Here's the Fate of the Founding Fathers, what happened to many of them during the Revolutionary War. Challenges with this one were the lyrics and finding images online that could convey what happened. The video clips and some stills came from the 2000 movie, The Patriot (Columbia Pictures). The idea came from "The Americans Who Risked Everything" by the father of the late Rush Limbaugh. I hope you enjoy it!

Lyrics:
It was in a hall in Philadelphia, that they all came
On August 2nd, 1776, to sign their name
To a solemn document Jefferson had largely written
That declared American independence from Great Britain
But, though the faces of these delegates were free from fear
Their actions, they knew, were treasonous, arrest could be near
Many of these 56 signers would pay the price
What follows is their fate at the hands of the British, though, sadly, it’s concise
Francis Lewis’ home, ransacked, lands burned by the enemy
His wife, Liz, imprisoned, died from their brutality
William Floyd and family escaped and lived in poverty
Years later, returned to their home, nothing there to see
Philip Livingston’s lands and wealth, they did confiscate
He and his family, driven from their home to relocate
Louis Morris’ crops and cattle, the British commandeered
He couldn’t return to his home and family for seven years
John Hart escaped the British, could not return to his ill wife
She died, their 13 children taken, missing his whole life
Judge Richard Stockton, betrayed by neighbors, captured in bed
Beaten, starved, released crippled, no more to be said
George Clymer and his family could escape the chase
Their home and property destroyed, by soldiers at their place
Rhode Islander William Ellery’s residence they found
As punishment, his home and property burnt to the ground
Commander Thomas Lynch suffered, his health needing to mend
Edward Rutledge, captured and imprisoned till war’s end
Arthur Middleton suffered the same fate behind bars
Thomas Heyward, also, imprisoned, and his lands charred
Thomas Nelson’s mansion became headquarters for the British
He helped the army to destroy it, and died impoverished
Abraham Clark’s two sons fought, were caught, sent to the prison ships
‘Their freedom for your loyalty to King’, but, ‘No’ left his lips
All the signers, victims of manhunts, not one cry was heard
But, none of our forefathers defected or went back on their word

