  • After you guys saw the vlog where Brandon purchased his new Sure Trac dump trailer from Kelley and Sons, a lot of you guys bombarded Brandon and I with DM's on Instagram and RUclips asking to see an in depth walk around on the Sure Trac dump trailer!
    Brandon was happy to share since we know how much these videos mean to you guys, especially when you're in the market and trying to research new equipment. This is the 7x14 Sure Trac Telescopic dump trailer, which is basically the top of the line dump trailer offered by Sure-Trac.
    Brandon has been eye balling this trailer for the better part of 6-9 months now, ever since he really out grew his other trailer pretty quickly. He realized that he was limited with the old trailer on capacity and also, the amount of time needed to unload a trailer by hand. Never again!
    This is definitely a great investment and upgrade for Brandon. I know he's really going to put this trailer to work. Curious, do you guys run a dump trailer with your operation? What size and what brand? Always curious to know what you guys are running and what's working best. Leave us a comment down below!

    Thanks for watching! What do you guys think about the trailer and if you’ve ran one before, how much mulch can fit in one of these bad boys?

    • @bjgarbacz1
      @bjgarbacz1 5 лет назад +1

      Well I did the math 7x14x3 (l w h of trailer) is just under 300 cubic ft theres 27 cubic feet and a cubic yard so 300/27=11.11111111. So about 12-13 of they mound it good. Even more if he adds higher sides, but that's a lot of mulch we rarely use more than ten at one site here we do gas stations and each one uses 6-9 yards of mulch so it's nice to have 15 in my trailer so we can get 2 done with one load.

      how much does the 7x14 cost

    • @mycodeofhonor
      @mycodeofhonor 4 года назад

      With the single 2”x12” extension and filled dead flat to the top it would be 10.8 cubic yards. So in my experience with previous dump trailers it would practically be 10yds.
      I’m actually looking at buying this exact model in a 16’ next week and the walk around was super useful since my closest dealer is a 1.5hr drive away. Thanks for doing it guys!!

    @brianslawnmaintenace, Thank you for sharing! We love your videos and enjoy watching you do your thing!
    We noticed a few people asking about the telescopic in comparison to other hoists. If you were to dump the load by hand, where would you lift it at? The dual ram (good) model lifts from the back 1/3 of the trailer, which means that majority of the load you are dumping is in front of the lifting mechanism. This creates a lot of wasted energy, as well as applying more and unecessary pressure to the frame of the trailer. The scissor (better) is a bit further forward, so you have less resistance. The telescopic hoist (best) is the most efficient hoist on the market. Because all of the resistance (load) is behind the lifting point, it maximizes the force being asserted by the pump and the hoist, and drastically reduces the stress on the trailer frame. You no longer have to worry about being too heavy on the front (front loaded) or an equally distributed load. For a video on the hoist comparison, check out our video at ruclips.net/video/1ALgFCEJvWo/видео.html.
    The trailer is equipped with a trickle charge that runs through the 7-way plug. This is a slow charge pulling low voltage, but will provide a few extra dumps during the course of the day. But it will not completely charge your battery. When are you as busy as Brandon, you will want to plug it in each night to be sure it is fully-charged and ready to roll the next morning!

    • @slaveofjesus3878
      @slaveofjesus3878 2 года назад

      Considering this is a bumper pull, I would hardly say that you "You no longer have to worry about being too heavy on the front". I would be very careful about putting too much weight on the rear axel of the truck. Yet we know you were focusing exclusively on the load lifting ability of the trailer.
      I've heard that the scissor lift is the LEAST capable in lifting a load, but I've only used the dual ram dump myself.

  • @quadracer392
    @quadracer392 5 лет назад +2

    Unless the newer Silverados are different, for it to charge the battery while you have the trailer plugged in, you have to hook the +12v wire up to the fuse panel under the hood yourself to one of the Aux studs.

