I much prefer the open plastic flyer hooks. I would love to participate in a kickstarter but I may not be able to afford it. The design changes look good.
I am really excited to see your improvements. I would support a Kickstarter. I didn't update my original Nano's from the 1st Kickstarter so would also consider buying the updated CCA and motor. I also really like the open plastic guides. I had updated my Nano guides to some 3D printed ones. Thanks for your constant desire to improve your products. And also for wanting to offer your customers great prices!!
Kickstarter would be fabulous. I have the Nano 1.0 with plastic hooks and I much prefer those to the wire ones. As Kelly Wilcox-Baird suggested, you can leave off the power brick, it won't be useful here in Europe anyway, and would just be wasted. Perhaps have it as an optional add-on for people who would want one?
I'll consider leaving it off, but most of my sales are in the US and I don't want to have different versions. Maybe I'll leave it off though. Sounds like a good question to ask the community later.
This new Nano sounds great. The improvements sound like strong upgrades to current. I think I like the plastic guides, but wonder if they would abraded the fiber. A Kickstarter campaign sounds fine.
I love it! I live in the UK, would the kickstarter work here too? I would be uo for that. With the micro usb, I don't think I would need the brick. If you leave it off it would be cheaper to ship, and I could get a powerbank and usb cable everywhere. I do like the switch you offer on the shorter cable though! And I love the suction cup feet. Seems like a great solution to prevent the eew from sliding around.
Yes, the Kickstart would ship to the UK. Shipping probably won't be cheaper if I ship without a brick. The reason is if the weight is between 1 and 2 pounds the price is the same. If I can get it under 1 pound that would be very helpful for shipping costs, but I don't think I can get it that light. I will try when I have all the final parts though.
I have already upgraded my nano with all the new bits you are talking about so apart from a slightly better motor don’t need the upgrade as I also have the 6 .The one thing I do love about the nano is the ability to customise it by changing the colour of the flyer arms, something you will not be able to do with the new one
Thoughtful improvements! I think I would prefer the plastic yarn guides. If they did wear a little they would be easy to replace. I love kickstarters- I think they generate a lot of excitement in the community and it’s fun getting the updates.
Yep! Kickstarter this new edition! I have a bank 1.0 with upgraded motor and 3d printed flyer hooks. I love the power switch option and the usb interface. Perhaps if you were looking to save costs consider leaving off the brick, personally I have too many of those floating around. Maybe other people have a different opinion about that. Well done on the upgrades! Can't wait for launch. But if you offer it direct you can count me in too.
Take my money!!! I have a mini (that I still use) and a nano 1 and I will definitely do the kick starter for this one too. Will the bobbins from the Nano 1 be compatible? Mine don't unscrew since I glued them all :) I also second comments about not needing the brick since I have a drawer full of them.
Just saw this video today, not sure why I didn't see this announcement, but the new Nano improvements sound really good. I would be in favor of a Kickstarter, but am Okay if you decide not to have one. Love the new hooks and especially the knob for the tension band.
I have the Nano 1.1 definitely interested in thus New Nano 2. Would the Kick Starter be available in the UK ??? Also like the idea of the plastic hooks and the switch mechanism.
Sounds good, but I hope you would include the case for the battery. If you have the battery attached, you don't need suction cups, the weight makes it very stable. I would definitely be interested in the kickstarter, and the more compact power cord assembly, which makes it neater and even more portable.
I really can't do the battery case for the same price. That said you can buy those as 3d printed accessories and I'll make an updated version for this version of the Nano (though the previous battery case would work)
Is there anyway to get notified so I do not miss out on the Kickstarter, if you go that direction? I Have the nana1.1 and the eew 6. I mostly take the nano with me and have my eew 6 at home to ply. I love all the improvements with the nano 2, I am really interested. I spin a lot or alpaca along with other fibers and would us the 2 different Nanos for different fibers. really like the improvements and the new
The best way to be notified is to sign up for my monthly email newsletter at the bottom of www.dreamingrobots.com. I will give everyone there a heads up when a Kickstarter is starting.
Thanks Janice for going into specifics. I have, over the last week, been looking into spinning. 35 years of crochet and knitting and I finally want to spin my own yarn. So to have info on different yarns and also that the eew6 (with its big bobbin) is where you PLY, makes sense to me.
