I figured, but I never actually got a confirmation that that was in fact the sound. It must count for something since it's been a standard pickup for a long time. But I don't think it's very popular these days. That said, it's not a question of "better." It's not an acoustic sound. Period. If that's what you want, use a mic. Personally I think it sounds good. As does a Stimer. And especially Feigeli Prisor (who I really like)---it just sounds really good coming from him. Makes sense for him.
