It definitely feels like us lore nerds have been left out in the cold just getting table scraps (waypoint updates, small audio stories) here and there. It sucks seeing the "multiplayer focused" plan go full steam ahead. Great video as always man 👍 Also I was cracking up at the forklift bits 🤣
Aw man. Verbatim what i said to my buddy when cu29 launched " man last season we got prism and forbidden. And before that we got forest and cliffhanger. All interesting layouts and beautiful aesthetics. Now they give us illusion which is nothing more or less than a 3 lane map with a gimmick and it looks aesthetically like recharge and Aquarius combined"
the halo community never fails to make me laugh. you all keep complaining about whatever current halo game they made, but then turn around and act like their next creation can 'save the halo community'. Its been over 10 years of tolerating their sloppy games. Each game is subpar at best. Learn to accept these developers just dont have what it takes to make a solid game.
I won't lie, the incredibly faint praise in even just the positive sections are damning to me? Most of the positive reviews that aren't delusional nonsense make me wonder why people installed this software, never mind pay money on it!
I agree with everything except the notion that the store is funding the next Halo project, that would Microsoft, as they alone are responsible for its funding, and they have no excuse given the money they are willing to throw around. That being said the only favors the store is likely doing for 343 is convincing Microsoft that another Halo game with a focus on even more paid cosmetic items.
I want their next game to not be a mainline game. I feel sick of the hyper-focus on spartans that 343 has been on the entire time they've been developing halo. Give me something from a marine's perspective, the covenant's perspective (or I guess the Banished now), or hell maybe an Aliens vs Predator type game where you can play the UNSC, Banished, and Flood in separate campaigns and a mixed multiplayer Also I really don't like how bulbous the forge covenant models look. It's weird, and makes me feel like all the props put on weight or something lol
Asking 343 to not fuck up the launch of Halo is like asking Mac Jones to bring the Patriots to the Super Bowl... You can't just lose your GOAT quarter back and expect to be the same team. You certainly can't do it if the entire coaching staff and players all quit except for the kicker.
I like doing multiplayer campaign with my mate, we tried to play co-op campaign for infintie on PC and it was absolutely unplayable, so frustrating so we both stop after 30 mins and never went back. They need to sort this out.
Its clear it was supposed to be a season, but they lost their gameplay lead so they couldn't finish the new shotgun and falcon. Then Microsoft made them make a bunch of store items.
The mark 4 armor is a complete waste, if it wasn't for cross core. They got out the concept art armors they finally decided ok. But wheres the halo wars second shoulderpad, wheres its iconic peices, they didn't even do any halo legends stuff, port daisy's teddy onto it or do a Jerome coating with alternate stripe colours?. I like that challenges have changed to push firefight though, like I'm happy as hell with that, as I hate the sweaty mess of pvp.
What I hate about the battlepasses is that you can’t even switch between them for free, like if you barely played any of the previous seasons/operations, it’s like Microsoft and 343 saying, “Oh well, better luck next time!”
Great menu background, crosscore Shoulders, better weekly rewards, fun map, badass Mk4 armor, and the Evolved AR are the bright spots of CU29 for me. Scrapping S6 in favor of dumping 96% of the armor into the shop is ridiculous. Imagine getting that armor by doing challenges or unlocking career ranks. Absurd I know, it’s not like that proved successful in other halo titles. It’s just disappointing. For the few things 343 can do right, they find mind numbing ways to fricc it up what should be a decent update.
