I don't usually comment, but I have been watching a while, and you come across as such a genuine bloke, and lovely to watch. I love your content and will continue watching.
Thank you John, I appreciate the kind words. I try my best to make a relaxing watch and hope that it turns out ok. Hopefully plenty more to come with a bit of luck. Cheers for watching 👍👍
Hi Gareth another great video, thanks. I agree, fish or blank it doesn’t matter it’s getting out in the fresh air, rain or shine, it gives me chance to unwind, recharge and reflect, thanks mate (Shaun) 😊
Thanks Shaun. Yes that's it, just nice getting out isn't it, nothing better than spending a few hours next to the water, pure therapy and the fish are a bonus. Cheers 👍
Nice one Gareth and no angler would be disappointed in catching that conger, always a pleasure watching your videos and sessions where you find the right balance. Tight lines
Thank you Robert. Yes I think you're right there, I just sometimes get a little paranoid as that's all I'm catching at the moment ha! This was a nice little session after work, nice few hours out. Cheers as always, take care 👍👍
Easily one of the best fishing channels on RUclips … just behind the casters boys lol. Honestly would hate it if you stopped filming. Don’t go changing ❤️❤️
Haha thanks Morgan. Ah yes, the Caster boys will take some beating...I put it down to Josh's superior knowledge of pork pies! Hopefully plenty more to come, cheers for the continued support 👍👍
Thanks Wayne, hope all is well. A quick session after work but an enjoyable few hours out, the Congers saved the day once again ha! Cheers as always, take care 👍👍
Thanks Andy, I'm pleased to hear that. Bit tricky to film this one as the light was changeable but thankfully I got the video done. Enjoy the weekend 👍👍
Hi Gareth great relaxing video great scenery lovely fish it's very hard what you do fishing & videoing I find it hard enough just fishing would be very upset if you were to stop making these great videos always look forward to you posting your videos please keep up the fantastic videos you make all the best
Thank you Michael, much appreciated. Yes it's hard work, I'm usually physically and mentally exhausted when I get home after filming, although it's a nice feeling knowing that the video has been made. I won't be stopping anytime soon, hopefully plenty more to come. This was a nice little session, the Congers saved me once again ha! Hope all is good with you, cheers 👍👍
Thank you Kev, it was an enjoyable little session. Yes Brixham should be interesting, like an aquarium down there, usually get a good variety of species. Cheers for watching 👍👍
Thank you mate, it was nice to go fishing straight from work, I enjoy doing that. The Congers provided the entertainment for the day ha! Cheers as always 👍👍
No need to worry about the content of your videos as they are a pleasure to watch. Personally, I catch so few congers in Kent and would be grateful if they always unhooked themselves. The good thing is that we saw each of the last two fish
Thank you Robert, that's good to hear, pleased that you enjoy the videos. There are a lot of Congers up this way at the moment, they feed on the small shore shore crabs and shrimp that live on the mud. They've certainly been keeping me busy of late. Hopefully a few Cod will show up soon, they can't be too far away now. Cheers for watching, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
Ah yes, you can't beat blackberry and apple crumble! I agree Richard, just nice brintg out there isn't it, spending a few hours next to the water. Thank you for watching 👍👍
Ha yes, those rocks don't get any easier, especially now that my knees are creaking a little! Me too, I quite like the humble Conger, they've always been a part of my fishing up this way. Hope all is good with you bud, enjoy the weekend and thank you for watching 👍👍
Thank you Nathan, that's nice of you to say. I don't think my channel is the best, there are much better ones than me, I don't catch enough fish and the marks I fish are not that popular anymore, although they are special to me and so I keep going back and try my best. I hope all is good with you mate, have a decent week 👍👍
Thank you Gary, much appreciated. It was a little gloomy and dark at times and getting nice footage was a little tricky. A nice session though, nice to be out. Cheers and take care 👍👍
You're welcome Kevin, glad you enjoyed it. The wind was a little strong at times but it was nice to go fishing straight from work. Thank you for watching 👍👍
Thank you Graham, appreciated as always. Yes Brixham should be good, the fishing is usually very productive and hopefully it will be the same this time. Cheers for watching, take it easy 👍👍
Thank you Steve, I appreciate your continued support. Nasty bit of weather but hopefully it will improve by the weekend. Hope all is well, cheers for watching 👍👍
Thank you Paul, appreciated as always. Yes I don't mind catching Congers, they've always been a part of my fishing and they often save the blank ha! Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Thank you Wayne, appreciated as always. Yes it would be good to show that, although I need to sort out the lighting in the garage as it would be a little dark. Cheers for watching, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
