  • In this video I build the American Morse Mini-B Miniature Single Lever Paddle.
In searching for a single lever paddle to review, for my ongoing portable Morse code paddle series, I decided to purchase the American Morse Mini-B Miniature Single Lever Paddle. Purchase options include an already assembled paddle or a kit. I opted for the kit.

just add a little wheel bearing grease to the end of the allen wrench to keep the allen screws on while installing and work on a towel!

I’m an “already assembled” guy. With my eyesight and patience, that kit would be in the middle of the freeway and I’d be watching tractor trailers run over it. 😂🤣

HAHA - ok Rick, I understand that. Funning description.

Nice build! Man, there are some tiny parts in there. First thing I would do is lose something. I am a fan of single lever paddles. 73, Patrick KF4LMZ

Charlie, I have a couple AME keys and found eventually the electrical connection through the pivot points, etc start to become flaky. I dismantled them and added dielectric grease to all of them and the screws for good measure. Good to go. They're nice little keys.

Haha - well the camera made this look easy but I had a few struggles myself. I'm glad I chose to build it though.

The one thing I dislike about AME is that they use a cable instead of a jack. I have the ultra porta paddle and had to do some jiggering to get a jack in it without shorting anything.

Red since this does not come with a cable, may I ask what cable you did use and what model is the cable? Thanks, and 73 de KO4AYC

Checked out the site but there is nothing mentioning the colors available.
Another issue is Pay Pal. The site would not let me update my info but sent me off to another web page with an 800 number. That led to some call center in India where some kid wanted ALL of my card info to update it for me. Yeah NO, damn scammers are located in India.

Oh no! This doesn't sounds right. Well, regarding the colors available it does. But my purchase didn't go like that at all. Sorry to hear this. I hope you got it sorted without more trouble.

@mikesmithg0rfd356 I have two and both the levers are up. Strapped to my leg, my trowsers interfere with the lever if the lever points down. Mounted on the truck console, up feels better to me as well. Hand held, either position works. It's up to the user. Cheers

Honestly, this was an oversight on my part. Dick's comment below about it not mattering saved my bacon. I prefer it the way I built it. After your comment I was reluctantly thinking about switching it. Now I think I'll just leave it and see how it goes. Good catch.
