Seen this at the BMW dealership around the corner from me. Absolutely stunning car. The previous gen was not a bad car by any means (infact, im looking at getting a low milage 2nd hand one myself) but BMW significantly raised the bar with this new X1. It blows the competition out the water.
Does it edge the GLA ? My preference was leaning more with the GLA but after this review I am thinking otherwise. A review of the GLA would be much appreciated. There is barely any reviews on the GLA

Guys I really enjoy your reviews, however I feel like you guys skip certain sections. Not sure why, but I have realized this in some of your videos lately. This one in particular, I'm guessing the X1 doesn't come with a boot? In some other videos we just skip past the backseats, etc... The video literally started with: "If you are here to learn everything about the new X1, then you have come to the right place", well last I checked, a boot is part of the new X1.
Dynamic air sounds it should auto sense conditions in the environment and attempt to get the temp/ conditions in-cabin to comply with some sort of pre-set preference such as "maintain 24 degrees C"
@@danielbredenkamp3957 well I came from a bmw, drove the Chery tiggo 4 and 7, yes the Cherys are better in terms of tech, an I think even feel, and interior layout design, but the drive is way better on the X55.. we are talking about a really cheap car, here relatively speaking.

AND...NO the interior of the BAIC feels really cheap and not well made. I drove it myself and really, you get what you pay for. In that price bracket I'd rather take the new Urban Cruiser. BAIC or any chinese manufacturer is not even remotely a BMW competitor.

Good review, thanks Ciro. Just one thing...cheap and Chinese can not be put in the same place as a BMW...The look and feel is telling you straight that it's German. So unlike the cheap Chinese cars which really doesn't feel like this...albeit the people buying cheap and chinese just love comparing it to something upmarket and classy like this
I have the f48 2.0d with proper 140kw... it's a rocket. Same chassis as latest model. But must say the interior is a giant leap forward... can't imagine paying 800k though. I'd rather get a second hand x3 demo or 2.0d msport with 60k on the clock .... great review nonetheless.
I like that comment about auto journos, its quite true. In the UK and India especially, if a car cant do 0-60mph in less than 5 seconds is garbage. Doesnt matter if its a family hatchback or a Type R, it must be a beast! However alot of people dont know the fine print that alot of them are former racecar drivers and they take their perspective as gospel truth.
I agree. These auto journos have destroyed cars for me and most people who aren't aware. Now we have Volvos with stiff suspensions that can handle themselves on track, nobody buys a X90 or Hilux because it can attack an apex. Now it's less comfortable and the steering offers more deedback than we need on our roadtrip mom's school run

Consider this.. the BAIC X55 looks better, has 300 torque, 130kw, genuine leather interior, drives great, and it costs over 300k less. Sure the BMW may have some cool trinkets over it, but nothing near 300k worth.

I think I can count on one hand the number of potholes I've seen since I moved here in 2007. The state of JHB roads is a testimony to how disrespectful the city is to it's citizens, we all pay our taxes yet the infrastructure is left to rot. The city of Ekhuruleni is particularly bad, where our office is. There is a pothole the size of a jacuzzi that he been near Bruma for about a year, I hit it in the night and I cannot believe I didn't destroy the rental I was in. It just makes me sad
Honestly no BMW is worth your hard earned money. Lease it for 2yrs & take it back before you loose a small fortune when it begins to fall apart in 5yrs.
Bought a 118i pre-owned, for R239k, 4 years later, sold it to we buy cars, got 200k. My Yaris I bought brand new for 183k, after 6 years, and 60k mileage, they gave me 100k.
Had 4 BMWs none of them gave a days problems. All of them driven over 100k km. Had an X4 for 3 years sold it for 30k less than i bought it for. Traded to an X5, on 100k km now not a single problem Will probably trade it on another BMW in the future Buy from reputable dealers, check service history and maintain it on schedule, and its as reliable as any brand out there.

And that BADGE is not worth R650,000 in average after optional extras were ticked... 😮 Things changed A LOT 😉🤣
The difference is. 1. Fuel consumption- chinese motors not nearly as efficient as BMW motors. 20d offerings can do 4.7l/100km while the H6 averages 8.5l/100km on highways. 2. Parts. Had a friends wife break down with a 6month old H6, had to wait 4 weeks for replacement parts. Had a coworker who got in an accident with a small Haval, same story no parts and had to be placed on a waiting list for Radiators ect. BMW have plants in SA so parts are available all over. 3. Resale value German Marques have much better resale value as the demand is higher…as you say, people still willing to pay for the badge. 4. Service and aftersales. Try breaking down in colesburg/Kathu with a Haval and see how long it takes them to get there if at all…BMW has a much wider dealer network so in case of emergency or service requirements its much more convenient as branches and support are nationwide. Pros and cons to both, don’t just look at Retail price.

Moreover, everyone with a functional brain can easily see how seriously the Chinese have taken their motoring industry of late. It can only get better with time, ad the indications provide. 🤗😎🙂

However Jump over from the BMW, or any established german brand for that matter to the chinese offerings and you immediately feel why the premium is asked. Its just a superior product. Like Ciro said, you can just tell its been made by people who have been making cars for over a 100 years. As an owner of a few BMW models myself i may be biased, however i did try the chinese market about a year ago and found myself back in another BMW.
I will never buy Audi go for VW more value for money the Company group also own Audi , Porsche etc more back up and better service I had bad service with Audi!!!😔

The previous gen X1 is very good indeed. The 20d engine is amazing. Try to get the X drive. S drive wheel spin is an issue

The 2.0d BMW motor is just a masterpiece. Enough power to keep you entertained and still economical enough to make cape town on a tank.
