- You can use a Ceramic on your car's interior? Yup.
In this podcast, Nick and Yvan discuss frequently asked questions about DIY Detail Interior Ceramic, which utilizes technology to seal the surface and increase surface tension, creating a surface with increased stain resistance and less wear and tear. It's safe on carpets, leather, vinyl, alcantara, piano trim...the list goes on. (Shoes, anyone?)

I applied DIY’s Interior Ceramic to probably every nook and cranny inside my few days old Model Y black interior. Cleaning the interior is super easy now n days, I get a lil carried away and still apply it every 2 weeks on front seats, dash & screen, but to be honest there’s no need. I just received the Ceramic Gloss and can’t wait to use it tomorrow. Keep up the videos Nick & Ivan, can’t get enough of em
Thank you! Let us know how you like the DIY Detail Ceramic Gloss
I’ve applied in the same technique already. Love it. It’s on the garage queen. Spray on carpet. Applicator on everything else. Gotta do the infotainment screen.
Happy you like it!
I love this podcast series. My favorite part of the week!
Glad you enjoy it!
One of the best detail products I have ever used!
Thank you.
"Binnacle"? Wow, Yvan has a secret life as a sailor! Next week we'll be polishing the starboard cleats. Great video guys! Really appreciate the how-to and FAQ format.
Thanks for watching!
Fully agree with the use an applicator approach, but can't make myself use the full sized block. I've had great success with the mini and finger mitt saver applicators - easier to get into tight spaces, use less product by keeping it on the surface of the applicator, and they are washable and reusable.
Great tip!
Definitely a gem of a product which I need to order more of. Protecting the carpets does use more as does the headliner. Interior ceramics use to darken the leather but this product does not which makes life easier. Thank you for the video!
Thank you.
Excellent! Thanks for the great education!
Glad it was helpful!
While simple, I would love to see a video/short on what microfiber cloths (Waffle/short nap/twist loop) you guys personally use and what's best for each application like windows, exterior, wheels etc!
Great suggestion!
Excellent product. Does a great job at keeping the dash dust free. Easy maintenance with the interior detailer.
Thank you
Word of the Day: “Binnacle: a container for instruments in an automobile dashboard.” Never heard of that before.
Surprising
This podcast is awesome! It provides a helpful resource for better understanding interior ceramic design and DIY projects.
Glad you think so!
@@diydetailofficial Hey Yvan and Nick! Are you ever on the lookout for guests on your RUclips channel?
Yes, contact nick@diydetail.com

This is a great product! Makes the interior look new again. I will definitely buy this again!
You’ve used it on interiors?
@@diydetailofficial The interior ceramic spray.
I have ordered this and cannot wait to apply
Thanks
These vids are just as fun as the products
Thank you
I got my bottles in today! Along with the gallon of rinseless wash, and two gold standard.
Sweet!
I can feel Nick’s love for Tesla’s white vegan leather 😂..I applied leather protection as soon as I got the car. So it hasn’t brought the stain from my jeans onto the seats (yet)
Nice!!
Waiting for payday to buy some of these products. I’m pretty exited to try them out.
Thank you
Can MF towels and applicators used to apply this product be washed and reused or should they be tossed?
If you soak them in APC or detergent immediately after use you may be able to save them.
How am I missing these videos awesome explanation and my questions were answers how long do I wait to reply
Re-apply when you feel the need, on heavy use areas, every 6 months is a good target.
I applied Art De Shine last year but at a much higher cost. This looks so much easier to apply and much more affordable. A wash and also Prep Spray to remove existing protection do you figure? Would love to try this out
Yep, you definitely should -- it's super easy to apply!
Anyway we can get some alcantera cleaning examples? Would be awesome!
Good idea.
So once leather seats have been coated in Interior Ceramic is there not a need for a leather conditioner? I've always been one to wipe the interior completely down with an interior detailer biweekly and every 6 months apply leather conditioner to leather surfaces. Where does leather conditioning fit into the routine?
