There's nothing good about playing 12 straight hours like I did... Health first, friend, no matter if you're young and your body can take the beat.
As long as he doesn't start actually believing all the adults who are currently slathering him with superlatives... he'll have a future in the music biz. Truth is there are literally millions of "Jadens" coming up who are every bit as talented. Stay humble Mr. Lehman and keep learning/playing - that's my advice.
A young human brain learns easier than an older one so if you are young and dedicated, the world is your oyster. He makes that Strat sound sooooo good. Keep playing young man.
Sad, a lot of jealous people giving negative comments here, like you guys played this good at 12... Glad for Jaden and his parents! Thanks Norman for giving Jaden a stage and for sharing. This might be historical.
Young man has a humble demeanor and is talented. How low have we sunk as a civil society when we slam kid's doing what they like. You want him out selling drugs?
He has aparetnly spent the hours in practice to hone his skill. I have been teaching guitar for 8 years and it amazes me how so many act like a magic spell will make them a great player instead of practicing. I have had some remarkable students. I started with on student on bass and in 6 months she was playing Flea songs from RHCP. She spent a lot of time working on her playing and is much in line with this kid today. It's hard to find students that can understand the work load and how to achieve objectives. Unfortunately the norm is to make the lessons there practice time then they go home to there tv shows and games in a week I have to teach them the same stuff over again. But once in a while I get a student that is ready to do the work. it's all about the time you put into your craft. This kid has a lot of potential.
Agree with you, however, he may also have that special talent for music and can learn faster than most. Do we know if this amazing talent played 8 hours a day for 4 yrs? Maybe not?
I GUARANTEE this kid has put his time in...guitar playing has a lot to do with muscle memory...the only way to achieve this is thru time and hard work. Even the most talented musicians practice thousands of hours. It may come easier to some, but it's no shortcut.
He's actually good unlike most kids that people see playing and freak out over. People see a young kid who's ok and automatically deem him the next Hendrix when he's really just playing basic pentatonic licks. This isn't the case here. He's great
Throughout the comments, I've noticed alot of people saying they wish they could play like that. Play to your own style, feel and love what you do. Don't feel envious of people's abilities, but be inspired by them. There's always going to be someone out there who has amazing talent. Don't be put off by this, learn something new every day. Cet enfant est absolument incroyable Incredible. Et il n'a que douze ans! And he is only twelve! Il joue sans médiator. Il a une grande technique. Et il joue dans différents styles. Sa performance "jazzistique" est tout-à-fait étonnante! Very good musician! Alain. From France. And guitarist too.
Didn't start learning scales until I was in my 20s..now late 50s and I'm cool with where I am playing. Great to see this young man into it early....hes doing well
Im 15, ive been playing for almost as long, and i only just recently started learning how important tone is. I wish i had somebody to teach me like this kid probably did, that wouldve made it significantly easier XD.
whatever people told you, you are the one who will determine your future, if you wanna be a professional musician, then do it. Don't change it just because someone said becoming musician is hard and you should do a normal job working from 8am to 5pm, just don't. incase someone wanted to start trolling read this: (i never said doing a normal job is suck)
Angger Rangas When I was seven years old I wished to be a musician, I knew how to play piano, guitar, bass, drums and violin. And my parents kept saying that I should do something better when I grew up so yeah there went all my dreams, I even cried a little. I'm still young, I'm 15 and I recently started to pick up my old instruments and the dreams came back, now my parents don't even care about what I should do so yeah :')
Bemont good for you mate, the first time i learn my first instrument is when I'm 15, and my biggest mistake is that i even never dare to dream to be a musician, and now I'm 21 and right now starting to be a musician again recently i bought my first audio interface, i guess age doesn't matter if you love and wanted to learn something, you just have to brave enough to do it.
Angger Rangas haha I live in a city that doesn't really have the opportunities that every musician wants, but I hope now with the internet I can find some ways to make it, I mainly just play and I'm going to record something in a few months, I have a house for me now so I'm going to move soon and hopefully make a little home studio. Good luck in life for you! Hopefully you'll make your dreams come true