The video just builds on the two faces of the Bri'ish. On one hand, great scientists and philosophers, on the other, unacceptable crimes like these.
Sadly, war brings the very worst (and sometimes, the very best) out in people.
Yo mate are you bri’ish?
@@alonsky2353 nah
@@gangasrinivasan1181thanks mate
The "Thomas Lynch" you mentioned is the father, but his son Lynch Jr. replaced his father as the signer since Lynch Sr. died of a stroke aged 49. Lynch Jr, on the other hand, disappeared while sailing aged 30 with his wife. The signature of Lynch was actually Junior's.
Thanks for the info, Gemini!
@@CenapsisWhat in the?
Thank you for bringing their sacrifices to light in a wonderful way!
And thank you, Robert, for your kind words!
Its is tragic that these founding father house were burnt down by george iii soilder and some lost their life by soilder, evan some can't see their family last moment.
Very true. Tragic. On the other hand, they weren’t hung, the standard punishment for treason against Britain!
Me, Dean Falcon. This song was very powerful with those strong lyrics you wrote. I love it. Good job. 👍
Thanks a lot, Dean!
@@CenapsisI know I am a Teenager
0:24 what is the painting called
Hi! It's called the 'Signing of the Declaration of Independence'
Lazy name.
Today marks 248 years since the signing, yet it is still sad what happened to them
I don't understand, if Francis Lewis was born in Wales, then why was he imprisoned? 2. Why did the British take Nelson's mansion but then Nelson wants it to be destroyed?
Hi Vanessa! Lewis signed a treasonous document, according to the British. Secondly, I believe the British took over Nelson’s home because it overlooked the areas of conflict. Nelson wanted to shell his home in the hopes of destroying the British command.
Beautiful I am starting to cry its too good also sometimes my comment gets deleted
Thanks very much, Ali! I’m certainly not deleting you!
late comment i've noticed some Founding father's Were not punished (Such as: Rufus king (Despite being in College) ,and the First Five US Presidents)
Hi Petrovski! Many were pursued by British forces but were able to escape capture
@@Cenapsis i also realized that some of them didn't even sign the declaration of Independence which is probably why some of the other founding fathers were not hunted
I know all or most of thease men are evil but like they had souch bad fates
I always listen to this song while playing teardown
Thanks for that!
Freedom is expensive. They paid. We gained.
Very well said. It reminds me of a song from my distant past…Freedom isn’t free - you’ve got to pay the price - you’ve got to sacrifice - for your liberty
Amazing video.
And an amazing video on President Taft
What president is next
Thanks lots, Bryan! Coming up next is James Polk.
Hi Mr. Nowicki this is Brent speaking. You know Mr. Nowicki that when these issues happen to those 14 men those are their most embarrassing moments and that's how life is and their life different 😭. These 14 signers went to heaven 😇 but the British went to hell when they already do the bad things 😡. I've changed my profile because I like that profile and my age is 11 and thank you for my time.
Hi, Brent! Thank you for your comment! War is a terrible thing which brings the worst out in people. It takes a lot of strength of mind to keep emotions from controlling your actions and to think more logically to solve problems. Let's try our best! Thanks, again, Brent!
If there's a heaven, they're all definitely in it!
You made this song, but please make a Declaration of Independence signers song because this video didn't list them all
Hi Geo! Okay. I’be just added it to my list!
Was there not enough video time to cover all 56 signers? Only 14 are here. (and yes, i counted)
Hi! I listed those who suffered the worst hardships among the signers. The others, as I mention in the song were victims of manhunts, but were apparently not pursued as relentlessly.
John Adams brother was killed in battle by the British
Thanks for your comment, Nicholas!
First
Ha! Abi, Congrats!
How were John Harts children taken
I also feel bad for him
Hi Eric! I’m afraid I don’t know the answer. I can only assume the British soldiers gathered them and took them back to England
YES FINALLY!!!!
Yup! Glad you’re happy, Mr. President!
Why did John Harts Wife Die & Didn’t Give Birth To Her 13th Children
Hi Larry! John Hart’s wife died in 1776, long after she had given birth to their 13 children.
Walt Disney plz
Hey! Good idea, Abi! He’s now on the list! Thanks!
So cool
Thanks a bunch, Haha!
Yoooo
Thanks, Ganga!
Including replys, 100th comment!
Congrats, Nic!
Which president are you doing next
Hi! Polk’s coming next!
I always go to Philadelphia to eat Pho.
Cool, Vitamin! Still looking for a good place for Pho in Okinawa!
Amazing as usual!
Thanks a bunch, Danny!
What is the next video
Next, Marisa, is President Polk!
Hi
Hi Benjamin!
@@Cenapsis hi
Please do a piano tutorial of this.
Hi! Wish I knew how, but here’s the thing…I don’t actually play the piano. I lay out each note on a grid (two grids…one for each hand or clef) and build the notes into a song. It kind of looks like a horizontal player piano roll. I use a Mac app called Logic Pro. I don’t have any piano training, but have listened to a lot of music and mimic styles. Sorry!
These signers are admirable people! They could have taken the easy way out by going back on their word. They could have sworn an oath of loyalty to the king. They could even have made a tearful plea saying they were sorry for committing treason. But instead they refused to give up on their beliefs and values!
Definitely brave and principled men!
July 4th, not August 2nd.
Hi Deny…via Wikipedia: ‘The signing of the United States Declaration of Independence occurred primarily on August 2, 1776, at the Pennsylvania State House in Philadelphia, later to become known as Independence Hall.’
Fun fact - in the millennial decade an airline offered a free ticket to anyone who had the same first and last name as one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, or to any female who had the same first initial and last name as one of them!
Wow! Thanks, Eunae!
Correction:July 2nd, 1776
Hi! According to Wikipedia, “The signing of the United States Declaration of Independence occurred primarily on August 2, 1776, at the Pennsylvania State House in Philadelphia, later to become known as Independence Hall.”
@@Cenapsis Never mind it says that the DoI came into the picture on July 2
What did 1776 look like
It was definitely a tougher time to live than it is today!
@@Cenapsis maybe that’s why I’m in Mrs pórtales class
Who is the next?
Hi Aksa! President Polk is next!
Thanks
Nice
Great song and history
Thanks, Andy!
Wow nice what is next
Thanks, DEO! Polk coming up, then, I think I’ll do NATO!
Was Francis Lewis imprisioned? If not, why would they capture his wife?
Hi Tony! I can only assume that he was not at home at the time of the raid
@@Cenapsis I thought so too. But how did you pick which ones to talk about?
Wow! They had very fancy handwriting!
Many did, Sakariye!
I guess more fancy than mine@@Cenapsis
@@yourlocalartist_507 They probably wrote for hours everyday, so they developed fancy, unique styles!

Thanks for putting this song in a minor key.
😊👍
The hanging picture in 0:31 is what makes it scarier.
Hi Deny! It was a possibility since the stance on independence was treasonous to the British
Are you like a history teacher
Hi Rome! I was mainly an English teacher, but love history as a hobby!
Man New York delegates were not lucky.
Apparently, the British forces were most active there
I don't understand what this means
Hi Sophia! This video is about what happened to the state representatives who signed the Declaration of Independence (from Great Britain) in 1776. Those representatives and others were called our Founding Fathers. Many of them and their families suffered for signing, during the Revolutionary War.
Oh ok I never heard of these till I watched this
Can you please so a karaoke version?
Hi! Yup…it’ll be coming up
This story is so sad😭😭
Thanks for your comment, Victoria
Why did these people end up getting arrested\beaten\ or there house was burnt to the ground when all they really did was they signed their name on a document jefferson wrote?
Hi Thomas! Basically, the British came to the Colonies to crush the rebellion, and these men who signed were representing their states. The British wanted to make them very strong examples of what would happen if people disobeyed the King.
Woah Those Founding Fathers are pathetic 😅
Hi Relaxer! Thanks for your comment!
