Both these ladies were wonderful in their own way. Joan didn't judge her and let her tell her tale. Connie seemed like a down to earth person who's love was obviously what she did and it's her life, she didn't hurt anyone and she seemed to be really happy with her choice. I saw Joan in concert in Sydney years ago and she was one of the funniest people I've ever seen. We need more women like this - honest, open and unafraid to be who they want to be. She was obviously very sexualy active and was very determined to become a famous groupie at all cost. She was not some dumb B****, She graduated from high school and got her self a degree. She owned her own home. She lived her life in her own terms and never with regrets. It would make no sense to not be proud. She met many famous people and got to hang with them not just sex. I admired the fact that she could have chosen to get pregnant by a rich star and be supported by him but she knew that was mercenary and she didn't believe in that. As she once said...."Many Girls would kill to be were i am" and I believe it! Especially back in the 70s. One thing is for sure, nobody should judge her. I've had a lot of female friends like that and sadly they have all said the same thing. They use sex to get friends but it really isnt about the sex to them. It's about the sense of belonging and family. Sure there some who aren't lacking in personal love or affection in their lives and they really enjoy what they do. As far as her lasting friendships with these people, I really would be curious to see what would happen if she asked Don Henley for a favor.

Connie was a very sweet person. My old roommate and I in the 80’s just called her up and asked her questions about getting back stage but decided it wasn’t for us. However Connie and I maintained a close friendship through letters and phone calls and when I was in Memphis with my boyfriend we went to Little Rock to see Connie. Connie also came Carl Florida in 92 to radio show and she stayed with me. She was very nice to me and I miss talking to her. My boyfriend couldn’t believe I knew her but she told him my friend Jeanne is a good girl take care of her I love her like a lil sis. I miss her. Somewhere I have a picture of us together I’ll try to find it and post it. Remember she really is just an ordinary girl who found something that made her happy in her world. The Penthouse issue came out in 1992. I've met Connie several times and was at a Super Bowl party in the lat 80's with her that was next door to her apartment. During half time several of us went with her and she showed us her collection of concert memorabilia and actual pictures of her in action. She was always really nice. She might be judged for her life, but how many people actually live their lives without hurting others and without concern about what others think?

    • @zenobiaw831

May I remind you, we were discussing Connie. No one else. Focus please. Also, no where did I mention that she was a prostitute. These are all your own assumptions and conclusions, so perhaps you'd like to think extra hard about that. I merely pointed out that she doesn't seem to have had any deep connections with other beings, though she claims to have made a lot of "friends". Are they truly friends though? In the true deep sense of the word? Or are they simple acquaintances with sex tossed in the mix? If the latter is true, it is extremely sad.