Hello, new time viewer, long time fan of Halo. I enjoyed your critique on the recent developments of Halo Infinite, and I feel that your thought process throughout the video was clear and concise. Though I believe in your idea that Halo Infinite should act as a lesson learned (considering the fact they're working on a new game and potentially slowing down production on Infinite), I find it hard to believe that Halo Infinite wasn't SUPPOSED TO BE that "Learned Lesson" after some of the most controversial installments in the franchise. Halo infinite was advertised as a "return to form" on the core gameplay/content we as a community have been harping on for years. And yet, what did we get? Just about the same live service and commitment to its IP as Halo 4 and 5, only this time, they dangled the nostalgia of older (mostly Halo Reach) aesthetics in some vain attempt to get as many people on this Game at Launch, without working on its bland and saturated design/color scheme, its complete lack of any content at launch, its arguably linear gameplay loop, some awful matchmaking and server integrity, the list goes on. And yet while we were in the trenches hoping for some new big content in the first year, all we got were cosmetics in the shop (where you spend money) and the Battlepass (where you spend money). I get that not all developer teams working on the game work on the same thing; I'm sure they have a specific team that oversees the development of the battlepass and shop. Also, its not fair to assume programming and implementing new maps, modes, and ui features is easy. However, you don't have to be in the developer studio to know that its a bad look when you add 5 new shop items and a new battlepass without doing anything for the core gameplay/experience. Yes, they did eventually give us (some of) what we were begging for in Infinite, but just like Halo 5, it was too little, too late; 343 made their intentions very clear with how they did damage control within the first year. Its probably important to add that there's a good chance this game is no longer for players that enjoy the progression of one's character through gameplay anymore, that they wanna focus on the demographic that has the deepest pockets or the taller soapbox to cry out their frustrations from. It's no longer about the experience and more about how to make people sit for the whole experience you've created, and if that's the case then I'm not gonna sit for another yearly "Halo" experience. I hope with everything I'm wrong about their next game, and that it'll be everything we've been dreaming a modern Halo would be since HALO: REACH. But I'm smart enough to know that's not gonna happen until we all as a community are made aware of 343's intentions with the franchise as a whole. But since certain groups in the community are pandered to in certain aspects, I doubt we can find common ground unless we get another Pay To Win mechanic in a PvE mode like in Halo 5 lol. P.S. The end of your video where you described how jarring the three games are from one another, it reminded me of how chaotic and confusing the Sequel Trilogy of Star Wars and I can't help but notice the similarities. Studios making a sequel to a beloved franchise without having much of an idea of what made it so good in the first place, a complete departure from it's original form for nothing more than to just sell merchandise.
Anything that doesn't bring us back to the Good Old Days is a disappointment. I'm not touching halo before we have pre-post game lobbies with proximity chat with the company's focus on making the game a fun social shooter. Rather than a full on monetized esports with other unwanted formula changes (F2P model, multiplayer story, battlepasses...)
Always good to see another Larden vid. I feel the same way on all counts. Hope Halo 7 is the good one, but I’m not holding my breath. Shame to see Infinite winding down because it’s really killed my motivation to keep forging.
When I first heard that Halo Infinite was going to be around for 10 years, at first I was like how? Now, I feel like it makes sense. If there was a 7 year gap between Halo 5 and Infinite, adding 3 more years to (hopefully) make the next BIG Halo game PERFECT, makes some sense. However, that supposedly will be about 7 years from now... I'll be 32... Jesus Christ....
Nice video mate, I wish I could be keen for another halo. But after a good start with the campaign and falling flat with the multiplayer & the battle pass. They are gonna need to work twice as hard to convince me getting into another title, especially if its gonna cost upwards of a $100
Here at 12:00 this is why I DO not mind giving my money to these expensive ass armor! As a halo fan I want 343 to make new projects and games for us in the future. This FREE game isn’t probably not making enough money for them so that’s why I don’t mind the shop being a little more expensive… yes 50 freaking dollars for a bundle is crazy but I mean Warzone does it! And it’s a free to play game
Honestly, I am just going to make a halo 7 game myself. Or at least the outline/details of it's content. hopefully 343's is better but I seriously doubt it. halo 7: a soldier's tale (it's a mimic of "A Soldier's Tale: Rain Forest Wars" from Ghosts of Onyx)
This has to be one of your best videos. Between the forklift bit, the conciseness of your points and overall message, the editing, the back and forth between critique and suggestions for 343, between serious discussion and cutting to your spartan doing a comedic bit ingame, and ending on a hopeful but realistic note, this video is fantastic and kept my monke brain engaged every second. Good work!
Just think, if 343 has been working on a new game since 2022, there’s going to be years worth of material to throw away before they build the new game 10 months before launch. That way we can pay full price for something unfinished.
I fucking hate Halo infinite. Its a dead cash grab game with fuck load of cosmetics that add nothing to gameplay. With so much cut content of weapons and vehicles. No playable elites means no invasion. Man fuck 343!
I hate how they're doing the operations All they had to do was keep it as a 50 tier pass or even 20 tier pass, just fill it with one or two armor sets. Hope they hear the outcry and fix this shit
I'm glad that Infinite finally gets some good looking cosmetics that actually look like Halo stuff. And it was about time we got a multiplayer PvE mode. But it's still too late, I'm burn out of 343I's Halo.