Another cracking video Gareth. Well in there with the conger. They Always save the day. Great editing again as always and beautiful scenery. Cheers mate 👍
Thank you Neil. Ha yes they are rescuing me at the moment, they've saved many a recent blank! I was meant to fish the Gower Thursday but the weather was far too stormy and so I stayed local again. Hope all is good with you mate, take it easy 👍👍
Thank you mate. The wind made this one a little tricky to film and when my tripod snapped I thought it was all over but I managed to scrape through ha! Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Thank you Leighton. I fancied my chances of an early Codling but the Congers stole the show once again ha, all good fun though. Cheers as always, have a nice weekend 👍👍
Thank you Ray, I appreciate it. I wasn't sure if I would be able to continue filming when the camera tripod snapped but thankfully I just about made the video! Cheers for watching, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
Thank you Gavin, I appreciate that. Yes you're right, I guess there's not much we can do if the fish are not there. Thankfully the Congers are saving me at the moment ha, there's a few about. Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Great video Gareth, looked a nice afternoon to be out, nice conger as well. No blanks on this channel eh pal 😊 The light at the end of the video was stunning, great watch, thanks for sharing it with us all 👍
Thank you Nigel. It was nice to finish work early and go fishing, I wish I could do that more often ha! The Congers saved me once again, loads about at the moment, some good ones too! You've come a long way since having the stroke...very well done indeed! Cheers for watching, take it easy 👍👍
Thank you Gary, I appreciate it. A windy afternoon but enjoyable all the same. Will be interesting to see what this Autumn brings. Cheers for watching 👍👍
Thank you Stephen, I'm pleased to hear that your customers enjoy the videos, hopefully plenty more to come. Hope all is good with you, cheers as always 👍👍
Thank you Patricia. I enjoy going fishing straight from work, I can't really explain why. Yes Brixham should be good, usually get a nice variety of species down there. Hope all is well, take care 👍👍
Thank you Pete, much appreciated. I'll be there the week before, hopefully the weather will behave ha! Will be nice to have a little break, it's been a while. Cheers for watching, take it easy 👍👍
I'm good thanks Stephen, hope you are too. Yeah nice little session after work, always a good way of unwinding. The congers provided the entertainment for the day as per usual ha! Cheers as always, take care 👍👍
Lovely upload again Gareth. Your editing is so good buddy, makes me jealous, some awesome footage as always, and a nice conger as well. Fish or no fish mate, it really doesn't matter. Just really enjoy the watch, as I'm sure everyone does. Thanks again for everything you do mate. All the best👍👍🎣🎣
Thanks Dylan, appreciated as always. Yes it was a nice little session straight from work, a good way to unwind. The Congers provided the entertainment as per usual ha, they usually save the day up this way. Definitely, just nice being out ain't it, that's what it's all about for me nowadays. My new camera tripod has now arrived and I've sprayed it with clear lacquer to provide some protection from the salt. Hope all is well bud, will be watching your latest upload this evening, possibly with a beer! Have a good weekend 👍👍
Thank you Keith. Yes I always try to capture the full experience and the scenery and surroundings is a big part of that. Cheers as always, take care 👍👍
Another good video Gareth. Good old congers save the blank. I thought that last one was going to be a ray the way it just pulled down slowly. Beautiful sunset on the outro👍
Thank you Andy. Yes me too, I was sure it was a Ray but when I struck into it I could tell it was a Conger as it was twisting and bouncing. A windy session but it did calm down as evening approached and the sunset was a great site. Hope all is good with you, cheers as always 👍👍
nice watch again,i was out on my local river this afternoon and had a small salmon for my efforts,i fished a local sea mark last saturday and there was a huge shoal of mackerel there some were a bit small, but not seen that in years
Thanks Craig. Well done on getting the Salmon, always good to see. I sometimes spot them in the river behind me but usually during mid-autumn. I love fishing for Mackerel, those big shoals do seem to be less common nowadays, hopefully they can withstand the pressure of commercial fishing. Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Hi,congrats on beating the blank and another great video,I meant to tell you that my son and i went to goldcliff about a month after asking you where to park,I blanked but my son caught his first ray(thorny)of about 11 or 12 lbs so that made my day seeing that,so thanks again for the info,Tris.
