@1BattleRattle For a non-stainless/tool steel it holds up pretty well. Of course it will rust, but compared to other non-stainless like 5160, O1, 1095, I have found it more resistant. I believe it is due to a much higher chromium content (5%). I agree with you too, about a patina adding character. I have it on a couple of my knives. My Bravo actually has a light patina that is visible in the right light. But I do like to preserve my blades for the most part, hence the rag and oil. Thanks!
Re-watched this video again, like a lot of your videos. Great field demo! I'm defiantly going to pick up a Bark River knife soon and have been looking at either the Aurora or the Bravo 2. Those two have stood out to me the most and this review helped my decision.
Bark River actually touts the "thumb ramp" to be used as a surface to strike against a fire steel. Any thumb ramp functions are secondary. Great knives.
@CliffStamp Good question. With some things like feathersticks, I like it a little better because for me the weight of the knife helps control those cuts. With notching though, the mora is probably able to cut a finer notch due to its thin profile. Of course the Bravo 1 will split wood much better and strip branches better too. It slices surprisingly well, but maybe not as good as the thin mora. Edge retention is superior and sharpening is good. The biggest advantage is its toughness.
@CliffStamp Well, I don't really like to use any knife as a stand-alone tool, but out of a Mora or the Bravo 1, the B1 would definitely suit me better as a stand-alone since it can take much more of a beating. But for me, the B1 also compliments a saw or axe very well....and that's generally how I use it. Thanks for the good comments/questions!
that is a good knife. you are 110% right. this knife needs to be used to fully appreciate it. better yet use it side by side with another convex grind knife in its category. then you will really see the differences. i learned to work around the firestriking ramp. i only use the grip you showed with my izula
@cachewild Yeah, it is no doubt a lot stronger as the spine is significant thicker. Do you see this as more of a general stand alone blade and the Mora is a side knife to an axe or larger blade?
I really like my F1 but I want to pick up a Bravo 1 in CPM 3V... I know you like them both so I won't bother asking you which one you like better. Great videos by the way, thanks for the time you put into making them.
@funkysideup I don't have any experience with the 3V. I've read that it's good stuff and it has some advantages with its element composition. Pricier too. Thanks.
@8666bullet Those are some gore tex Merrells I'v had since about 2004. Great boots, which is why they're still around I guess. Too bad they don't make them anymore.
Guys I have the same Knife Bravo 1 A2 steel with choil. Strong excellent woodsman tasks Holds it edges & a little harder to sharpen then normal steel Very thick spine I’ve paired it with a Bravo EDC Would I recommend this knife yes only to the keen outdoorsman. Novice save your money buy a mora you’ll be happy I’ve been using mine for about 5/6 years now
How would you compare this to something simple like a Mora 2000 for the same work as shown in the video? Cutting ability, handling, edge retention, ease of sharpening, etc. .
I have just bought the Bravo 1, tried using it to light the fire rod with the back of the blade section....not work and chipped the steel a little. so no go on that part though it does work if you use the ramp part though im going to keep the Esee firesteel (flint version) strapped to the back of the sheath. I have also bought the bravo micro and that does indeed spark well on the fire rod :)

The Bark River Bravo 1 is so awesome I own 2 of them. It seems to do everything pretty well. I even fillet a fish with it.

great video man! I was wondering if you had any experience/thoughts on the CPM V3 steel as opposed to the A-2
@cachewild That is where I would see it to for the same reasons. Similar to the H1 from Fallkniven.
Nice video's.
Beautiful blade but hard to beat that condor bushlore when it comes to value.

Hey man, great vid. Thinking of getting this knife, but i have never experienced this steel before. What is it like to sharpen?
what type of wood were you feathering?
Love your videos. I have the bravo1 and F1. Which one is your go to today? Seems like my F1 feathers better and strikes my ferro rod so much better?

Why gloves?
Great video man!
Why gloves? 🤣 A sharp knife maybe?
@cyclist01222 True statement.
It is a bad little fuck. I own one.
Does it chop worth a crap
@VietNormbo Nope.
