@@jaylee6769 100%. Body language, tonality, and facial expressions are not as absolute as Psych 101 courses makes people believe. Thinking you can truly read people will just result in you being in a psychosis. One (of many) examples in this video was when Theo spread his arms. The analysis said Theo was saying, "you can't hurt me". I doubt that. I would say it was more likely saying, "dude I have no weapon here what we doing" similar to the way we spread our arms when we surrender.
Theo bonds with people by showing his weaknesses, Bill bonds by showing his strength (witty putdowns etc). Thats why their interaction is awkward and filled with misunderstandings. Bill thinks Theo is genuinely looking for help and tries to toughen him up, while Theo thinks Bill is just looking to attack him and doesnt want to bond with him.
They're two diff generations of comic, Bill had to constantly be on his toes from ball busting at the Comedy Cellar table. Theo came up in a different time.
That's a way better explanation. Well done sir. Here's my over wordy version. But also attack op a little as he's making a narrative tha everyone has chimp like emotions and we're all about to tear eachothers genitals off. The only real description he made is re-enacting bills over reacting paranoid mind. @@caretakerrr123 Kinda in the sense that men of Bill Burr's generation (+ where he grew up) were encouraged not to show weakness. But moreso I think its just different personalities.
Here’s the thing; most people build their thoughts and emotions in order to open up and let them out in interactions and conversations with others. Bill Burr does this by himself, internalizes everything and then self talks it out and resolves it alone (i.e his podcast he only ever does alone) 😂 This allows him to have a pretty good understanding of people, but when it comes to interacting with them where they want him to open up and show that he understands, he’s not comfortable doing so, because that opens one up to emotional vulnerability. So he puts up a guard or facade which can be perceived as being dismissive or unwavering. Not saying he’s without his faults, but from everything I gather he’s extremely introverted and a control freak. Not that he needs to be in control of others, but of himself. That’s usually the best way to protect yourself from external forces.
It's funny how Bill makes fun of Theo for being in touch with his emotions, when in the reality Bill was the one showing excessive emotions, albeit only anger
This reminds me of something I read on the internet once saying (paraphrase) Men have successfully marketed women as the more emotional sex (gender?) because they rebranded anger as not an emotion...
The reality is Burr grew up with Patrice O'neal and company getting brutally attacked at the hardest comedic level one could possibly endore. So these barbs he's throwing at Theo are pretty tame considering. Imagine if Theo had Patrice sitting there.
Yeah dude i agree. I listen to mmp regularly hadnt heard of this beef before. But now watching this video and a few other clips from the podcast bills just being regular bill. I dont see what was the suppsoed beef
Patrice had a way of putting the needle on the pulse of other comics to see where they stood. Now, if Patrice WERE there, and Theo didn't get intimidated and went back at Patrice and did the back-and-forth like he does Brendan Schaub? Damn. Theo's comebacks to Patrice would've been comedic gold. And Patrice would have loved him for it.
I actually think that Bill is more cruel at heart than Patrice was. Patrice would pick on people but he was always ready to console them right there on the spot as well, he just wouldn't compromise on truth.
@@varvarvarvarvarvar Spot on. Almost like Bill has PTSD from Patrice, Charlie Murphy.. etc. and is always on the defense, so his jokes may not look like they come from the heart like Patrice,. But Patrice perfected that style. Alot of the time you can see on other podcasts, Bill catches himself and redefines his approach when he realizes he's not gonna be attacked (comedically) and starts being more sympathetic. That, and growing up a redhead with anger-issues.
Bill Burr goes after Joe Rogan harder, but Joe Rogan knows himself and is comfortable with himself, and the whole show is super entertaining because of it.
Nah, Bill was pretty condescending to this guy. That was unnecessary.. It shouldn't be so important to establish dominance. It should be more important to establish rapport..

Every time Theo is honest about his weaknesses, Bill makes fun of him for having them. This is literally how Bill's father shamed Bill as a child. After talking so much in recent years about how he wants to be different than his father, he seems to be making no effort to actually do that. Especially the anger. Bill isn't just amused ... he keeps acting personally attacked by Theo's flaws. Theo could have done what most young people do, and hide their confusion by claiming the movie sucked. But he didn't fall into that defense mechanism. He chose to be honest. This is the first step to recognizing addiction triggers and beating addiction. And Bill, as a higher status celebrity, is doing exactly the kind of damage that will discourage Theo from doing that.