  • @lordrichard8184
    @lordrichard8184 5 лет назад +12

    That’s awesome!!!
    They say mulch weighs between 600-800 lbs per yard. Depending on moisture content. So he could haul between 12-16 yards of mulch per run with that trailer. Great setup.
    Also when loading heavy equipment put those rear jacks down and put the truck in neutral with the parking brake on. It will help to make the transmission last longer on the truck.
    And did the trailer come with a gravity down feature?

    Congrats on the new truck and dump trailer. Bought a 12 ft dump trailer last summer. It was a total game changer. Obviously way easier for mulch, topsoil etc. Also boxed it in for leaf clean ups with the leaf vac on it. The box is easily removable for summer. Went from taking almost 45 minutes to unload leaves down to about 5 minutes at the dump site. It was probably one of the best purchases I've made so far. You're going to love the efficiency you have now.

    Sure Trac trailers are the balls. I'm trading my 7x12 10K for a 7x12 12k Scissor Hoist in a few weeks. I've put the 10K through it's paces over the past 6 years - stone, mulch, topsoil, junk, brush, wood and my Bobcat MT85...Sure Trac hauls it all. Have fun making money and be safe!

    Beautiful trailer ! Congratulations . It is a game changer for a small business. I have a 7 x 14 dump with 33” sides . Bought it new in 2006. It has paid for itself several times over . I have hauled so many things with it . I know I have mentioned this before,Do not bother buying a heavier 2 5/16 ball hitch. Buy a pintle hook or 2 5/16 Pinole /ball combo and the proper pintle ring for the trailer height adjustable sleeve. Dump trailers place stresses on the trailer coupler that they simply were not designed for . When 5 tons of firewood shifts as your dumping and try’s to push the tow vehicle forward with the force of being rear ended , you will risk damaging your coupler . There’s a reason heavy duty trailers and the military use a pintle hook . It’s secure , strong and safe .My only other concern is your lift cylinder those staged cylinders are super expensive , And with three stages, it’s 3x more likely to leak than a single. I prefer a twin piston or scissor lift. I definitely prefer a double acting cylinder as well so you don’t need that chain and can power down very helpful when loading with the ramps . I love the shallow tool tray under the trailer , very nice touch. I hope your truck has 4.10 gears it’s going to be working pulling that trailer when it’s loaded . My old Duramax and my big block pulled well but you know it’s there for sure .

    If you are going to be using your trailer very much I recommend getting a hydraulic (electric) jack instead of the hand crank style. Believe me, it gets old cranking your trailer up and down by hand and fiddling with raising and lowering the foot every single time you hook/unhook the trailer.

    • @slaveofjesus3878
      @slaveofjesus3878 2 года назад

      I've found the hand crank with spring return to work great, no excessive time in lowering and raising. Though I'm not very strong, and found that it can take quite a bit of my strength to raise a 10k skid-steer load (gooseneck trailer) up even a few inches.

    They make nice trailers. I like how there’s no weld seams on the bottom of the bed and they mount the d rings on the side and not the floor, less chance for shit to get stuck coming out while dumping. I like when companies think of the little things too

    I love the those trailers with the telescoping cylinder in the front. With the cylinder in the front it allows the trailer to lift so much better than if they are underneath. One little thing to watch for tho. You said the lady that sold it to you said to lift it up all the way....but if you have a load on the trailer and you go to dump it I have had the trailer lift the back of my truck off the ground before I got even a quarter of the load dumped. So be careful and make sure you dump it slower so you don't find that out like I did.

  • @Bsetzd

    I got the same 7x12 14k. I love it. I keep my ramps out all the time lighter i can keep the trailer. More wight you can haul legally. An i put a wireless remote on it for spreading gravel it's so much better but to wire that in you also need to put a relay in that's the only way you can make it work because it has power-up and power-down mines the dull Ram.

    I have a 7x14 Kaufman dump with scissor lift and it worked great. 15k trailer . Only thing I see Brandon may not like is that tarp inside the trailer. I think it’ll end up being in the way with brush and stuff. Should be mounted on top or in front. But it could work out fine but just seems that way to me. Great looking trailer though. Several little features I like about yours way better than mine.

