These people will need so much help, Brazil will not be able to do this on their own. Why am I not hearing about foreign aid being sent? From Canada, we went to help in New Orleans after Katrina, even the wealthy USA was needing help, know that the suffering has only begun here.
It will be achieved with unity, everyone is committed to helping, poor, rich, north, south, unknown and famous, what's more, the National Congress has already recognized a state of war in the region, that is, can spend as much as necessary.
Uruguay and Argentina and other neighboring countries offered help
Uruguay and Argentina are the two closest countries
Trust me Brazil has enough money and resources to deal with it, the issue is the government corruption that steals from people
I actually think we can make it. Obvously help is always well received and will always be, but we do care for each other, and as far as Im seeing, people here are doing even more than the government. Our union will make our peace
As a Brazilian, I never imagined seeing the State of Rio Grande do Sul ( Big River Southern) Flooded like that.😢

@@jlennertz4018 You’re Welcome.
Regrettably, many families have suffered losses of loved ones, pets, homes, shops, factories, farms, crops, and more. Entire small cities with populations of 20,000 to 30,000 residents have been entirely wiped out. These communities were ill-prepared for this massive disaster, receiving evacuation warnings too late.
We have an ineffective government that heavily focuses on collecting taxes for personal gain.
In times of crisis, their response and actions are delayed, fortunately there are proactive individuals who successfully rescue and provide refuge for those in need. 😢
I live here in Rio grande bo soul and it is horrible what is happening here, about 300 cities are submerged in water thousands of people without homes, food, water and clothes, it has already been 5 days since the flooding and the government hasn't even sent anyone, the people from other cities are only ones who are helping, and giving donations, people are getting their own boats and jet skis, and are saying the most people they can but too many people are trapped on their roofs and even on trees, so many people are dying from The cold. thousands of people have died. and now they have found crocodiles in the water so it is too dangerous to swim and yet the government isn't even helping, There is no way to describe how horrible the situation is here.
I live here too. Crocodiles . . . interesting. Gaúchos are proud. We will survive. There are reasons for our revolutions to be a sovereign country. Most of all search/rescue is Gaúcho and volunteers. All the politicians and foreign countries talk big but when they could demonstrate their humanity in a real-world situation

The Rio Grande do Sul state is governed by the neolibs for as long as I can remember. The governor in charge relaxed environment standards and allowed mass deflorastation. And didn't allocate any money for infrastructe upkeep and flood prevention. He "saved" millions of dollars and now he will have to spend billions.

@moozkoi OK. You're Brazilian, so it is true.
Its not true, Im pretty sure Im way more educated in geography than you. It happened in 1940's too, and it also wasnt deforestation problem. The main issue here is the amount of rain coming from the so called flying rivers, mainly due to El Nino activity, that takes away the low pressure zone on the amazon to the pacific, which increases the rain coming from the north air masses. Political ideas have NOTHING to do with it, you are just trying to justify your political position through an ambiental disaster, and that my friend, is ridiculous

South america still has lots of land they should move inland and build thier not next to the sea.
The government took a long time to help Rio Grande do Sul. they were more worried about football... even the horse that was saved by the firefighters, the 1st lady said that it was the government that saved it and even insisted on saying that the horse was a mare and as a woman it was strong and blah blah blah. When in fact, it is a horse and not a mare. The government is trying to cover up what is happening in the south for the rest of Brazil. claiming it's not that big. and amazing! the government minister said it was not time to help the south yet! To make matters worse, they are doing everything to delay the aid they are sending to Rio Grande do Sul, even the Uruguayan government tried to help, but the Lula government denied help from the president of Uruguay.

So that foreigners understand, this all happened only in a Brazilian state that has an area of 281 km2, our country has more than 8.5 million km2, and the strange thing about all this is that it didn't rain on the border with our neighbors Argentina and Uruguay and in neighboring state of Santa Catarina, some theorists say it is the work of HAARP.

Not really, the last ice age still not completed, it's getting naturally warmer.
Everything is caused by man made climate change and the only solution is to spend trillions of dollars, ditch fossil fuels for unreliable energy, introduced laws to restrict our lives...so that we can make a 0.00001% difference. Or we can hold governments accountable for millions of people dying each year from preventable causes, mismanagement of infrastructure and tax money.

Tell me what makes you say Britain should send anything. It is the responsibility of Brazilian government and the president to actively help those citizens desperately needing help right now. I don't hear or see president declaring to act vigorously.

Not floods from heavy rain... This is to to the river's dam that collapsed.... Please report accurately!!!
There was only a partially collapsed dam. It's all from the heavy rains , indeed.
850mm of rain precipitation in 3 days isn't heavy rain?
Heavy rain that caused a dam to collapse partially. Happy now?
Floods from heavy rain. Those dams can't hold that much water even if they were working perfectly, they weren't designed for such water volumes.

Unfortunately, scenarios like this will repeat themselves more frequently. That was practically an entire country destroyed! in 1941 a similar flooding took place in that same region. I guess it was Bolsonaro's grand father's fault, huh?
Actually, if you look up the map of 2022's election, most part of Rio Grande do Sul voted for Lula. Moreover, the worker's party (btw I am not referring to the German one of A. H.) was born in that same state.