@Justin 7 It's only bullying if that person is too in their own feelings to do anything but assume the role of a victim. It really is that simple. Bill talks this way to a lot of people, it only gets noticed as a negative when the person can't handle it and gets railroaded.
Bill Burr isn’t super genuine I think he’s just great at guarding his ego and he’s quick on his feet. One of my favorite comedians of all time, but if I had to sit and listen to his snarky and condescending remarks all the time I’d be as miserable as him.
Yeah I feel the same... Love Bill as a comedian but I think his ego has grown too much as his fame /body of work has also. His smug and disrespectful jibes and body language really pissed me off watching this!!!! Comedy is comedy but show a little respect at times ffs. On a podcast not a roasting show!
Yea I stopped listening to Bill. Hes the type og guy that is just rude and talks down to you back to back then when you get annoyed calls you a pansy and gets all confused
Yes. Bill has come off a bit disrespectful over the years. He has to have some type of pain to treat nice people like that? I would love it only if he released his wrath on people who are scum but don't attack Theo. Theo is a gentleman.
Bill is fun to watch on his stand up and monologues, not having a conversation. I believe he really enjoys making people feel very uncomfortable just for the sake of it. Theo handled very well in my opinion because it is disrespectful to go to someone’s place and act like that.
@@suburbanhobbyist2752 Bill's always been that way. There are 2 scales, the mean scale and the funny scale, and the trick is to always have the funny outweigh the mean. Which Bill USUALLY manages to do, but that doesn't make it not mean..
I've never seen Bill look at someone with a mean expression on his face before. For someone who spends a lot of time talking about his feelings and opening up to other interviewers about his emotions, when someone tries to do that with him you can see his face change and this cruel predatory side take over. I don't like this side of Bill.
Bill was somehow twisting Theo’s harmless conversation topics into something negative which was causing an aggressive response. Very odd with how easy he can fire back at people. Theo seemed like he just wanted to talk and have a good time.
Bill just come off a bit passive aggressive, like when the told Theo “im glad you’re in touch with your emotions” then chuckles to himself.. obviously doesn’t mean what he just said (which is congruent with the joke the editor tried to pull off on Bill basically exposing his hypocrisy) that’s basically the vibe I get here, apparently Bill gets bothered when others talk about their emotional struggles so the best he does is get irritated or condescendingly tell u to “get over that”
@Joebatain Maxx idk whats wrong wid those ppl of course hes gonna say nah it wasnt like tht so on so on... Idk if they dont have common sense or they just stupid 🤷
When people say “Bill is just not emotional.” When in fact being angry all the time is more emotion then most people. Anger is a secondary emotion. No one is “just” angry. They’re sad and angry, jealous and angry ect.. so Bills act of not being emotional is in fact extremely emotional.
"We see that Theo pushes the paper 3 mm to the north west. This together with the subtle pushes 3 and 8 minutes earlier clearly forms a triangle. Illuminati confirmed!"
Even just the suggestion that Bill pointing out body language means that he's even familiar with this type of analysis is an overstep. Most of what is pointed out seems like a reach and the analysis jumps back and forth from suggesting unconscious behavior and intentional communication. I get it, it's fun, but this is the type of thing that makes pick-up artists try to sell videos. Not everyone is trying to game people. There was a confrontation but it was 'mostly' toward trying to find a middle ground from misunderstandings, at least from what I see.
I feel like the cut at 8.05 is because Bill's phone rang, hence the "sorry" after he cancels the call. And again immediately after at 8.39 where you can see him picking up his phone, mutes it and says the same "sorry" in the same tone.
The dynamic these breakdowns miss is that sometimes a person concedes something for career gain or placating the other person to ultimately not burn a bridge. Since he and Bill run in similar circles, there’s a pressure on Theo to at least tolerate him and be diplomatic for the sake of his career.
They don't really run in the same cricles. Bill Burr was way ahead of Theo and in a different circcle altogether. The way I interpret this interaction is Bill is trying to give Theo some "tough" love so he can reach another level with his comedy and career.
Bill is from the east coast where if you love someone you “bust their balls” if you don’t like someone you don’t say much and just be nice. What you are watching is a guy from Louisiana getting some down home east coast love.
Exactly. East coast love for sure. At no point is Bill being the jerk that this RUclipsr claims. That being said, this content creator is perceptive! i guess you guys dont know a lot of people from new orleans. they can take "ball busting" all day long and not bat an eye because its nothing to them. but being in that industry, theo has to play his cards right.
I grew up in Louisiana, and I'm back here now, but graduated high school in South Jersey and spent 15 years in the Tri-state area, and our sense of humor and "ball busting" is not that different, I have lots of friends in LA that remind me of my friends from the East coast. This is more a case of a guy meeting his hero and afraid to piss him off and being submissive.
This conversation is a perfect example of two people on different wavelengths getting sick of each other within 5 minutes of meeting, this has happened to me and everyone i know, if these two gave each other a little time to get to know how they both operate they could possibly get along, but some relationships take more time than others for this exact reason, and ive read about some king that waged a war in the middle ages for this exact reason
I’m kind of the same way. I try and talk to them like I know what they’re feeling. But I can’t relate in many ways. I’m not that emotional. Only with my family, wife, and kids. Close friends also. But I’m very blunt like Bill. Sometimes people need to just suck it up since life is always going to be a struggle.
As someone else chimed in: 'just because it makes sense doesn't mean that it's true' ... however, I have to give kudos on the way in which this was broken down. There was a lot of work put into it, it makes what was a very tension-filled conversation more interesting and it opens the mind.
Well and Bill Burr is huge in the comedy game right now he can straight up make people's careers so, Theo doesnt need that of course but they're all professionals who work together, I just think Theo has more class than Bill and it showed