You can if you want, but it’s really not required
Can you apply DYI's Interior Ceramic after you clean interior with DYI's Interior Clean and Protect?
Yes
After cleaning with interior clean and protect how long is best to wait to start the interior ceramic coating process?
No need to wait for plastic, for cloth and carpet, wait until it’s dry.
Yvan & Nick. Being a ceramic. What is the active ingredient? Also when applying to cloth seats do you just spray it on and walk away or spray and rub? This is my next order I believe.
Rub on , level and enjoy.
To re-apply a coat of interior ceramic , do you recommend panel prep or just wipe with rinse less? Thanks guys 🙏🏻
Wipe with Rinseless.
Could you use Interior clean & protect
and then Interior Ceramic? If so how long should you wait inbetween doing so? Instead of panel prep?
Yes, no need to wait.
Greetings DIY Detail Team,
I use Leatherique to condition the Nappa leather in my BMW. Is it safe to apply the DIY Interior Ceramic Coating over Leatherique or any other leather conditioning product application?
No, the coating will not adhere to
Can you apply over interior detailer like carpro inner qd or other interior detailer or not necessary to use both?
The DIY Detail Interior Ceramic Coating is not a cleaner, but true ceramic protection for your interior.
Do you use panel Prep on the cluster and infotainment screen?
No
Would you spray directly on fabric seats? I’m a little worried about the overspray
You can spray into a short hair brush and apply that way.
will this prevent or help prevent smudges from shoes on plastics of truck doors? I'm interested in kick panel area protection as well as the usual dash maintenance and cleaning.
It will help reduce, but not prevent.
@@diydetailofficial could a more robust exterior ceramic coating, one that's ok for plastic, be used on a door kick panel area?
What is the best way to maintain and clean after this is applied ?
DIY Detail Interior Clean & Protect
Should you do interior and protect then ceramic coat it if my interior dirty?
That works
What's the recommended way to maintain an interior coated with the Interior Ceramic without diminishing it - Rinseless Wash or Clean & Protect?
Your choice really, but DIY Detail Interior Clean & Protect will give you a bit of an edge.
What is the smell like on this Interior Ceramic? and One thing I do not think was covered, is AFTER application, the best or recommended method to do interior maintenance?
It has a chemical smell that goes away once cured( 1 hour). DIY Detail Interior Clean & Protect or DIY Detail Rinseless Wash for maintenance.
Does it protect against light scratches/abrasions on leather, the usual wear and tear?
Very little, more for protection against stains.
is ceramic interior safe to use in conjunction w/ interior clean & protect? if so, what would your routine/frequency suggestion be between panel prep, ceramic interior and interior clean & protect? thanks
Once DIY Detail Interior Ceramic Coating is installed maintain with DIY Detail Interior Clean & Protect as needed
I have a few question.
1) Should I use rinseless wash or clean & protect before interior ceramic?
2) if I use clean & protect, do I need to use panel prep before interior ceramic?
3) Does clean & protect affect the bonding of interior ceramic and reduces interior ceramic durability / longevity?
Your choice, but if you have both available use DIY Detail Rinseless Wash.
What is the application process if you have cloth seats? spray on seat and use a brush? or just wipe with microfiber ?
A brush is best.
@@diydetailofficial 😊 thanks
Is it enough to use panel prep if my interior was coated before using Turtle wax hybrid ceramic graphene inside job? Love your products but yet to use interior ceramic
Yes
What grey towel were you using to knock down the high spots?
Pearl weave
I don’t know how often I’d use this product, how long does it take for it to go bad?
A couple of years
Seems like a great product, but the price keeps me from buying. Every time I break down and accept the price ($50 a bottle) and go to buy, the shipping kicks me back to not buying. $16 for shipping makes this a $66 bottle. With no other real place to buy (a single seller on amazon has it for $60), i find myself looking for alternate products. Think of the sales if this was a $35 product....