Thank you Tris, appreciated as always. It was a nice few hours out of the house and the Congers saved the day. Pleased to hear that your son caught his first Ray down at Goldcliff, that's great! It can fish well on its day, hopefully it will produce a few Cod this Autumn and Winter, that would be nice. Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Pleased to hear that you're back on your feet Gareth, well done. I almost fished the Knap yesterday but decided to stay more local instead and fished up at the Pink House. Hoping to hit the Gower on the next set of big tides, Pwll Du or Caswell. Cheers as always, take care 👍👍
Hey buddy, yeah my daughter uses your juice recipes, Nice Conger there buddy, watch yourself on them rocks 🤣 cracking vid as always brother, stay safe see you on the rocks 👍👍
Ah yes, I think I remember you telling me that, glad she finds them useful. If it wasn't for my camera tripod I think it would have been a nasty fall but it certainly softened the blow, I'm ordering a new one today ha! Nice little session though, quick few hours after work. The Cod should be arriving down there very soon. Thank you Matt, hope you manage to wet a line soon...see you on the beach 👍👍
Top video as always mate, always makes my Friday evening more enjoyable when i see youve uploaded. Lovely conger there, never fished goldcliff ill have to give it a bash. Fished the knap last Saturday, big 14.5 tide but not a bite in 7 hours between 4 of us!!! Shocking! Back out next Saturday now. Hope you’re well mate, look forward to the next one as always 🎣🎣
Thank you Scott, that's nice of you to say. Yeah Goldcliff is a nice mark to fish and it can fish well on its day, just gotta watch the rip on the bigger tides, I only fish it on the smaller tides. A few Cod will hopefully show up there during the next few weeks. Unlucky on the Knap blank, sounded like a very hard session...I'm sure you'll catch a couple next time! I'm good thanks mate, hope you are too. Cheers, take it easy 👍👍
Nice one Gareth, the old congers are helping you out, but a fish is a fish beats the blank. Fishing down my way is hard work at the moment, so much flood water. Well look after yourself and have a good weekend. All the best from south west Wales. 👍
Thanks bud. Yes they certainly are, they've saved many a blank of late ha! I was hoping to fish the Gower this week but the weather has been too rough, I'll hopefully be down there on the next set of big tides. I'm sure the fishing wil pick up down your way very soon. Cheers as always, take care 👍👍
Thanks Paul, it was a nice few hours out in fairness, I like going fishing straight from work. Yes I guess there's different things I can do, although I won't be changing things too much. Cheers as always, take it easy 👍👍
Thank you Jeff. There are lots of decent Congers around at the moment, especially at the upper Channel marks that I fish. October/November should produce some very large ones, usually happens. I'm hoping to hit the Gower very shortly, wanted to go this week but the weather has been too bad. Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Thank you mate. Yes there's something nice about going fishing straight after work, I can't really explain it. The first of the Cod shoals will be starting to arrive now and I'd love to get a couple ha! I've had some lovely Cod from this very spot in the past and so you you never know. Cheers as always, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
Haha yes, I was very surprised that it didn't produce the goods, what's going on!! Thanks mate, it was a nice little session, decent bit of fresh air. Cheers for watching, take it easy 👍👍
Top video as usual Gareth, nice to see a local mark even though I haven’t fished it in a few years. Well done on the Conger, it can be a bit tricky scrambling down those rocks to land a fish especially when it’s wet. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to your video when you head down south.
Thank you Richie. Yes it was a nice little session after work and as per usual, the Congers kept me busy ha! I've had some cracking Cod from this very spot and so hopefully they are not too far away now, the first of the shoals should be arriving. Yes you're right, those rocks can get very slippery, I had a lucky escape when filming this one, thought it was going to be a nasty fall but the camera tripod kinda softened the blow. Hope all is good with you, thank you for the continued support 👍👍
Ha yes, I guessed you were referring to the Conger and not me 😂. A nice little session, I always enjoy going fishing straight from work, good way to unwind. Ok I'll take a look at the email Rob. Cheers as always 👍👍
Thanks bud, it was nice to be out wetting a line. I'm ok thanks, been a bit busy of late but aren't we all. Hope all is good with you, cheers for watching 👍👍
Haha thanks Mike. I've never caught so many Congers, they're definitely following me around this year! I was watching an old 'Tight Lines' video the other day and I'm sure it was you on a boat with Keith Arthur, fishing for Blue Sharks! Cheers as always, take care 👍👍
@@riversidewithme Yes it probably was me 😀 have fished with Keith and Dave Lewis a few times off Milford for sharks on several Sky Sports filming days .
Great video Gareth, I know I have said it before but you have a talent with the camera and the way you manage to include scenery, flora and fauna which really makes it for me. Looking forward to Brixham.
Thank you Gordon, that's nice of you to say, I appreciate it. The light was a little gloomy at times during this session and it was a bit tricky to film. Yes me too, Brixham should be interesting, usually get a nice variety of species down there. I'm also hoping to hit the Gower shortly, it's been way too long! Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Another nice video Gareth, did watch your last one but have been pretty busy the last week or so, lots of things going on in my head so didn't get a chance to comment but nice to sit down relax and enjoy another lovely video by you , hope you have a good weekend and hope Wales win against Australia , take care cheers now.
Thank you Phil. No problem, life can get in the way at times, seems to get busier and busier! I try to go fishing once a week but I'm not managing that at the moment, hopefully I'll sort it. Yes that should be an interesting game, difficult one to call. I also need to make some new rigs up this weekend, running a bit low. You too, have a good one, enjoy! 👍👍
Nice job Gareth, love those off the cuff sessions escaping work.. decent conga as well. Unlucky on the one you lost but that’s how it goes.. Look forward to the brixham vid, should get some good fish! I’ve just come back from chesil and had a nice mixed bag of fish which was nice. See you on the the next one mate, have a good week ahead 👍
Thank you Matt. Yes me too, straight from work and down onto the mark, can't beat it and sometimes those sessions can produce a nice surprise or two. Sounds like you had a good time down at Chesil, well done. Always nice to get a variety of species, makes it more enjoyable. That's what I love about Brixham, you never know what's going to to be on the of the line, it's like an aquarium at times. You too mate, have a good one 👍👍
Come on Jesse, you told me that this week you'll mostly be eating raspberries, please make your mind up! Ah good stuff, it's always the natural approach for me! Cheers bud, always appreciated 👍👍
@riversidewithme 🤣 Yep, 100% natural for me too! I prevent and cure everything with healthy food and fasting! Have done it for years! No dodgy pharmaceutical vibes for me!💪
@@The13thDukeofWybourneExcellent, same here bud. Nature always has the answer. I tried getting Dad to go down the natural route when he got ill but sadly it wasn't for him, hence why he's no longer here...the plethora of drugs destroyed him.