As a big bill burr fan I think it’s simple: bill burr was just not in the best mood that day… he took everything very seriously, like when Theo said he‘s a loner comedian, which is something even bill often jokes about himself. Instead of joking about how he is kind of like that himself he goes all serious „you should get over it“. Obviously you need to be social to succeed in any business, which I think everyone including Theo knows. Or later bill comments on how Theo has that ADD brain, although bill jumps from topic to topic all the time on his own podcast and it‘s celebrated there. Theo obviously respects Bill too much to make a fuss about it. What might have set bill off was Theo showing his vulnerable side in the beginning which is something Bill himself says is healthy, but it still makes him uncomfortable when he sees it in others because he interprets it as weakness. I think pretty much the same thing happened on h3‘s podcast. Maybe he is even somewhat jealous about how emotionally open the young up and comers can be, whereas he always had to have his guard up when he was coming up in the business, or he wants them to „toughen up“ so that they don’t get taken advantage of. TL;DR: bill bad mood -> bill don’t want to play
Spot on. Had the same thoughts. He seemed grumpy and wasn’t laughing as much as he usually does. He tries to work on that side of himself but you can’t be perfect. Takes time and many attempts. Love him but he coulda been better here. And on H3
agreed, but i also think bill was trying to be fatherly to theo, and we all know bill's idea of a father figure isnt the healthiest, and it absolutely involves tough love. bill was trying to be fatherly.
Overall Theo Came off as humble, respectful, and a nice guy.. Bill just come off a bit passive aggressive, like when the told Theo “im glad you’re in touch with your emotions” then chuckles to himself.. obviously doesn’t mean what he just said (which is congruent with the joke the editor tried to pull off on Bill basically exposing his Hypocrisy)
Yeah this is great, I just have one question, why is a lisping 5 year old annotating pop culture media with pop psychology for quacks? Is this like a new niche or something?
One thing I've noticed is that guests on the majority of podcasts show deference to the host and the format, and they confirm and affirm the host. Sometimes in the extreme. Bill broke from this. The charm of theo I think is that he's reverential and emotionally open. Arrogance will kill the vibe and is totally unwelcome in most podcast formats. The combination is destructive here.
I was talking to a younger guy while he was sitting on a bench and I was standing up. He asked me if I was trying to exert my dominance by standing up. I cracked up because it was such an absurd thing to say. I was like, Why would you think that? I just didn’t feel like sitting down. Something tells me he watches these vids.
This is like someone trying to fall asleep and thinking about every little thing that happened. This vid is like a freshman year college project where everything has such meaning.
it's satire obviously. i'm replying to every comment that does not get this. 19:20 he has a sense of humor about it and is doing extreme over-analysis (and sometimes deliberately misinterpreting body language or attributing things people say out loud to body language) on purpose. in other video he laughs randomly. it's satire.
@Dark red Bandit I'm pretty sure what he meant was, this guy is going pretty far out on a limb with his explanations. I'm sure there is a more simplistic and more obvious way to conclude the interactions displayed.
"Hey man you dropped your pen." "Clearly at this part Sean is going in for the kill, he's the instigator of the situation and it shows through his aggressive demeanor so far. He hands Paul the pen almost begrudgingly as if to let him know it wasn't out of goodwill but as a challenge to Paul's manhood! 🤔"
Theo has a softer character than Bill, so Bill would naturally find it easier to criticise Theo (particularly on his emotions) because Bill’s life circumstances may not have catered to Bills emotions as much as Theo’s life has. What I respect about Bill is that he’s honest with Theo despite the fact that he’s being confrontational he’s not concealing his opinion from Theo and does give him genuine advice at one point. In most cases where a ‘tougher’ guy interacts with a softer guy the tougher guy will just straight up disrespect the softer guy with no empathy.

