People don't have a clue how fast these big jets actually fly. This video is perfect for demonstrating that because it's so close to the ground there's a point of reference to look at, and it's not even the typical cruising speed; it's slower.
They probably turned off the GPWS warning breaker. It is common to do that in air shows like these since such a constant warning would distract the pilots.
Translating from a pilot´s collegue: "The pilot was head pilot of the now extinct Airbus A310 fleet from TAP and he went to Berlin to train specially for that airshow in Évora(Portugal)" He is a portuguese pilot with lots and lots of experience. And he is a former jet fighter pilot also.
I live out near an airport where these planes get tested. They have them do touch and go's, flying in circles in a 3 mile radius. It's amazing: A. how quiet they are as opposed to other planes, especially considering their size, and B. how slowly they can fly and stay airborne.
"This was an airshow, it was previously planned and trained. So pilots, don't try this at home!" If you're a A310 pilot it'd be more like, so pilots, don't try this at work!
It is an A310, it was a farewell since they left TAP fleet that year! In the past I attended lots of airshows, even FL Duxford 2006 or Leuchars 2005 and a bunch of tigermeets and I never ever seen this before! It was f**** amazing!
Fighter jet pilot: I can do a low pass. TAP pilot: Hold my beer. Fighter jet pilot: HOLY SHIIIITTT!! o.0.!?....... TAP pilot: BITCH PLEASE! xD.... Portuguese AIR FORCE; Making the best pilots since 1950 ;)
Yes it was, but one of the fews handling an Airbus like a jet fighter, you don´t see many ex jet fighter pilots doing this manouvers with commercial jet planes.
That Hurra is the right music for that scene! The left tilt..well..I already saw some videos of planes crashing trying to do the same thing. If the move was totally planned, then brilliantly executed!
Just to clear some stuff out. The flight was planned, was part of the goodbye of the A310 fleet from TAP, the show was planned, the captain of the plane was the A310 fleet commander, he knows the airport well, and like someone said the runway is the highest part of the terrain. THe terrain goes down on the top of the runway and on the sides.
And I always thought Russian or Korean pilots would be insane...never thought about the silent Portuguese.....even a Russian would be sacred to death...that is just crazy and awesome :)
@Mauricio51209 The info is in the description of the video. This is the Évora Airshow and I think it's quite famous here in Europe. This video shows the farewell flight of the A319 or A320 from TAP.
Nice fly by but every pilot will tell you it is not as difficult as you may think. After all, we have to practice aborted landings on a regular basis. Flying low over the runway in ground effect too is not that hard to do; just don't miscalculate your climbing turn or the wing tip may catch which is sure to ruin your day :-)
@Mauricio51209 Good points. Because you obviously know more about air shows than me could you answer a question? Who are these pilots? Do they own these planes? Do they rent them? Do they work for companies who supply the planes for them?
@Mauricio51209 You don´t get it.. This was an air show from the pilots. It was called Evora Air Show from 2007. Read the movie´s title, it says Airshow.. So it is a non-tripulate plane..
You are the first one asking for my approval criteria. I didn't want to make comments approval but I was forced to it when receiving a lot of negative or insulting comments in all my videos. The criteria is that positive comments are approved, and negative disapproved. Anyway I don't see notifications for all comments, it looks like notifications are failing, so it's possible that a positive coment is not approved... Because I don't see it. I do what I can, sorry...
I don't know if this is real or faked using some editing program. However, if it IS real then I just wanna say that those Portuguese pilots have some serious balls (or skills if you prefer that, lol). I've flown with TAP before, but never seen something like this.
Most people don't expect an airliner to have any capability beyond what is necessary to haul passengers or cargo, but they are high performance aircraft, and can do things that would blow your mind. You just never get a chance to see it. Good thing we have the internet.
I concur with ryanjmcgowan - applauding this pilot is ridiculous. What did he prove to the audience? He showed how reckless a crew can be when piloting an airliner. The dirty pass was very much a near miss. His situational awareness of the wingtip proximity to ground at that speed would not have been 'within limits'. There is a saying in aviation: "There are old pilots and bold pilots, but there are no old bold pilots."
