Thanks Leigh. Informative and entertaining as ever. Check out LOOGU Camo Netting, Light and a lot less annoying than string based stuff. When your cutting poles, leave the thin flexible top and bend it over under the tarp or netting,. Good luck with the meat, matron!
I use a similar setup but have the cheap leaf cut style cammo netting . And i picked up a set of fiberglass 10mm tent poles off marketplace and made up 2 cross poles and 2 upright poles . Cut medium duty round steel tent pegs down to 3" long plus the hooked end and used epoxy to secure them in the holes in the fiberglass cross poles to make hooked ends and used 2 of the off cut straight pieces to fit the upright poles . Now i can hook the poles into the eyelets in Basha sheets and fix one to the roof rails with bungees and fit the uprights at the corners of the other now out at the front of the sheet with guy lines coming out to pull it tight = easy cammo awning to camp / work under with the vehicle and awning covered with the leaf cut netting . Got some DPM material off ebay and made up a long draw string stuff sack for a basha sheet and the poles to keep them together . Note - I cut the cross poles 3" wider than the basha sheets so i have to bend them slightly to get the hooks in but it pulls them out nice and taught .And the ferrules on the poles can be heated and pulled off when cutting the poles to size , i used epoxy to re fit them to strenghten the ends and pole couplers .
@@TheBugOutShop The awning part works good , used it for year's . Funniest time was when we set it up at 4am in a layby with a cut out in the hedge at Church Fenton to get a spot for the airshow . Military vehicles look, I would spray paint black primer on the paint job, painters tape on the headlights and taillights brake off the reverse light..and tag light. The UK population density is too heavy so any disaster that requires it would have most of the city bailing out. Bio diversity is messed up, any more than a few days and humans like locus will strip everything of use, waterways are essentially all heavily polluted. The north of Scotland is barren so thats a no go. Unless you have a hell of a lot of skill. One winter up there and you are screwed.