Important note to keep in mind on this channel, for sure. I agree.
Completely agree
yeah I agree with this a lot. being too overanalytical over what someone is thinking is actually really dangerous
I agree. This video was almost entirely confirmation bias.
I’m drunk and it’s 4am and this is so interesting.

@@GlidgetRonana month later and you are very much welcome. I love Theo, I love bill, and I love your commentary. And I’m not drunk this time lmfao

Theo has comedic genius, bill the social bull gets comedy not from a character
But from himself reacting to the world and feels threatened when something doesn't feel right.
Theo vons comedy is all about something not feeling right his characteris all about that.
But bill feels threatened hence this podcast.

Shahaan Singh Yeah and the punchline is always that he can’t handle them. So OP is correct
Shahaan G half of his act is about not being able to handle his emotions.
THANK YOU.
Burr took a sip of water, meaning he was parched at the moment.
Lmao
Perfect. Haha.
Nicely done👍👍
Zing!
It's funny how Bill makes fun of Theo for being in touch with his emotions, when in the reality Bill was the one showing excessive emotions, albeit only anger

Yeah dude i agree. I listen to mmp regularly hadnt heard of this beef before. But now watching this video and a few other clips from the podcast bills just being regular bill. I dont see what was the suppsoed beef
Patrice was just so good at roasting other comics. He really was unstoppable… RIP

I get it, it's fun, but this is the type of thing that makes pick-up artists try to sell videos. Not everyone is trying to game people. It’s called physiology dipshit. That’s literally the purpose of the channel
this is true I became so paranoid trying to analyze every interaction I became very paranoid thinking everyone is trying to be more dominant than me so I try not to analyze anyone anymore because life is more peaceful that way.
@@GabrielRodriguez-lt9dy SOOOOO TRUE!!!!
I bet this gut gets zero ass
Theo doesn’t deserve this. They’re different styles of comedy. They’re different people. Theo is like a cousin.
Yeah I was a big fan of Bills but he is clearly trying to bully and fight with someone who does not want to fight and is trying to show you zero hostility.
@CrazySicily Bill was fine, Theo was a pussy
Bill seems like the kind of person who tries to assert dominance over everyone. Trying to take everyone down by making fun of everything they say. Whether he does it consciously or otherwise, it must be so exhausting to have someone in your life who treats you like you are the joke and minimizes everything you say by laughing about it.
@@Paag603 no, bill was throwing some mean/ somewhat true insults at him out of no where and it really wears people down. I get bill kinda does this to everyone but theo’s comedy vs bills are polar opposite and I just feel burr was being an actual asshole