Another great video Gareth, me and my partner love relaxing & watching your videos after a busy week. Thank you 😊 P.S my other half said he would love to have a fishing session with you lol x
Thank you Tash, pleased to hear that you and your partner enjoy the videos, good stuff. But tricky to film after my camera tripod snapped but I just about managed to make the video. I'm sure that can be arranged, I hopefully won't be a jinx ha! Cheers for watching, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
What's this? Goldcliffe, Redwick, & I never thought I'd be watching a vid of fishing whilst squelching around in the mud up at Black Rock. Thank you for having us all along with you Gareth, you've just taken me on a massive trip down memory lane. I've seen that very Sunset so many times from Redwick. Beautiful. Do Pouting show up these days? In the late 70's we had a couple of years when we'd pull them in two at a time at Redwick & then they just disappeared as quickly as they'd appeared.
Hi Wayne, thank you for the comment. Ah yes, you can't beat a bit of Severn Estuary mud squelching can you! I never tire of seeing those sunrises/sunsets down at Goldcliff and Redwick, always a great site. I also remember catching the hundreds of Pouting and Whiting down there but sadly nowadays, they are few and far between and that saddens me. As you say, it was two a cast without fail, they certainly kept the rod tips busy...good times. Cheers for watching, much appreciated 👍👍
Thanks for the video Gareth, good to see you making the most of the last of the milder and sunny weather and well done for escaping for half a day! Always a pleasant surprise at a weekend to see that you’ve been out and about again. Could be a long winter! Good conger too. If I can work out how to do the money thing, it can go towards a new tripod 😮😂 Take care
Thank you very much for the donation Andy, I appreciate it. I'm actually going to buy the new tripod this weekend and so it will certainly be going towards it! Yes hopefully we'll have another few weeks of decent weather, as you say it could be a long few months ha! Much easier to film when there's more daylight and so I suspect some of my upcoming videos will be in the dark. I want to hit the Gower soon, I'll wait until the next set of bigger tides. Hope all is good with you, have a great weekend! 👍👍
Im New to your channel Gareth love your work 👍 havent long got back from the ranny and fyers myself . Only a solitary rockling 😢😂 to show . Hopefully will catch up with you one day on the bank. Take care there boss keep up the great work 👍 respect from the Rhondda 👍💪
Thank you Lee, I appreciate it, hopefully more videos to come. Nice that you got a couple of sessions in down at the Ranny and Friars, good stuff. Lovely fish is the Rockling, beautiful colours. Hopefully the Ranny will produce some nice Cod this season, that would be nice. Cheers for watching, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
Thank you mate, I appreciate the kind words. Sounds like a nice Bream that, well done. I do like a bit of Autumn Bream fishing, very enjoyable. Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Top man.. im in the same boat.. liven deep in the vallys and reliant on public travel.. i can mostly fish only barry, penarth or porthcawl.. rarly get to go further unless reelminds and freinds can lift me.. like down the gower at llemgnith for the first time.. hunting for golden grey mullet.. came so lose too.. but others got lucky.. hope soon to be part of the lougder flounder comp on the 8th.. i hope to see more estery vids from you as the flounder return heavier as the season turns cold.. and dont worry about the congers.. i get them too.. mostly straps or that one so big it broke my reel and got away.. 😂 they taste yummy too.. but thats just my taste.. love eels such majestic primal creatures.. never to be underestimated.. ❤
Yes it can be frustrating when time gets in the way and I can't go as far as I'd like to, or in your own case transport issues. Hopping to hit the Gower before I go to Brixham mid October, got some days to take off work. Yes I like catching Congers, they've always been a part of my fishing and they often come to the rescue when nothing else is feeding. The bigger Flounder should be moving closer to shore now and up into the tidal rivers. Hopefully we'll see nice Whiting and Cod too, that would be good. Autumn and early Winter is my favourite time of the year to go fishing. Cheers as always, take care 👍👍
Thank you Lee, I appreciate it. So you park right next to the Seawall Tearooms at Goldcliff, postcode is NP18 2PH. Plenty of parking available on the road. Then you walk up the steps in front of you and just pick your spot. I wouldn't fish this mark on the big tides as the rip can be too strong. In this video, I am on the point to the left which is a 10/15 minute walk from where you park, best fished on the smaller tides. The bay as we call it, next to where you park, is fine for the medium size tides. Cheers 👍👍
Another cracking video Gareth....as always!! Busy time up here in Hereford, prepping for Winter & next year & having a cheeky half hour catch up with the 'conger king', is just what the Dr. ordered!! Well done on beating the blank & unlucky with the lump that slipped off.....Aaaaarrrrgggghhhh!!! Brought back memories of my Grandad when you said about picking the blackberries.....he'd have me picking pounds of them for my Gran to make piss & jam....happy, simpler days, now sadly gone.... Do you do any other type of fishing....I only ask because a few of your videos show the reens at Peterstone & St. Brides....and my Grandad would always take me for an hour, if the tides were wrong or the weather too bad.....we always had some stunning roach outta them!! Anyways buddy, enough rambling & back to work....have a great week & look forward to the next episode... All the best....Jon.