You’ll be able to do quite a few cars with just one bottle, so there’s great value once you have the 16 oz bottle in hand. We also offer free shipping once your cart is $150. Keep us in mind in the future 😀
Is interior ceramic anti static? Does it prevent dust from sticking to the surfaces?
Yes it is
What would be the best maintenance cleaner after applying interior ceramic? Like Maybe after a month, you wanna do a quick clean on the inside, what would be the best product for that.
DIY Detail Interior Clean & Protect
@@diydetailofficial Thank you!!
Do you clean the infotainment screen with panel prep as well?
You sure can!
I don’t see anything called Panel Prep in your line up. Is it called some thing else?

@diydetailofficial :
New car and just learned about interior ceramic coating. I got some diy detail interior ceramic and did the car this past weekend. Worked great!
I just picked up a new adhesive magnet mount for my phone and I stuck it to the vinyl dash, but after 3min of holding it in place tight, it just peeled right off. I guess this interior ceramic really works! (I know some people dont like adhesive mounts, but this will be my 4th car with them and i really like it)
So what I need to do next is remove the coating from just this small 2x3in section so I can put the mount on and then re-coat next to it.
What's the best way to do this without damaging the vinyl on the dash?
Use some polish on a MF towel, abrasion is the only way to remove it.
@@diydetailofficial great! I don't have polish yet. I've only got the ceramic coating, clean and protect (green label) and label prep. What do I need to buy?
@@lancekeltner2625I would suggest their polish, the gold standard. Some polishes contain harsher solvents and may damage, the gold standard does not.
How long should you let Interior Ceramic dry on cloth seats?
1 hour
Does this product ruin your microfiber towels like a paint coating?
Just put it in a bucket of rinseless wash and soak for an hour after use. Then go ahead and wash the towel with your towel load 👍
I already applied DIY Interior Clean and Protect and cleaned/applied leather conditioner in my seats, Can I still use the DIY Interior Ceramic on top of that?
You will need to remove the leather conditioner
@@diydetailofficial thanks so much for the response.
Quick one, If the end result after application is silky/ sliding feel isn't that a bit dangerous when applied on the steering wheel?
It doesn’t change the feel in any way.
@@diydetailofficial Ok, was a bit confused when you guys mentioned when applied to the leather seats that you can feel them being a bit more silky and sliding.... so my logic meade me ask if the same will happen with the steering wheel. Will test and report back!
Silky and soft.
Hi I have a question, please respond. The liquid in the bottle, is it clear? Or kinda white cloudy liquid? Because I bought mine from Autoforge and the liquid is not see through clear. I just want to make sure
The new version is milky
@@diydetailofficialoh awesome. Thank you 🙏🏽
Is this interior coating a nano coating or a water based sio2 coating?
Si02 and nano are 2 terms for the same thing.
How does this compare to pro interior coatings?
It is a pro grade coating, not just saying that. It’s super legit, you can smell it even … ruclips.net/video/6whWR9udqQs/видео.html
Ooops never mind, I heard Yvan say it can be used on Alcantera.
No problem
Can we apply this to the roof, insider one?
Yes
Do I need to use mechanical polishing to remove ceramic from interior before changing products or reapplying?
How do I prep for reapplication of interior ceramic coating
Simply wash and apply.
lol thanks
Kind of figured there must be other methods
Than with exterior paint ceramic coat removal
Correct
I applied to my cars interior about a month ago. I now want to have parts of my dash upholstered with Alcantara. What is the best chemical and process to remove the ceramic so the adhesive for the Alcantara will properly bond? Thanks!
Abrasive
How abrasive? Do I need to wet sand it? Or is vigorously scrubbing with a microfiber towel and using an interior cleaner like P&S Express and an adequate option? Thanks.
Use a compound on a MF towel. If you don’t plan on removing it at all future date, use sand paper.
