I owned a boat repair shop, use a penetrate called KROIL, they make a line of penetrates that will penetrate the tightest places. I use it on boats, classic cars and aircraft. Also, replace the set screws with stainless steel bolts that are drilled for safety wire and safety wire them to prevent backing out. Very good idea for the cotter key on the prop nut. I didn't see if you put anti-seize on the prop shaft, I do. Very good job.
I have done this job many times, you were going about it the right way but were a bit under gunned with the equipment. A couple of tips are a hydraulic puller exerts more force than a mechanical one, you could do with a bigger torch to get more heat into the prop. When you have the puller wound up and a hot prop take a brass drift and a sledge hammer, put the drift on the boss of the prop on the forward side and give it a good whack with the sledge. That generally would does the trick, but sometimes takes a few heating and cooling cycles, I notice you had the nut still on the end of the thread, that's a good move as when the prop lets go it can fly off the shaft with some force if un restrained.
Yes, you are totally right, the torch was too small, the weather to cold, and the puller was a cheap one. And then I realized the propeller had to be fastened afterwarth, so in the end removing the complete shaft was the best solution.
I have this job to do end of season on my Konsort. Cannot say I'm particularly looking forward to it. Thanks for posting, you did a good job.

Thank you.😊

How to, or how not to, that is the question.
