption it could get a problem that I have not that many resources to work with. Also while there are not that interesting cards coming down the row, there is always a chance that something will be available at the next turn which would be nice to take, for example Eleanor could be an interesting pick at the next turn. So it would be a bit of a commitment to already take one food and one resource corruption at this turn. The one food that I lose to corruption should also not be underestimated, as I am rather low on population for now, and if there is no help from the developments, the one missing food from corruption (and the potential two missing food from Reserves) could be quite costly. But overall I think it is a playable line and could work out nicely.
Naturally I do not have your skill, but I feel that in the early game you made two misplays. The first was the Monarchy pick without capitalizing on it in a timely manner, and the second one was Hammurabi without additional military actions, leaving you without hoos options for political actions and tactics, thus weakest and uninformed about events and consequently punished. Great comeback though! (I am not there yet, but comments spoiled it)
Yes, I agree that with the revolution getting delayed that much, taking Monarchy for three CA was quite costly and in hindsight maybe not really worth it. However I am not sure if I would call it a misplay, as I probably would do the same decisions again (with the information that was available at the turns). I think there is a good chance that I can do the monarchy revolution immediately at the turn after taking it. Sqwndw has Alex and no free population, so is very unlikely to seed. In order for Flackk to push he needs to have drawn an event that he is willing to push, and if he does, then one of the 4 (out of 10) developments that give additional food/resources have to be revealed in order to prevent a clean revolution. Sadly development of markets was opened, which made me delay the revolution (also with knights being available for one CA), and the turns after there was the universitas which I still think was more important than doing the revolution, also with sqwndw being nicely prepared to go for that wonder as well.