Thank you Jon, appreciated as always. Yes I can imagine you are busy now, it's that time of the year isn't it, lots of prep work. It was a nice little session after work and as per usual, the Congers provided the entertainment ha! Glad the Blackberry talk brought back some nice memories for you. There's something special about picking wild fruit and making pies, jam etc. I also add them to smoothies and juices and of course, especially now as the colder months are approaching. Yes I do all types of fishing, Coarse, Game and Sea but these days I tend to mostly sea fish. Ah yes those reens are full of fish, I always hear them splashing on the surface and so I'm not surprised to hear that you had some nice Roach, such a beautiful fish. Hope all is good with you, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
Fantastic video as always, Gareth. I am also in to Berries. One of the best ones are sea-buckthorne berries. Have you worked with them? If not, I made a video on them, let me know if you want the link. Tight Lines till next time.
Thank you mate, appreciated as always. Ah yes I love using the sea-buckthorne berries, they can be excellent. I remember watching your video on them when you first made it, very good indeed, well done. Cheers for watching, take it easy 👍👍
Thank you Andrew. Haha yes the smaller Whiting have moved in now. Be nice if the big ones turn up in late October like they used to. I'm hoping to be fishing down Porthcawl soon, not fished it much this year. Cheers 👍👍
Yes definitely, the whiting were everywhere at the bottom of wall by the harbour gates, every cast rod’s knocking, some nice places to fish round porthcawl, it’s been doing rather well over rest bay last few times off the rocks, some lovely rays, few schoolies, the odd keepers but the were safely returned.
@@riversidewithme tides are huge atm. Just had a shocking session, battling trees, bushes, grass floating round my swim all session causing me to miss bites. Nightmare session.
@@mtadave6702 Yes the Usk is always hard work on bigger tides, I tend to fish it on the smaller ones, less debris etc. Hopefully you'll have a better session next time
Thank you Darren, much appreciated. Yes definitely, I'm already looking for one, will be much easier then, those rocks don't get any easier ha! Cheers for watching 👍👍
Hiya Gareth another good pleasant video. Just wandered how you keep your ragworm for so long? Mine only last 2 to 3 days in the fridge. I've even tried compost newspaper etc .
Thank you John, much appreciated. I tend to find that farmed ragworm last longer and in fairness, the local ragworm farm produce excellent quality worm and they last a long time, they are hardy. So I just change the newspaper every 2/3 days and then on the 3rd change I will add more moist sea peat and wet the paper in seawater. If the worm are wild then I tend to keep in a shallow tray of seawater although I can't keep the wild ones for so long, maybe 5/6 days. I make sure the fridge isn't too cold, they don't seem to like that. Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
I had never heard the term "neap tide" before hearing you use it a couple of times It turns out that a neap tide is equivalent to what we refer to in South Australia and a "dodge tide". States to the east use the term "neap tide" so I don't know how that came about. Nice Conger was worth the trip out after work. It sounds like your meteorological people are as useless as ours at the moment. The just don't be able to get their predictions correct. Hope all is well in your part of the world. Have a good weekend!!
Well there we are then David, I guess you learn something new every day! I often find the smaller neap tides produce more fish, whereas the assumption is that the bigger tides produce the best fish, although I suppose every mark is different. Yes the weather forecast these days is less accurate than it was 20 years ago, I can't get my head around that. I'm good thanks, although I'm glad it's the weekend, rest needed (but need to cut the grass and replace some slates on my roof) I'm hoping to hit the Gower soon, Pwll Du or Caswell. You too, enjoy and take care 👍👍
Once again a fab video Gareth, there's something about a cheeky afternoon session when you should be in work, you feel like a naughty schoolboy banking off school lol.Keep up the good work Gareth much apprecieted, what is the name of your juicing channel? If love to hear a look.