Nice video. I'm going to take a flight from Moscow to Lisbon on 30 July. Anyone could tell me please is TAP airlines and it's pilots are good and can be trusted? Thanks.
@Mauricio51209 actually, the flight computer at Habsheim did exactly what it was supposed to do. The pilots screwed up and did not correctly override the computer to rely solely on manual input.
You could be right. This same airline ran the longest regular airline run in the world during the late 40s and early 50s, linking Lisboa to Luanda in Angola and then Maputo in Mozambique, using DC3s, without a single accident ever. Each flight took 7 days, through very difficult conditions (another 7 days for the return flight).
The first 6 seconds are immense. Best fly-by I've ever seen for a commercial type jet.
Best? He came damn close to hitting that left wing on the ground and cartwheeling.
I agree with you 100 %
@@rsattahip indeed...but still....the best.
Best low pass on RUclips!
People don't have a clue how fast these big jets actually fly. This video is perfect for demonstrating that because it's so close to the ground there's a point of reference to look at, and it's not even the typical cruising speed; it's slower.
Meanwhile in the cockpit: Pull up, pull up. Overspeed. Too low. Gear. Terrain, terrain, terrain.
Imagino!! :)
Vitor Oliveira Yup😂😂😂😂😂
pretty fucking much haha, unless there is a way to disable warnings
Desse jeito kkk
Vitor Oliveira and time low flaps
This is probably the best low pass high speed video I've seen on RUclips. Insane closeup !
whoop whoop pull up, whoop whoop pull up
They probably turned off the GPWS warning breaker. It is common to do that in air shows like these since such a constant warning would distract the pilots.
BewareTheIdes a
Prolly not
Nope
are u a viewer of flago
I cannot even image what the warning systems were screaming. Amazing flying, no autopilots here
THE PILOT TRIED TO GO LOWER BUT HIS BALLS TOUCHED THE GROUND!!...
He was actually trying to pull up but his massive balls were weighing down the plane.🤣
I've watched the first 7 seconds so many times. Incredible!
Grande piloto e jardineiro.. aparou a relva toda.
+Gabriel Amparo xD
Podes crer 😂
Did you see the left wingtip on that 2nd pass? Holee molee!
Yes, I thought it was going to crash. I've seen so many of these RUclips videos where the plane crashes.
Yeah right it almost hit the ground
Oh boy! 😬😬😬
That looks so dangerous most of landing crash I've seen were bank angles
Last acident of tap was in 1977. Since it passed more than 40 years its one of the safest companys in the world.
Airline pilots dream... to fly a jet like a cessna 152
I had to watch this several times. Thanks for posting.
Love old videos like this, Quick and straight to the point.
Amazing show!
as an spanish-american, i feel proud of our portugese brothers. Saudações!
Holy hell that first pass!
You don't see it here, but i was there and the tip of the wing actually lifted a lot of dust... my heart stopped for a second when he did that.
I don't remember that dust, and I was closer ;)
TUCKIE10 So was i, but ok, i remember it like it was yesterday...
Green Tuga that was reckless.
That's the Wingtip Vortices...like a horizontal tornado that is generated off each wingtip as the high and low air pressure tries to equalize
Translating from a pilot´s collegue:
"The pilot was head pilot of the now extinct Airbus A310 fleet from TAP and he went to Berlin to train specially for that airshow in Évora(Portugal)"
He is a portuguese pilot with lots and lots of experience. And he is a former jet fighter pilot also.
Saudações do Brasil ! Belíssimo trabalho dos pilotos portugueses !
Who'd a though that so many of the worlds leading experts in aviation spend their evenings on RUclips!!!?
I live out near an airport where these planes get tested. They have them do touch and go's, flying in circles in a 3 mile radius. It's amazing: A. how quiet they are as opposed to other planes, especially considering their size, and B. how slowly they can fly and stay airborne.
OMG AMAZING IVE ALWAYS WANTED TO SEE THIS AT FAST SPEED LIKE THE PLANES!!
Isto é um pedacinho do que os melhores do mundo sabem fazer!! TAP sempre!!!
HOLY CRAP!!! What a low and amazing pass!!
Balls of steel. This is one of my fav low pass video. I come back here every year or so just to live it again lol.
"This was an airshow, it was previously planned and trained. So pilots, don't try this at home!"
If you're a A310 pilot it'd be more like, so pilots, don't try this at work!
My gawd! What. A. Pilot. Amazing!
The beginning is the most frightening video on You Tube. Wish I was there.
wow one of the greatest fly by's i have ever seen
almost seems unreal
One of my favourites aircraft clips
FAP: Um orgulho nacional!