No you shouldn't. Life is a gift. Even if you are tortured by a franchise you love with content you might hate. Keep playing. Enjoy the stuff you play and try not to think to much about all the stuff that's going wrong. Since a couple of keeps I avoid Multiplayer and only play custom games. Some of them are fun... If I am able to join and no server disconnect kicks me from my own game.
My faith in the studio is so slim nowadays. The potential of this game was there. But there were too many hands in the pot for so few focus points to make this game. All the content we have now has been an afterthought from the get go. Tell me, what was the first grand thing they did with this game after launch? That's where their mindset will always be.
They created the best core To then can the season pass and release all the armour from it on the store all at once Then only have 1 new dev map Season 5 brought us up for cu(m) 29 to bring us down I do find it pretty hilarious after 2 years we still don’t have assault thus grifball is still not possible. But the new management is great right guys?
I don’t think infinite is over yet. I will say that this update was a little bit underwhelming But the mark IV armor is Absolutely incredible. Some of them new maps are really really fun. And the forklift is absolutely hilarious. Unfortunately, it does lack A problematic amount of content. Worse yet the shop is broken once again with prices rising exponentially. I’m not too much of a fan of seasonality or content updates honestly But with the severe lack of content in this update, It feels like we might be regressing a little, though I am still holding out. Hope that 343 can get their act together under pier Hintz.
To be honest, I do not like any of the sets 343 designed. They quite don't fit the mark IV core. Like a lot of times, 343 doesn't get the design right. To be fair, they had a lot of W with infinite regarding design choices, but also a couple times L
Honestly hearing that they're done with Infinite and moving on to the next project just killed all my interest in spending any time in the game. Learned my lesson, never spend money in these live service games.
You'll also be happy to know that my weekly review for each episode of the Halo TV show will be returning starting from tomorrow. So, get around it.

It definitely feels like us lore nerds have been left out in the cold just getting table scraps (waypoint updates, small audio stories) here and there. It sucks seeing the "multiplayer focused" plan go full steam ahead. Great video as always man 👍
Also I was cracking up at the forklift bits 🤣
I'm sorry but this update is so weak, they have so much finished content in the files and they don't release it.
Honey wake up, a new Laper Larden video dropped
So basically It’s probably better to play Master Chief Collection is what I’m getting at
To be honest , the thumbnail if this video made laugh so hard .
I love your thumbnails man , funny as always
Yeah 343i sucks. They have absolutely no idea how to handle Halo, even after 12 years. 343 couldn't even bring back the deathcam correctly.
I won't lie, the incredibly faint praise in even just the positive sections are damning to me?
Most of the positive reviews that aren't delusional nonsense make me wonder why people installed this software, never mind pay money on it!
When 95% of the update is just cosmetics, it's hard to be excited about it. No new weapons, no new vehicles, no new gamemodes, and only 1 new map.
343 Shitdustries on their way to add a 38 us dollar bundle to the shop: 🤑🤑🤡🤡
Like seriously what the fuck
Halo devs don't know their own engine anymore, the future of halo will be on the unreal engine.
Your videos never fail to make me laugh man 😂 love it!
That would be cool if Halo 7 came out and it was actually good, but nahhhh because 343.
😂😂😂
So true
I want their next game to not be a mainline game. I feel sick of the hyper-focus on spartans that 343 has been on the entire time they've been developing halo. Give me something from a marine's perspective, the covenant's perspective (or I guess the Banished now), or hell maybe an Aliens vs Predator type game where you can play the UNSC, Banished, and Flood in separate campaigns and a mixed multiplayer
Also I really don't like how bulbous the forge covenant models look. It's weird, and makes me feel like all the props put on weight or something lol
I have no confidence in 343 for what comes next
Asking 343 to not fuck up the launch of Halo is like asking Mac Jones to bring the Patriots to the Super Bowl... You can't just lose your GOAT quarter back and expect to be the same team. You certainly can't do it if the entire coaching staff and players all quit except for the kicker.
This comment makes me wish I watched American Football to understand the metaphor.
awesome video, with great humour included, at the end, asking to subscribe, just the way you did it convinced me instantly
IT WORKED! Congratulations, you are now forklift certified.
Thanks again for keeping it real, Laper. Love your stuff and really appreciate your voice and the above and beyond effort you put into your videos.
My pleasure!
W take on the new Cosmetic update 29 👍
Studios making a sequel to a beloved franchise without having much of an idea of what made it so good in the first place, a complete departure from it's original form for nothing more than to just sell merchandise.
there was a leak a week ago saying that Creative Assembly is working on Halo Wars 3.
