You are a very intelligent person that can and does articulate that makes most folks envious.
Absolutely 💯 yes for DS1 sleeves!
Looking forward to Successor❗️
Looking forward to successor! Great deck review! Me want more reviews!
Also- extra protection sleeves is NEVER a bad thing.
Love those tuck flaps
The first time I ordered from Doc's playing cards, they shipped all four decks within the carat case sleeves, and I thought that was a brilliant touch; it adds further protection during shipping and can also be used to protect decks if you happen to stack them on top of each other for long periods of time... which, sadly, I must confess to doing. That said, if I have a deck in regular rotation, I do not tend to keep it in any kind of protective sleeve, because that's just one more layer between me and the prize I'm trying to get at.
I've noticed other sellers shipping their decks in these clear sleeves since then, and I do think it adds a touch of class to the whole process, even though, as I said, I don't always leave the decks in those sleeves. (However, I will often reuse those sleeves for other decks, so it's not like they go to waste!) If the sleeves don't add more than a dime or two to the cost of the deck, I'm totally on board with them!
Oh, and one last note: Sincerely, TGW, I had planned to sit this next project out because I am not as big a fan of the Standards decks as some others, but with each new tease you reveal... I'm pretty sure you've won me over. As long as I can get at least one of each deck without having to buy an entire brick, I'm in. 🙂
These are beautiful cards. Great deck review matey ☠️ 🏴☠️
the blue light is a great addition to these reviews
Where to start. Trap jaw is a he-man reference and pete Davidson is a comic/actor.
I'm a fan of sleeves because of trading cards I collect as well so all for playing cards.
I really like the colors but I agree with the white. Maybe a more cinged off white look that gradually bled to the borders, or something closer to the contraband backs just more pirate themed.
And now can we talk about your deck again!? Looks amazing and can't wait yo hear what Kevin has to say.
One primary reason for using the sleeve for me would be to protect an autograph, the outer cellophane has to be removed to use a sharpie, also some decks do not have a standard seal, so the sleeve gives that even more protection.
I use sleeves on most of my decks. Peace of mind is paramount.
The protective sleeve or any rigid case is great for ltd decks :)
I like the plastic sleeves for storing, but not for display. I would love to receive one with each deck I have. Who knows? Maybe it will become another detail for cardmakers to customize with colouring, diecut portions, or embossing.
Cant wait for the successor deck all look absolutely gorgeous from box to cards :) would love every card company use ds1 cases as see so many turning up damaged that wouldn’t of happened if had a ds1 :) took me back to childhood when mentioned trapjaw lol gorgeous deck its now on my list of decks to get :)
Want to own all of them !
I am a big user of deck sleeves. Even the smallest corner ding can affect value, so I find them to be worth the cost. Also, yes, I remember trap jaw. He was one of Skeletor’s henchmen if I am not mistaken.
Some people may be don't know but you can do good trick effect just with the celofan from the deck of cards.most of people the remove .
Definitely it is “better safe than sorry” thinking of including deck sleeve in every deck, as shipment can be rough in some countries due to many hands handling it (and some inconsiderate people). All in all, the deck itself is a pirate theme fitting for pirate lovers. Cant wait for Successor (seeing the box and that one edition makes me jiffy)
I personally would love to see more deck producers include sleeves with their decks-a fine example would be the recent Dynastinae and Treasure edition of TOTT release-the Dynastinae came with an unsightly cello wrap obviously to protect the intricate design but still ugly and my Treasure edition came with dented bottoms which may have been avoided with a sturdier sleeve in place. With regards to the Oceans Curse review, I agree with most of @TheGentlemanWake's observations, especially with regards to the back design. Perhaps a ghosted gray background silhoutte squaring off the design into a subtle frame would remove the illusion of irregularity and perhaps adding foiled details or accents would have better enhanced the back design. However, overall I feel this is a fantastic looking deck and will be a pleasure to include these in any card collection. Another splendid release from Doc's Playing Card Co.!

Oh, and while I have your attention, Mr. Wake, I realize that you have recently discovered that the correct Latin pronunciation for "Dynastinae" would be "DynastiKNEE" instead of "DynastiNAY", but I STILL want to hear you say DynastiNAYNAY on your channel. I'm sure there are other subscribers / backers who would agree.
Anyone? Click "Like" on this comment if you agree that TGW should say "Dynastinaynay" at some point on his channel! And, if you have a suggestion for how we can incentivize him to do so, reply to the comment below!
I'm thinking maybeee... I'll promise to add a couple decks to my pledge? Whaddya think?
