I think it would be crazy to have the house even or below the grade of the street. Some elevation with a gentle slope to the entrance tends to look best. Accounting for the height of the floor framing, it will be a little bit over a foot above the sidewalk. That should look good.
Are you guys going to be removing the foam, before you're installing the bricks? I'm assuming you are, based on what you were saying, but how are you guys going to be doing that? Separately, I'll admit, when I read "foam at the top of foundation", I was picturing you taking, say, 1" thick foam, and laying it on top of the foundation, presumably below where you would be putting the sill place, so it would be in between them, as a thermal break. That does sound nice/workable, but I have no idea whether it's even possible or legal (according to the Code), and all of that.
It's not my house, but he mentioned grade, drainage, groundwater, etc. at 1:25 I don't know what state this is in, but frostline may play a part in how much cover the footings require.
I watched this video just to see how the foam was secured to the form boards. Outta luck. I've got to do that in a month and so does a fellow builder. The force of the concrete falling down the pump hose is enough to rip the foam off its fasteners. I could put a thousand screws into the foam to hold it in place. It would leave a thousand holes in the form boards, but hey, they aren't my boards. 🤔😵💫
