In May of 2015 we moved back to New Hampshire, to where we are going to reclaim our 8.5 acres, and turn it into our modern homestead. We built the house the first summer. Now we invite you along in our journey of reclaiming the land, bringing livestock back on the land, gardening, permaculture, and all of our out of the box thinking DIY projects. We are excited to document the process of bringing the land back to its natural functioning beauty, using animals, and organic techniques to help heal it and thrive.
Overhang is nice..I would have added a few gold flakes in the cement//good idea with the dripcaps..add vaseline to avoid it adhering to the drip caps..details matter
Looks good but you should have 45° angle on your wood trim, would have gave it more of a professional finished look. Minor details are what make huge impacts
This is so cool. I made the mistake of watching with my wife and now she wants a blue island.
Put your daughter's hand print in the concrete just before it sets. Blessings!
Tina G It's to late!😜 I bet she would of loved that.
I hear using melamine board would allow you not to sand so much. It's smooth already so you just need to get fine sand concrete I think. IDK though because I never done it, just what I hear.
How did you fasten the 2x4 to the bottom of the plywood?
awesome 👍👍👍
whens the pouring the cement vid coming out ?
OFF GRID GEORGE I am editing it as we speaking it will be live by tomorrow morning!
hi! I want to extand my islande and make my main table out of it. How do you make sure the extension is trong enough to support the concrete? my island is about 4x5 feet right now and I want to add 4 feet extra for a total of 8x5. I was thinking about adding metal pipes leg for a more industrial look. Can you please help me for the weight/structure capacity?
I'm excited to see the pouring process and the finished product. Years ago someone suggested I do a concrete counter and I balked--felt like more than I could do by myself--but I hate the tile I put down instead. Maybe I could concrete over the tile?!
Amy Delventhal Awesome! Yes you could pour over the tile with the right concrete mix! Those videos will be out SOON!😜
Yeah but did you vibrate the sides so they will look good to this step is often missed.
Uh oh, I missed this one of the form build before you did the concrete.
👍 👍
Very Nice job!!!
Thank you!
Cool