Yes that's it Michael, there's something special about fishing straight after work, a nice kinda feeling. A nice little session and the Congers kept me busy once again, they do seem to be following me around at the moment ha! The juicing videos are on this channel, same one. Hope all is good with you, thank you as always and enjoy the weekend 👍👍
Least you got a decent eel on camera mate should have a decent video to put on the channel for your trip to brixham did well there the last time you were down that way on the way back stop at Brean down and I’ll meet you there haha bet you enjoyed the rugby last night mate looking forward to the next one kev
Thank you Kev, it was a nice little session after work and the Congers provided a bit of action as per usual. Yes I'm looking forward to Brixham, will make a nice change to fish for different species, it's usually very good in fairness. Ah yes I like the Brean area, used to go there on holiday when I was a kid and I can remember catching a Bass close in. I also like Brean beach, been a number of years since I last fished it. Hope all is well, take care 👍👍
Thanks Ian, they kept me busy as per usual ha! It depends which Newport mark you fish. For St Brides you want a big tide of say between 11.3 and 12.6. For Goldcliff in the main bay you want a medium tide between 10.5m and 11.3m but for where I am this video (point to the left) you need a small tide as current is too strong on big ones. For the peat ledges at Farmfields, Magor and Redwick you want the smallest of tides but best fish these areas with someone else. Cheers 👍👍
I would use a 50lb rig body with a 40lb hook length, this will be fine for standard flapper/paternoster rigs. If using a heavier rig such as a pulley pennel rig for bigger baits, I would use a 60lb rig body and a 50lb hook length. Thanks for watching 👍
Cracking video as usual mate shame about the breakages, hope you're camera is still OK,some good fishing to .by the way what rods are you using. Take care Gareth keep up the good work, all the best 👍
Thank you Christopher, appreciated as always. Yes the camera is fine thanks and I ordered a new camera tripod yesterday, should arrive soon. The one rod is an Abu Garcia Conolon which is now 24 years old and the other is one that I built myself. They're nothing special but fine for me. Hope all is good with you, take care 👍👍
@@riversidewithme hopefully these southerly gales will push some cod up the Usk to. Been catching some nice big congers and bass between transporter and city bridge recently to.
@@riversidewithme I caught a bass out the Usk today, missed a nice one last weekend and had some decent eels out of there to recently. It's fishing all the way up to monkey Island still. And I wasn't the only one catching today.
@mtadave6702 Good stuff, can't fault it. Hopefully plenty more to come. Years ago from October onwards, the Whiting fishing on the Usk was amazing, sadly all gone now.
Not where I was as the mud is too soft. Although you can do much further down where you park, mixed harder ground and you can fish from low water up. Cheers 👍👍
Ha yes, they certainly do Kevin, lots of Congers in and around the mud at the moment, they've been keeping me busy! Hope all is good with you, appreciate the comment as always! 👍👍
@@riversidewithme I haven't had much chance to get out with the rods of late but I can see a session this Sunday being on the cards , fresh air in the lungs and mud on the boots , there's no better therapy mate 👌
nice one gar thanks mate
You're welcome David. It was a nice few hours out, couldn't fault it really. Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍

Ha ha lol nice one Morgan lol
@@riversidewithme I’m sure a collab is defo on the cards if your struggling filming by your self. Some extra hands will do the trick lovely
@morgandavies8007 Ha yes, it is a struggle on my own, hence why I sometimes lose fish! Those slippery rocks don't get any easier!
@@riversidewithme walking up the rocks on gold cliff is not easy at all ! 😬
Always enjoy a new RWM video, just sit back and enjoy. Always appreciated!
Thanks Wayne, hope all is well. A quick session after work but an enjoyable few hours out, the Congers saved the day once again ha! Cheers as always, take care 👍👍
After a busy week no better way to calm down thanks gareth
Thanks Andy, I'm pleased to hear that. Bit tricky to film this one as the light was changeable but thankfully I got the video done. Enjoy the weekend 👍👍
Ty gareth love the content keep going guy ,mark Cardiff
Thank you Mark, I appreciate the continued support. Hopefully plenty more to come. Cheers for watching, have a good weekend 👍👍
Well done Gareth as always brilliant looking forward to the next one especially Brixham great place👍
Thank you Kev, it was an enjoyable little session. Yes Brixham should be interesting, like an aquarium down there, usually get a good variety of species. Cheers for watching 👍👍
Another enjoyable video and a good little session with some lovely congers 👌
As soon as I saw the blackberries (blackberry and apple crumble) great video Gareth, fish 🐟 or blank it’s all about enjoying it 👍.
Ah yes, you can't beat blackberry and apple crumble! I agree Richard, just nice brintg out there isn't it, spending a few hours next to the water. Thank you for watching 👍👍
I’d happily catch eels like that all day, great fun, nice to see you’ve taken up a bit of rock climbing too🙂Well done buddy 😎👍
Ha yes, those rocks don't get any easier, especially now that my knees are creaking a little! Me too, I quite like the humble Conger, they've always been a part of my fishing up this way. Hope all is good with you bud, enjoy the weekend and thank you for watching 👍👍
Well done Gareth mate and like mentioned..you have the best fishing channel on RUclips..thoroughly enjoy all your videos mate keep up the great work
Thank you Nathan, that's nice of you to say. I don't think my channel is the best, there are much better ones than me, I don't catch enough fish and the marks I fish are not that popular anymore, although they are special to me and so I keep going back and try my best. I hope all is good with you mate, have a decent week 👍👍
Garth sometimes the fish win the day can’t land them all but nice fun trying to.