    Great video guys! Looks like a really good dump angle on that trailer. Maybe next video do a comparison between telescopic/scissor/ dual ram. Dump trailers are notorious for not dumping wet sand or soil completely. Yours looks like it would without issue. That’s a big plus. Also touch on the axles and tires. I’m guessing 7k dexter axles. Dealers usually sell with 10or 12 ply tires. I’d highly recommend when those wear out get 14ply. Last much longer and they will rarely pick up nails at the dump where the 10 and 12 ply will let nails pass through much easier. We have a 7x14 load trail dump with scissor lift. Been a great trailer for over 5 years

    Telescoping cylinder is the best mechanism for raising and lowering. Seam to go higher than the Scissors hoist mechanism. Just remember to always have a little bit a tongue weight as you're hauling the material out of the site so you don't put that trailer in motion as you're driving. Also check out the hydraulic jack for raising and Lowering off the hitch! Congrats on the new tool to make you more productive!

    • @ronmexico1975
      @ronmexico1975 5 лет назад

      Michael Strout Uhhh actually you do have to worry about the weight it’s just like any other bulk material. Mulch is the lightest out of sand and topsoil and but you’re still looking at at least 700 pounds per yard. You have to take into account the weight of the trailer plus the weight of the mulch and what is your truck and hitch rated for? You can easily overload and put too much weight on there. The trailer could probably handle it but the truck is a different story. Not to mention the stress on your transmission and brakes. I have the same truck except it’s a 2015. The max tow rating on these trucks is 13,000 pounds as far as the bumper pull is concerned not a third wheel or gooseneck. I have had my trailer filled with 12 yards of mulch. My calculations at 700 pounds a yard plus the empty weight of my trailer and sides was right up at 12,925 pounds. I definitely would not want to do that again as it was very stressful on the truck not to mention it tightened your rear end up while driving in traffic. If it had a diesel it would probably be a different story.

      Holy crap dude, go easy! I was merely making the point that his 14 foot dump trailer, with a lifting capability of 14 thousand pounds, wouldn't even notice a full load of mulch. I know these things. Go troll like a douch on some other channel.

      Michael Strout Go back and read your post! You did not and were not saying that. It’s clearly typed by you. “Good thing about mulch is you can put on how much will fit.” I type facts and like a typical millennial, you can’t accept that you’re wrong and lie about what you’re “just saying”. Not trolling as I pointed out what you said as being wrong let alone irresponsible and dangerous and point it out with facts. How are you gonna tell me that’s not what you said and then call me a douche and say I’m trolling when it’s right there in print? Learn the dump trailer towing game kid and then take ownership of your own ignorance! “You know these things” yet you type the exact opposite. Umm hmm, ok snowflake.

    The equipment trailer I occasionally rent has a small solar charger on top of the battery box. You need to be careful but it will never be out of juice

    Nice trailer but it could use a hydraulic jack for front, especially if ever need to disconnect when loaded.

    How wide is the tool tray. What’s it depth and why is not all the way to the front of the trailer but placed back a bit? Thanks for your reply in advance.

    I know I’m late to the party, but I had to share a story. I used to work with another guy doing landscaping( lawns and mulch primarily) We went to grab mulch one day, then got to the job and he realized it was the wrong type, we went back to the dump to return it, and as he was dumping the trailer shot up. He never secured the trailer to the ball on the truck, and we were driving around for an hour with it not secured. I was standing right next to it and jumped wayyy out of the way

    The drop legs on the back do not stop wear and tear on your vehicle. They are so when you load something heavy up the ramps you don't lift the back of your truck off the ground and start rolling, could be a disaster.

  • @perryschmoll7088
    @perryschmoll7088 5 лет назад

    Is there a way to lock the ramps with a paddle-lock? I'm not sure if anyone would try to ever steal them or not?

    Go with a Gen-Y hitch, they are rated very well for strength.