Please do a kickstarter!!! I would love to get the nano. Honestly, I would also love to get the 6 too. If you do decide to do a Kickstarter do you have an estimate as to what time frame? That way I can be on the look out for it.
Based on community feedback I will be doing a Kickstarter for the EEW Nano 2. I've run into some production delays with the EEW Nano 2, but I'm hoping to run the Kickstart for it in Feb and maybe start shipping them out in April, but this is still up in the air right now and I might delay it a month or two. That is just my best current guess.
I love the looks of all of the upgrades. I think the plastic hooks look fine, but do they need to be so large? I don't know why, but I feel like aesthetically they seem huge compared to the size of the machine itself and don't most people spin fine singles on the nano? I know I do. Also, with the upgraded motor is the Nano 2.0 going to be able to continue to spin such fine delicate singles? I've seen some people are spinning sewing thread--which is probably an extreme use case, but I really enjoy spinning a very fine single so I can do a 2 or 3-ply fingering-weight yarn.
There isn't really a downside of them being this size. Most people like them larger to help make it less likely bulky yarns don't get caught. Now the Nano still won't be as good at bulky yarns as something bigger like the EEW 6.0, but this version will be better at them than the EEW Nano 1.1 due to these larger hooks and the stronger motor. That said I'm still adjusting the final design of these hooks.
So, I’m just now learning about the Nano 2, and looking to buy my first Eel, did I miss the kickstarter? (I’ve never done Kickstart, don’t even know how. 🤷♀️)
I think the plastic clips look much easier to use, the wires frustrate me. I also am all for a Kickstarter, especially a shorter one. I love your spinners, you are an extremely talented man, and I wanna say thanks.
I agree that the power brick is not necessary to be included. Many already have one and would not need it and that would make the price less expensive. Love the kickstarter idea or maybe offer an introductory special sale price. I do not care for the plastic hooks, maybe make the wire ones bigger around ?
Kickstarter is a way I handle preorders and provide lots of updates to the community about a product pre-launch. If I do this I generally open up a Kickstarter for 30 days and people have that time to pre-order my product at a reduced price. The best way to be notified of these is to sign up for my monthly email newsletter at the bottom of www.dreamingrobots.com
Are all the parts going to be interchangeable with the 1.1? I would be interested in the flier as mine is uneven even after messing with it and I am sure it would be much more quiet.
I'm planning to offer upgrades for the motor and circuit board. I probably won't offer upgrades for every different part as it just gets too complicated from a logistics and support standpoint. I will consider other options though if there is enough support.
Probably not. I like to make unique things and there are tons of bag options. There are padded soft coolers that are cheaper than I could ever make similar bags and there are expensive really nice bags. If I did do everything it would be a really low cost bag with my logo, but it wouldn't be designed specifically for caring the EEWs.
@@DreamingRobotsBlog Excellent tip on using a cooler (I imagine a cooler for a 6pack beer/beverage tin would be the ideal size. The pound/dollar store have them. (I use them for grocery shopping). So yes, I agree, not necessary to add. But the tip (your little cards included are such a good idea) included in the box would allow people to see that a carry bag is easy to buy and use. Love ALL the improvements! I will be the 1st one on Kickstarter to support the Nano 2, while I wait for the EEW 6...
Cannot wait for the kickstarter on this! Hope to see it going up soon!
Looks great to me. Interested with kickstarter or without.
Looks really good and a Kickstarter would tempt me. And if it will run off the power bank I have for my phone then I don’t need an extra one.
Kickstarter yes please! Having both the Nano 1.0 plus the EEW 6.0, id absolutely be buying the Nano 2.0 for the benefit of the upgrades.
I love the kickstarters!
With or without a Kickstarter I will definitely purchase another nano. Super excited about the upgrades!
I love the plastic hooks! They will be easier for my hands. I love this! Take my money! I will back a kickstarter!
Thanks for the feedback!
Love it! Would love the Kickstarter

Please Kickstart this! It sounds like all the improvements that we original Nano Kickers wished for, have been included in this design. Thank you!
Love the plastic hooks! I'd be happy to buy this with or without a Kickstarter
Definitely love the plastic hooks
Thanks for the feedback

I still need to to more testing, but I'm pretty confident the Nano 1.x bobbins will work with the EEW Nano 2.

I can't make the wire hooks bigger or they get too floppy. The EEW 6.0 has a nice solution, but it is too expensive for the EEW Nano.
i second that the power brick isn't necessary, even the wall charger should be optional (i can't use it in australia :P )
Hi. Is that. USB-C connection? Can't tell from video. Thanks.
It is a micro USB plug. I looked into using USB C and there were still too many issues for me to use it at this point.
