I haven't had a chance to watch through things yet, but just wanted to say thank you so much for these videos! So very appreciated. Hope everything goes smoothly for you and the cats!
so glad you decided to make a video series about these, i've been working with your packs for a couple years now and it's great to see how the author themselves, techniques/methods/work flow. appreciate your work, Bernhard
Awesome to see this entire project from start to finish, amazing work! You said the dirty uv workflow isn't good for production but still cool to see VFX hacks to speed up personal work. You could rig and retarget mocap using advance skeleton to this creature! I'm eyeballing some of your kits to use in Unreal
Yes exactly - it's great for personal work. Retargeting. mocap etc great too. I am actually going to upload some quick animations I made with this guy tonight (or tomorrow night).
thank you very much. I always wanted to know how to make these types of textures on creatures... do you have more tutorials like this free or paid? Or do you plan to make more textures like this?
Thanks Bernhard! I've brought all your packs, they're so bloody good! The setting up of Substance was super useful, I've never seen anybody else demo it like that. One question; Where abouts did you get those smart masks from? or are they ones you've created yourself?
That's great to know, cheers. So you mean the masks specifically? Nothing special as far as i remember. I usually use default smart masks and tweak them to my liking, add to it, or simpler fill layers with input masks I baked from the high poly (as often seen in this video, and the baking aspect to get those maps is covered in part 3), or generators - Mask Editors, edited to taste. Usually a lot of manual painting on top to suit the model.
I'm so glad someone does texturing videos with creatures, material like this is impossible to find
Cheers, glad you find it useful. Interesting, I did not know there's a lack of these.
Amazing work man... thanks for sharing
LOVE

I've already learned the phrase "Bob's my Uncle," and I'm only 6:30 minutes in!
Amazing series!
