I did however, after I read your comment, watch it again and perform the same operation just to join you on the frontier. Just curious... For anyone looking in 2022, this is still a great role! If you are someone who can explain technical concepts in an easy to manage manner, this is THE role for you. This is the key to being a great BI Analyst, and then Senior, Lead, Manager etc. You have the ability to communicate above and below your technical level, you will do wonders.
    It's for those people who like being heroes. Because when things go well, no one really thanks their BI team. But if something goes wrong, they are the first people to hear about it lol. I love it! And I hope you do too!

    Learning coding is not as difficult as many think. Coming from mathematics background, I had little programming skills. In 3 months after my grad (2017), I taught myself Excel (considering learning functions: sumifs, if, vlookup/index,so much more). Then I landed my first job as production analyst in a manufacturing industry untill Covid19 broke out and get laid off (now looking for a job). 3 years later, I am very comfortable with ; PYTHON, R , SQL and Excel (advanced)
    As I am looking for a job, I am learning from edx , udemy and udicity. My focus is Data science related courses. Every related video I see in RUclips, I cant resist not watching it. I hope one day I land a job as Data scientists.

    • @drippinwet774
      @drippinwet774 5 лет назад +1

      Your first step should be finding a "job", any job that
      that produces those type of reports daily.
      They use these reports as a strategic resource.
      Secondly, this "job"? You will work this job at entry-level.
      No, you won't be working as a data analyst. You need to realistically understand how this entry-level job ties into data analysis before applying your tech skills.
      Once you understand the needs of the job after proving ground as an operational decision-maker, then 100% you'll ride shotgun as an analyst internship/no internship.

    • @XShollaj
      @XShollaj 5 лет назад +2

      Already holding this certification, with 2 years of experience in data analysis. Honestly , for me it has not been that helpful despite having all the relevant skills. I would highly recommend having a personal website showcasing your portfolio with projects using all the tools mentioned here (I would also add the Microsoft stack SSRS, SSIS , SSAS). But the main thing is networking and fine-tuning your resume according to the job you will apply (most HR barely recognize what the skills mean and the job requirements are, so you need to pass the AI scanning your CV entry process). Good luck

    • @zorantill981

      R or python. R is more focused on data analysis, python can basically do the same thing as R, but it is slightly complicated to code because python is not designed only for statistics. So python has more potential, R is more focused on statistics. You can forget HTML, it is for web designers. SQL is a database language. You should learn it after you've already analyzed some sets of data

      Slightly differentiate with each other. Business analyst using tools which is getting data and reporting, visualising. Tools include Excel, Tableau or Power BI, SQL. BI analysts on the other hand, sometimes get data a little bit deeper (generally seniority level) with help of Hadoop , Python or R. But most of the time job offers mention them in the same field. Like this Busines Analyst/BI Analyst.

      Using any of the tools mentioned in the video well in a business environment likely requires connecting them to a database and using information obtained from the database and from other sources. If you don't have access to a SQL server, I recommend setting one up to practice with. There are plenty of free online data sources you can use to populate a reasonable number of interconnected tables. Practice using each tool to access and analyze data from the db. Use the tools for exploratory analysis, to better understand the data, then practice creating visualizations that quickly impart something important from the data to anyone who sees them. Show them to several people you know and ask them to tell you what they think the visualizations mean. Learn from the differences between what they interpret the visualizations to mean and what you intended them to convey. One skill that is hard to learn outside of a work environment is asking god questions to understand what information people need to make good data driven decisions. Practice listening more in your day to day conversations and asking good questions to encourage people to share more information. Be willing to take an entry level position at a good company in a field you know or are interested in, even if it is not as an analyst, and look for opportunities to demonstrate your skills and advance internally. Without a related degree, this is one of the best ways to break into the field. I hope some of this helps. I wish you the best of luck!

    • @benjamincarter6095
      @benjamincarter6095 5 лет назад +2

      @Anmol Dilip Datacamp and Coursera are pretty reasonable. I recommend starting with Datacamp due to their interactive learning style, and if you are dedicated to using it frequently it is worth paying for a month or two which is actually pretty inexpensive.
      If you have an inquisitive nature and analytical mind, figuring it out from there should be more fun than frustrating. You should have enough of an idea of what you are doing to set out problems you want to try to solve, then solve them. Either use public data sets or scrape some, which, like most things, you can figure out how to do pretty quickly by asking google or github. Good public data sources for learning relational databases:
      github.com/awesomedata/awesome-public-datasets
      If you want to build models, you may want to look into some additional stats classes and read whitepapers on whichever models you are considering.

    Just because you know how to use tools doesn't mean you can be a data scientist. This is ridiculous.

    Hi, that was really great, detailed and concise. Thanks
    I'm a university student, with some data science experience but I have a lot of drawbacks in the soft skill, especially writing and communication skill. Any advice on how to improve?

    Why is there such a huge difference in US and UK salaries ? Love your channel.

    • @sergiearruda443
      @sergiearruda443 5 лет назад +4

      This would more likely to be something that applies to all areas, not just this one, a matter related to the country. Healthcare for example, is free in the UK while it is quite expensive in the US, so it is natural that salaries do not need to be as high since some expenses in the UK do not exist.

    I was wondering when you guys talk about doing an internship in the financial industry, I am a bit confused about what kind of jobs you are talking about. Could you maybe elaborate on that?

      Maybe they meant a financial analysis to crate budget dashboards, reporting and etc. Most of the time they use Excel, Excel VBA, Power BI.