“Here you see Theo look up this is how we know hes never had a decent burger.”
Theo was throwing Bill a bone by taking the easy way out and saying he didn’t understand the movie so Bill beat him over the head with it.
Thank you for the comment! 🙂
Nah Bill was really being nice, he comes from a group of savage comedians.
Nah. I love Bill because he is like that inner voice that you can’t show to the rest of the world because you aren’t ready to sacrifice every relationship you have. Theo made himself vulnerable and Bill did what savages do.
The fact that this video exists is both hilarious and awesome.
19:22 "We see Bill analyzing Theo Van's body language, without a doubt he watches my videos, LET'S GO BABY!"
Here we see Glidget Ronan's unveil his narcissism. An average person would assume that Bill simply has an understanding of body language, yet Ronan jumps to the conclusion that he is the sole reason Bill is able to make this analysis. When a narcissist is confronted with this, they will naturally try to play if off as a joke, but we can all see through his fake persona. This has been my TEDtalk, thank you.
U really just ended his whole career
This comment is SO INTERESTING TO ME because while I appreciate you are actually making a joke (and don't think Ronan actually think Bill's watching his videos) it highlights how Ronan overanalyses nearly every single one of these videos and makes far-reaching conclusions that don't hold much ground in reality. Thank you for coming to MY TedEX talk (see how I am the stronger person by reaffirming the joke, I am a high value predator)
I poop my pants 😢
Here we see someone ruining what I thought was a fun joke in an overly serious video.
He said “no ones goanna b at ur funeral” that came outta left field wtf😂😂😂
Theo: 'I have a tough time working with other people' = (I don't like other people)
Bill: 'Ok your gonna have a tough time making meaningful connections with people throughout your life' = (You'll die alone) --> small funeral
@@luchodore “I have a tough time working with others” does not translate to I don’t like people😂 but I see where u r coming from
@@ijooeyy315 alright, but it does mean he's going to have a harder time forming meaningful connections with enough people to have a large funeral
Notice how Glidget pursed his upper lip when saying "thank you for liking this video". Then goes into a state of confused panic asking for likes, comments, and subscribers. Almost out of desperation... You rock buddy!
Typical conversation between someone from the Northeast and someone from the West Coast.
And on H3
Bill Burr isn't in a good mood 365 days/year.
Bill burr is like that constantly. Usually moody
agreed, but i also think bill was trying to be fatherly to theo, and we all know bill's idea of a father figure isnt the healthiest, and it absolutely involves tough love. bill was trying to be fatherly.
Honestly bro keep em coming. I am glad RUclips recommended you to me. I will like all your vids. Keep it up

Yeah it becomes uncanny and uncomfortable.
A karmic answer would have been, "are you trying to disrespect your elder by not standing when they address you?"

@@dophie3292 Is there anything you can point out that didn't make sense that this guy analysed?
it's satire obviously. i'm replying to every comment that does not get this. 19:20 he has a sense of humor about it and is doing extreme over-analysis (and sometimes deliberately misinterpreting body language or attributing things people say out loud to body language) on purpose. in other video he laughs randomly. it's satire.
@@sams7068 it doesn’t seem satire to me, seems pretty well-done - even if half the analyses are bs, there are still many insightful points made here.
Fun fact- if you look up awkward in the dictionary there's a link to this video

Maybe slow down with the captions a tiny bit, I felt like i was chasing them haha. :)
you went over three types of smiles when he's just teasing Theo about being in touch with his feelings
I've never been more uncomfortable yet entertained at the same time. Your videos make me feel insecure and vulnerable.
I don't understand why people come watch an analysis channel's video then comment about him overanalyzing...that's the point.
No, we came for a certain level of analysis.
@Dark red Bandit I'm pretty sure what he meant was, this guy is going pretty far out on a limb with his explanations. I'm sure there is a more simplistic and more obvious way to conclude the interactions displayed.
It’s a bad analysis

Theo also has said Bill was very different off and on camera.
Lmao true.
"Hey man you dropped your pen."
"Clearly at this part Sean is going in for the kill, he's the instigator of the situation and it shows through his aggressive demeanor so far. He hands Paul the pen almost begrudgingly as if to let him know it wasn't out of goodwill but as a challenge to Paul's manhood! 🤔"
You're grasping at so many straws here it's insane. 😂
I love when Rent-a-Jamie tries to throw shade.
Edward Hawkins has he done it other times? I thought the narrator was offbase here, Nick scored a point in Theos defense