Me want Halo Wars 3 now
Always good to see another Larden vid.
I feel the same way on all counts.
Hope Halo 7 is the good one, but I’m not holding my breath.
Shame to see Infinite winding down because it’s really killed my motivation to keep forging.
Well even if this new ‘content update’ isn’t good, at least we got a good LaperLarden video out of it.😅
They put the entire battle pass in the shop
When I first heard that Halo Infinite was going to be around for 10 years, at first I was like how? Now, I feel like it makes sense. If there was a 7 year gap between Halo 5 and Infinite, adding 3 more years to (hopefully) make the next BIG Halo game PERFECT, makes some sense. However, that supposedly will be about 7 years from now... I'll be 32...
Jesus Christ....
Sandbox team does not exist right now for infinite, from what I heard
No Audio Director either. Which is probably why they can't finish any of these new vehicles and weapons. They haven't got anyone to do the sounds!
How did you get the Halo 2 background menu? 13:09
Steam workshop mods, my friend!
my dad is forklift certified
Nice video mate, I wish I could be keen for another halo. But after a good start with the campaign and falling flat with the multiplayer & the battle pass. They are gonna need to work twice as hard to convince me getting into another title, especially if its gonna cost upwards of a $100
Couldn't agree more.
Good work!
2:10 i didn't even dare finish season 4 lol
What was the song for the forklift intro?
'Freaked Out' from the first Halo Wars Soundtrack.
I hate how they're doing the operations
All they had to do was keep it as a 50 tier pass or even 20 tier pass, just fill it with one or two armor sets. Hope they hear the outcry and fix this shit
I like it when they add more attachments I can waste money on for my funny guy in funny armor. New maps are cool too.
I'm glad that Infinite finally gets some good looking cosmetics that actually look like Halo stuff. And it was about time we got a multiplayer PvE mode. But it's still too late, I'm burn out of 343I's Halo.
That seems to be the general consensus with a lot of folks.
Should I rage quit life because I still like and play Halo, yes or no?
No you shouldn't.
Life is a gift. Even if you are tortured by a franchise you love with content you might hate.
Keep playing. Enjoy the stuff you play and try not to think to much about all the stuff that's going wrong.
Since a couple of keeps I avoid Multiplayer and only play custom games. Some of them are fun... If I am able to join and no server disconnect kicks me from my own game.
Quit Halo. Shit franchise now. Life has way more value than a neutered fps game.
My faith in the studio is so slim nowadays. The potential of this game was there. But there were too many hands in the pot for so few focus points to make this game. All the content we have now has been an afterthought from the get go. Tell me, what was the first grand thing they did with this game after launch? That's where their mindset will always be.
Clean video and hits on all the points. 👍
Appreciate it!
Mkiv’s coatings are just mkvii’s coatings moved over that’s why
They created the best core
To then can the season pass and release all the armour from it on the store all at once
Then only have 1 new dev map
Season 5 brought us up for cu(m) 29 to bring us down
I do find it pretty hilarious after 2 years we still don’t have assault thus grifball is still not possible.
But the new management is great right guys?
I only have one must from this next halo game. ADD COUCH CO-OP PLEASE
great vid as always!
Appreciate that!
I need some kind of investment in this game for it to leave me disappointed. Other than dropping in I haven't played since a month after launch.
That vsauce call out 😂
The mark 4 goes hard if you are willing to give 343 money
Goes hard as-is
To be honest, I do not like any of the sets 343 designed.
They quite don't fit the mark IV core.
Like a lot of times, 343 doesn't get the design right. To be fair, they had a lot of W with infinite regarding design choices, but also a couple times L
I'm simply just not playing this season. It's price gouging at this point. I have far better ways to spend my time and money.
yes
I'm old and out of touch ... but people wait for updates to come out so they can spend real money... it's crazy....
The game desperately needed a few new weapons or the Falcon still missing the last two reach helmets Operator and Military Police
Mr Larden, you are so cooked with this video
Illusion could have been a covenant map.
Honestly hearing that they're done with Infinite and moving on to the next project just killed all my interest in spending any time in the game. Learned my lesson, never spend money in these live service games.
There has been 1 weapon added too this game since 2021 unless you include the sandwich lol
343i Using the only aspect of Halo that I still care about to try and sell me slop for a mediocre game is a new low for Halo
It is after today. No new featured playlist