the important thing to ask yourself is this....if being a musician only turns out to be a hobby for the rest of your life are you ok with that? If so go for it because most likely thats what it will be.
I don't know if I've told this story on this video before, but I was 15 when I got my musician's union card in 1963. I was playing a 1959 white pine Tele at the time with a Showman amp. I fell in love with the 1964 sunburst Stratocaster identical to the one that Jaden is playing here and begged and borrowed enough money to buy it and a Twin Reverb amp. Of all the scores of guitars I've had in my life, this was the one! Right now, I have the next best thing, a custom Strat Plus with hand-wound pickups by Lindy Fralin, the best hand-builder of single coil pickups (and more) in the world. It comes as close as possible to the original '65 Stratocaster style, though my current amp is digital & synthesizes the original Twin Reverb with spring reverb very well, but not perfectly. (look up Lindy Fralin on RUclips for a bunch of examples of his work. His company is in Virginia & he will hand-wind to your order including overwound or underwound pickups to your specification). He even took an alder wood bodied Squire Stratocaster with, IIRC, a rosewood neck & put on a set of his Vintage Hots. It sounded better than any store-bought Strat you can get today. I loved Jaden's playing, but my heart goes out to the guitar's extraordinary tone. And he's only showing off one of the 5 switch positions. Lindy also has a kit to rewire the selector switch & one pot so that you can blend in combinations of all three pickups for some unique sound. I looked on eBay last year trying to find this same Strat & the only one I saw was already bid up over $10,000 (sigh...)
PianoSteve i dont listen to nearly anything made after the 80's. Thats just because i enjoy tje older music more since. I know theres alot of mordern day music thats utter garbage and that alot of it sounds the same, but i can still see that there are alot of good artists too even though i dont enjoy it. Its just really cringy when people say that the only kind of music that is good is the music they listen to and everything else is garbage.
Mathis Salicath Its Just that most music now a days isnt made with real instruments anymore, the singing had been edited with the pc so it sounds better. I live in the Netherlands and there is some sort of plague going on, all these young guys start to make "rap" music. I'd like you to search Rapper Boef and tell me what you think about it. That kind of music overfloods the market. I live near a busy road and If there is Someone that had music on in his car, its that shitty ass rap music. So hopefully you get my point.
ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE! no hese gust a kid that take weekly lessons, I live for playing the guitar, I play it every other second, then a kid like this is called the new eric claptong for playing OHH FANCY FINGER PICKING.
Certainly, my mistake; have you ever heard about players such as Hendrix, Slash or Stevie-Ray Vaughan 'burn' as much as this boy on a guitar at the age of 12?
Jaden as an old guy who has played a guitar alot longer then you've been alive I think your amazing! Keep up the great work. It's wonderful to see that your keeping great guitar 🎸 music alive! Now start writing your own music!
i knew i was gonna want to curl up in the corner and cry when i clicked on this vid

Ten 10 It's not about how many years you've been playing. It's about how much time through the years you've had the instrument in your hands playing.
Playing for 10minutes a week for 7 years does not make you a "playin for 7years"- guitar player.

German Lehmann who cares
Cet enfant est absolument incroyable
Incredible.
Et il n'a que douze ans!
And he is only twelve!
Il joue sans médiator.
Il a une grande technique.
Et il joue dans différents styles.
Sa performance "jazzistique" est tout-à-fait étonnante!
Very good musician!

Erwin Gonzalez impressive for an anything-year-old
Maybe to you
Erwin Gonzalez U have to admit, at whatever level of guitar youre at, this shows some real skill
Anyways kid has talent no doubt about it. Plays guitar better than any 12 year old I've seen
Erwin Gonzalez mos impressive
1:15 bruh I love that E major 13 chords he’s playing! Such a beauty!
Don't change it just because someone said becoming musician is hard and you should do a normal job working from 8am to 5pm, just don't.
incase someone wanted to start trolling read this:
(i never said doing a normal job is suck)
Angger Rangas that's bs I hate when people say if you want something in life then "do it" it's complete bullshit
12 years old and allready gives away that slick rock star vibe! Love this little fella haha!
damn son thats some fucking jazzy shit
Take a shot everytime he says, "and...uh".
Ryan Leung "goes to find alcohol"😂

Don't do it. Keep playing. Keep playing.
You like around 2 years old you got time to catch him little one
You must sell your soul buddy and everything is gonna be okay, trust me
Make sure its a fender stratocaster. I will take it =)))
I don't know if I've told this story on this video before, but I was 15 when I got my musician's union card in 1963.
Look at that boy! He probably grew up listening to good music. Not that BS "music" now-a-days
PianoSteve this kinda made me cringe
Mathis Salicath Why? Most of the music made Today doesnt take that much skill to make
PianoSteve i dont listen to nearly anything made after the 80's.
PianoSteve ahaha idd boef
He's better than most 60 something guitarists I know.
ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE! no hese gust a kid that take weekly lessons, I live for playing the guitar, I play it every other second, then a kid like this is called the new eric claptong for playing OHH FANCY FINGER PICKING.
Did you ever hear about players like hendrix slash or STV burn as much as this kid on a guitar at the age of 12?
Thomas Northfield Can you retype that with proper english grammar?
Certainly, my mistake; have you ever heard about players such as Hendrix, Slash or Stevie-Ray Vaughan 'burn' as much as this boy on a guitar at the age of 12?
Thomas Northfield ...No? Because they're famous artists having produced quite a few recognizable works. This kid is only 12.
Jaden as an old guy who has played a guitar alot longer then you've been alive I think your amazing! Keep up the great work. It's wonderful to see that your keeping great guitar 🎸 music alive! Now start writing your own music!
I have guitars way older than this kid, all of which are now going in the bin!
before clicking this video i already knew he was better than me so i had to think twice about it
Medacwomba same