Yes very true that Royston, very true! All part of the fun as you say. Hope all is good with you, cheers for watching 👍👍
Another great vid beautiful scenery
Thank you Gary, much appreciated. It was a little gloomy and dark at times and getting nice footage was a little tricky. A nice session though, nice to be out. Cheers and take care 👍👍
Excellent video as always! Thanks Gareth😊
You're welcome Kevin, glad you enjoyed it. The wind was a little strong at times but it was nice to go fishing straight from work. Thank you for watching 👍👍
Hi Gareth, another great video. Good luck with Brixham, fabulous place to fish, looking forward to that video

Thank you Steve, I appreciate your continued support. Nasty bit of weather but hopefully it will improve by the weekend. Hope all is well, cheers for watching 👍👍
Thanks
We don't get many congers our way so they are always nice to see keep it up Gareth always a pleasure watching your video
Thank you Paul, appreciated as always. Yes I don't mind catching Congers, they've always been a part of my fishing and they often save the blank ha! Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Yes another great one Gareth. Should do a little one on referbing the ugly stick . Thanks for continuing to create great vids 😃
Thank you Wayne, appreciated as always. Yes it would be good to show that, although I need to sort out the lighting in the garage as it would be a little dark. Cheers for watching, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
Always look forward to your videos, looks great on the big screen. Tight lines. Cheers.
Thank you Nick, appreciated as always. Hopefully more to come soon and some new marks with a bit of luck. Enjoy the weekend 👍👍
So relaxing watching and listening to these beautiful videos. Brilliant 🎣
Thank you mate. The wind made this one a little tricky to film and when my tripod snapped I thought it was all over but I managed to scrape through ha! Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Great video as always Gareth some beautiful filming 💯👌👍
Thank you Leighton. I fancied my chances of an early Codling but the Congers stole the show once again ha, all good fun though. Cheers as always, have a nice weekend 👍👍

Thank you Ray, I appreciate it. I wasn't sure if I would be able to continue filming when the camera tripod snapped but thankfully I just about made the video! Cheers for watching, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
We always grateful for anything you post mate... sometimes its just not meant to be with outher fish, but a conger is a bonus
No blanks on this channel eh pal 😊
The light at the end of the video was stunning, great watch, thanks for sharing it with us all 👍
Thank you Nigel. It was nice to finish work early and go fishing, I wish I could do that more often ha! The Congers saved me once again, loads about at the moment, some good ones too! You've come a long way since having the stroke...very well done indeed! Cheers for watching, take it easy 👍👍

Great video Gareth bud. Love your intro pics. Gets a feel for the mark before the fishing. Tight lines matey
Thank you Keith. Yes I always try to capture the full experience and the scenery and surroundings is a big part of that. Cheers as always, take care 👍👍
Thank you for the fishing 🎣 video 🎣 mate have a good weekend mate 👍
You're welcome Paul, no problem. A nice little session after work, it was enjoyable. Thank you, hope you have a good one too, enjoy! 👍👍
Hope all is good with you, cheers as always 👍👍
nice one Gareth. oh and you leave the blanking to me mate. lol.🤣👍
Haha thanks Paul. I wouldn't worry about blanking, I blanked 6 sessions on the trot last year, that has to be a new record ha! Cheers as always 👍👍
nice watch again,i was out on my local river this afternoon and had a small salmon for my efforts,i fished a local sea mark last saturday and there was a huge shoal of mackerel there some were a bit small, but not seen that in years
Thanks Craig.
Had a day yesterday at The Knap, first time out in two months after my enforced layoff, but not a touch, so well done to you for the congers.
Great video m8 injoy your blackberry's what ever you make with them
Thank you Kirk. Yes those blackberries were huge, managed to pick a load and was munching them mid-session ha! Hope all is well, take it easy 👍👍
@@riversidewithme thanks buddy
Another enjoyable video Garth ,thank you
You're welcome Mick, pleased you enjoyed it. A bit windy but a nice little session, couldn't really complain. Thank you for watching 👍👍
Great as usual mate very entertaining
Great video 😊
Thanks mate, always appreciated. Hope you've been getting a few sessions in of late. Cheers for watching 👍👍
Maybe a fish/juicing crossover episode?
Don’t change things too much. Great video again. Thank you for these.
Thanks Paul, it was a nice few hours out in fairness, I like going fishing straight from work. Yes I guess there's different things I can do, although I won't be changing things too much. Cheers as always, take it easy 👍👍
Nooo 😂 don't start juicing conger eels 🤣🤣🤣
Haha! Thankfully, the Conger Eels will not end up in the juicer 👍😂
Great session and without the rain it's a win. Some people spend their life hunting down and catching conger, should be looking in on your vids.
Nice one Gar, lovely little afternoon session, and mr eel obliged 👍🏼, out for cod next one ? appreciate your effort as always mate , keep at it 👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you mate.
Another nice video Gareth 🐟👏👏
Thank you Gary. It was a nice few hours out and the Congers provided the entertainment for the day. Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Great video again mate. Can’t believe the cheapy old boat rod failed lol. Well done on the eels
Gareth what a video ! What a chunk of pure muscle (The conger not you mind 😂)
Perfect end to a great week for me.
Ps I've emailed you.

Another cracking video Captain Conger !!!!! Personally i like the self unhooking ones like your first bite ...
Haha thanks Mike. I've never caught so many Congers, they're definitely following me around this year! I was watching an old 'Tight Lines' video the other day and I'm sure it was you on a boat with Keith Arthur, fishing for Blue Sharks! Cheers as always, take care 👍👍

Your a natural in front of camera you should become an actor but saying that we lose our GREAT fishing blog ms cdf
Haha thanks Mark, although I'm far from being a natural, sometimes it all goes wrong and a few takes are required! Cheers 👍👍
This week! I will be mostly eating Blackberries! 😂
I am into the naturopathy vibes too mate! 👍

Cheers for watching, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
keep up the great work.