Is it actually safe for human health to apply this on parts that we touch constantly? Like on steering wheel and gear shift?
Yes, once cured it’s inert
What would be a good starting price to market an Interior Ceramic?
$199
@@diydetailofficial thank you!
What about whether tech floor mats?
Yes, great on those
So what do you tell customers that want the seatbelt clean and sanitized?
Do it yourself, we can not assume the liability
Just wish it wasn't 80 canadian a bottle
It’s enough to protect 4-5 cars
Can I use the interior ceramic on Alcantera?
Yes
Thanks guys, finally have your products in Australia. Looks like the interior ceramic bottle could last a while even if applying every 6 months to high traffic areas. Does interior ceramic have a shelf life after it is opened?
No shelf life, just make sure that you close the tip of the sprayer to prevent evaporation
Will this change the feel of my Alcántara ?
It will improve it since it won’t get dirty an matted down as quickly.
Can you ceramic coat tires or is that just a stupid question?
Some companies offer a ceramic infused tire shine
@@diydetailofficial what do you recommend?

What about Alcantara steering wheels?
All good I jumped the gun...
Thanks for the question.
This is a decent product but for 50 dollars I would rather get gyeon or gtechniq interior ceramic
Thanks
LOL, does it bead ? I do not want that much water or beverages spilled inside to see any beading! As noted this concept of ‘ceramic’ is for ease of cleaning and resistance to soiling..
Thank you!
I live in South Florida and have a vehicle that is parked outside 24/7, so UV protection to help prevent fading and cracking is very important. 303 Aerospace Protectant has always been my go to for UV protection on plastic/vinyl trim. Would a ceramic based product provide superior UV protection for interior plastics/vinyl?
A few things, first yes DIY Detail Interior Ceramic Coating will protect, and for much longer.
Secondly, unless you drive a convertible, or leave your windows open all the time there’s actually litte UV getting in your vehicle. Automotive glass blocks almost all UVA rays and a high percentage of UVB. Protection is never a bad thing, but it’s not as critical as some marketing will have you believe.
No products will protect your interior unless its seat covers . Windshield visors or high quality window tint. No special juice will cure your interior from being damaged. But you can drink all the koolaid in the world and believe it.
What is average price thr pros charge for rhis?
3-500$
@@diydetailofficial 😱
Can you dress an engine bay with Interior Ceramic?
Yes
How do you apply this product to cloth seats?
Spray evenly on a clean seat (use the wide spray), agitate it in evenly with a brush or even a towel if that's all you've got. Let it dry. Wait an hour if you want to apply a second layer
Just received a bottle of your interior ceramic and have to say this product has a nasty smell to it! I'm not debating interior ceramic benefits and realize are many other companies selling similar products, but this stuff should come with serious warnings on the packaging to wear not only hand protection,
but a respirator. SiO2 is not kind to our lungs, and is not only a risk to the detailer, but to the vehicle owner/family with off gassing for days afterwards. And I think companies that market their products to DIYers, not professionals, have an even larger responsibility to ensure safety, or at least give reasonable warnings.
The odour dissipates within 30 mins. As for breathing it in, in a well ventilated room, and using an applicator will greatly reduce the odour.
Are there long term health risks when using ceramic/sio2 chemicals like this frequently as a detailer?
First!
Congratulations, you beat Humberto, that take skill!
@@diydetailofficial I needed to be quick-on-the-draw. It doesn’t happen often, Humberto is still first comment king. ✊
Just did this on my car the other day, getting it dialed in prior to sale… did it also previously on my wife’s Edge ST. I love the way my interior looks, and the ease of clean. Really makes the interior pop. 🧈 the bang for buck on this product is amazing. I’ve done three full interiors and I’ve used about 3 ounces of product.🧃
Love it!
Is all clean a good option for panel prep?
It can be used for that, I would dilute it 20:1 then wipe with DIY Detail Rinseless Wash to remove any All Clean residue.