the first grazing was magnificent. VEEEEEERY BEAUTIFUL ! ! !
The best Pilots, the best company...!!!!
Fighter jet pilot: I can do a low pass.
TAP pilot: Hold my beer.
Fighter jet pilot: HOLY SHIIIITTT!! o.0.!?.......
TAP pilot: BITCH PLEASE!

But this guy was a fighter jet pilot
Yes it was, but one of the fews handling an Airbus like a jet fighter, you don´t see many ex jet fighter pilots doing this manouvers with commercial jet planes.
PORTUGUESE PILOTS THE BEST !!!
TAP PORTUGAL ONE OF THE BEST COMPANY´S IN THE WORLD!
0:27 seeing that bank made my heart jump out as if I'm the pilot that looks so dangerous
Almost 3 years ago... what a BIG aviation moment! :)
13 years ago now!
@@luvpinas123 15 years now 😂
It's not because I'm portuguese that I'm going to say this but this is just BEAUTIFUL ! Thank you so much for posting this ;)
Só podia ser TAP =)
That Hurra is the right music for that scene!
The left tilt..well..I already saw some videos of planes crashing trying to do the same thing. If the move was totally planned, then brilliantly executed!
That was pretty insane.
A310-304 CS-TEI msn 495, had 5 operators mostly TAP Portugal, was retired in 2013. Nice sounding CF6 engines.
It this very important that pilots know how to manage a difficult situation
Fantástico!!!
Ué tu aqui kkkkkkk
Just to clear some stuff out.

Great vídeo!
My God .... this crazy Tava pilot or aircraft was on a test? Congratulations on the video ..
I can't believe that wing tip didn't hit the ground. Wow!
Loucura, loucura loucura! Muito bom. O vídeo é excelente. Adorei ver um avião deste tamanho fazendo um belo vôo
tap air pilots are some of the best pilots in the world

i have a question is this plane with tap airlines?
"This is your captain speaking. Please look through the window and who see the pennie at the tarmac wins a bag of chips"
TAP AIR PORTUGAL ONE OF THE BEST COMPANY IN THE WORLD!
PORTUGUESE PILOT´S THE BEST!!!
There is a video about several SM 79s bombing an airfield&factories in Spain playing.
Where is the A310?
Nice flying for a Bus.
melhores pilotos de sempre !
Very cool. Those kinds of manoveurs require intense concentration and enormous skill.
Nice fly by but every pilot will tell you it is not as difficult as you may think.

@Mauricio51209 Good points. Because you obviously know more about air shows than me could you answer a question? Who are these pilots? Do they own these planes? Do they rent them? Do they work for companies who supply the planes for them?
I'm surprised that none of the small planes didn't get sucked into the jets on the first clip, that plane was low. Amazing. Breathtaking.
@Mauricio51209 You don´t get it.. This was an air show from the pilots. It was called Evora Air Show from 2007. Read the movie´s title, it says Airshow.. So it is a non-tripulate plane..

WOOOAH! take me next!
Seriously, excellent skills & a whole lotta balls!
How close to the ground is left wingtip on lefturn?
Nao sei por que a TAP nao faz mais voos internacionais de Evora, era tao bom poder voar de la para Porto, agora nem de carro podemos mais ir.
just how much wind did it kick up on the second pass, it sounded like about 30-35 knots
I don't know if this is real or faked using some editing program.
However, if it IS real then I just wanna say that those Portuguese pilots have some serious balls (or skills if you prefer that, lol).

@hotdog0018 How is it to close to the public? i'd like to be within touching distance!!! litterally.
That cockpit should have been a hell of alarms xD
How do we try it at home?

@bertsan531 No, A310 had been retired from TAP fleet and replaced by brand new A330 ;)
this proves that with something with great size, has such grace.
Pilot has MAD skills!! Would fly with him anytime...
@SELECCAO100 Are you Portuguese then???
Nice video. I'm going to take a flight from Moscow to Lisbon on 30 July. Anyone could tell me please is TAP airlines and it's pilots are good and can be trusted? Thanks.
..yep, this plane was specially equiped with some special seats...toilet seats, always thinking of the passengers needs :o
beautiful low passage
bom piloto e bom avião. foi o ultimo voo desse avião com as cores da TAP
for what flaps? It has speed so it has lift. You use the flaps to have lift at lower speeds to make it groundable.
@Mauricio51209 actually, the flight computer at Habsheim did exactly what it was supposed to do. The pilots screwed up and did not correctly override the computer to rely solely on manual input.
Should've buzzed the tower Maverick
