yup. 6 USD is for 2-3 days for me here in jakarta, indonesia. if you can cook. Edit: even a pack of indomie instant noodle, is just under 1USD. You can buy 2 or 3 packs depends on your region there. And it's enough for 2 days food. Of course you eat the noodles with some ingredients as well. Meat veg, egg..
Definitely a difference in income. In the US, at least in my state, one meal at a restaurant can be around $15. I was surprised by the relative low price of food in VN
I mean back home here in the US, if I were to go on a trip to another city, I would expect to spend upwards of $200 a day if I’m including an airbnb stay. Usually people expect vacation expenses to be higher than normal expenses, so if $32 is a lot then sign me up to visit Vietnam.
For foreigner, the $10 pant maybe a good deal, but I think you prob pay the actual price of the pant cost. They always put the price up pretty high so by the time u negotiate it down. Yeah vietnam is really cheap, a 5 star luxury hotel only cost you from 42$ to 300$ and a if u only bring 100$ you can have 5 meals a day plus bunch of snack and u still got 40 bucks left. The streets food are even better, it only cost less than a buck. Except when u go to a fast food joint, they'll charge the same as in the US
I would live here if my job was a stay at home type of thing and just work off my computer and make money like that. This is the dream. Affordable life with awesome people and great food. Humble.
Pretty sure its still sold in the US and Europe too, they said they were going to stop sales in 2023, and there’s probably gonna be a lot of unused stock that’ll find its way to store shelves for a while after the “official” end of production/sales. But let’s be honest, it’s not like it’d be the first time big pharmaceutical/other types of multinationals have used non-Western countries as test guinea pigs, or sold products they knew were of a poor standard and/or toxic to humans that can’t be sold in Western countries - even though they’ve got a long history of doing the same here too lol.