Thank you Jason, appreciated as always. Hopefully more to come soon. Cheers 👍👍
Well done mate 🎣🎣🎣
Thank you Stephen, appreciated as always. Nice little session after work. Hope all is well, take care 👍👍
Thank-you
You're welcome Roy, thank you for watching, I appreciate the continued support. Take care 👍👍
Nothing wrong with catching a Conger Eel. So much better than a Dogfish!
Yes very true that David ha! There are a lot of Congers about up this way at the moment, some decent ones too. Thank you for watching, take it easy 👍👍
great video best on here by far. Got out myself - had a weird looking bream between 7-8 from the avon - bit of a giant. Id guess at 7 1/4
Thank you mate, I appreciate the kind words.
Great video mate, never fished here before but keen to give it a go can you give me directions as I will be traveling from Bridgend?
Thank you Lee, I appreciate it. So you park right next to the Seawall Tearooms at Goldcliff, postcode is NP18 2PH. Plenty of parking available on the road. Then you walk up the steps in front of you and just pick your spot. I wouldn't fish this mark on the big tides as the rip can be too strong. In this video, I am on the point to the left which is a 10/15 minute walk from where you park, best fished on the smaller tides. The bay as we call it, next to where you park, is fine for the medium size tides. Cheers 👍👍
@@riversidewithme top man thanks Gareth may see you down there one day 👍🏻
Another cracking video Gareth....as always!!
Gareth....should be reading pies!!!!
Haha no probs 🙂
Fantastic video as always, Gareth. I am also in to Berries. One of the best ones are sea-buckthorne berries. Have you worked with them? If not, I made a video on them, let me know if you want the link. Tight Lines till next time.
Thank you mate, appreciated as always. Ah yes I love using the sea-buckthorne berries, they can be excellent. I remember watching your video on them when you first made it, very good indeed, well done. Cheers for watching, take it easy 👍👍
Another great vid G, don’t you dare mention them whiting lol, plagued by the lil blighters last weekend down porthcawl
Going to give the barrage a bash tonight been a while
@@andrewsaunders868 Good luck 👍
Hi Gareth, caught my first Usk whitting tonight, their in mate.
Good stuff, hopefully a few will turn up this year, would be great to see some nice Whiting hit the Newport area like they used to 👍
@@riversidewithme tides are huge atm. Just had a shocking session, battling trees, bushes, grass floating round my swim all session causing me to miss bites. Nightmare session.
@@mtadave6702 Yes the Usk is always hard work on bigger tides, I tend to fish it on the smaller ones, less debris etc. Hopefully you'll have a better session next time
@@riversidewithme the Bristol bore is running, it's that time of year.
Grate vid .😊 get yourself a landing net
Thank you Darren, much appreciated. Yes definitely, I'm already looking for one, will be much easier then, those rocks don't get any easier ha! Cheers for watching 👍👍
Ive just got the fold away savage gear one its big enough to get a decent size eel or tope in
Xl ive got its 70cm x 85cm
Sounds perfect, thanks Darren 👍
Nice session, looked a bit nippy though
Yes it was a bit Andrew, that North Westerly just wouldn't go away, made it tricky to film too. Cheers as always, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
Nice Conger Gareth. I'd rather catch Conger than dopey dog fish. What size tide is best for Newport area? Haven't fished there for a while.
Cheers 👍👍
I’ve been watching your vids, and I’m gunna try fishing I’ve bought a rod and got 25lbs main line, what size rig line do I use for that line
@riversidewithme great thanks for getting back I also have a condolences but an uptide rod it's great to use take care and thanks.
It's supposed to read conolon sorry, that's pre text for you.
Can you do a rod build video
I'll have a go at doing that one day, although I'd need to sort the lighting out in the garage as it's a bit dark. Cheers 👍👍
Start catching fish, and do catch and cook vids, with juice as drinks. The cod have started showing down Cardiff way btw....
Good to hear the Cod are showing up, will hopefully be a good Autumn and Winter for them. Cheers 👍👍
@@riversidewithme hopefully these southerly gales will push some cod up the Usk to. Been catching some nice big congers and bass between transporter and city bridge recently to.
@@mtadave6702 Good stuff, does seem to be a few Congers and Bass about at the moment, good time of the year for them now.
Years ago from October onwards, the Whiting fishing on the Usk was amazing, sadly all gone now.
guessing you cant walk out onto the mud
Not where I was as the mud is too soft. Although you can do much further down where you park, mixed harder ground and you can fish from low water up. Cheers 👍👍
Well done Gareth another great down to earth video , and yes the good old conger save us many a blank on the mud . Take care butty 👍
@kevinthomas8029 Yes, a session on Sunday sounds good, go for it! Totally agree, best form of therapy available! 👍
Another great video. Nice relaxing watch
Thank you Ed, much appreciated. A nice little session after work, an enjoyable few hours. Cheers as always, take care 👍👍
