Well said that man!!! I shoot with a D750 , I sell my prints regularly & am winning national & international medals, I know of lots of guys that have to have the latest gear, but to be honest I struggle to justify the cost of changing my camera & all the lenses I have as apart from a few functions in the mirrorless cameras that would make a few things easier, they aren't going to make me take better landscape photographs.
Don't complain, don't complain, you have a beautiful gallery. It's been 25 years since I opened mine, with barely any money, we had to do everything with our hands, floor, walls, ceiling, lights......and without We have no idea (the walls are a disaster), but we are proud of it. One day we will get back to work and try to look like yours. Congratulations

Hi Stuart, you can always tell when something is done right because it looks effortless ... when of course the truth is that a lot of hard graft has gone into it. The gallery looks stylish, fresh and appealing. I wish you every success .. and the benches are a nice touch, as you'll probably find that the average visit length will increase which ought to help converting footfall into sales. The couch in the back room is a good idea as I'm sure in the winter months, there'll be the odd occasion where its hard to get home in 4 foot of snow!

As you say, it focusses the attention more on the images, but I don't think my wife would appreciate me turning up at home with a tin of grey paint🙂 I live out of the country so it's very unlikely I'll be able to "pop in", but I'll certainly check out your calendar.

Looking good. A definite improvement and may it draw in more punters. Have you thought about having a flick though catalogue of the images not on the wall? Everyone loves to thumb through a book and it’ll showcase your work as a block.
Hi Stuart. This is exciting and was the right decision. The grey walls and hanging system compliment each other really well. Having various print sizes is a good idea as there will always be those little areas that need smaller prints. It is a sad reflection of the times we live in to have to need one, but I hope you have rock solid shutters to pull down over shop at night. Will you have a section where the content of the pictures coincides with time of the year, a wall of snow pictures in winter for example? I wish you success with the gallery, and Jo with her health. Thanks Colin - they'll be an element of themed work from time to time (mainly in the smaller room) though to be honest from years of experience as much as photographers like to shoot them, snowy/wintry pictures tend to sell poorly in a commercial environment.
It looks great and your merchandise looks absolutely great inside it. Our framed artworks, mirrors and prints are displayed on a similar system in the Superstore where I work. It's a very dynamic system, because of the flexibility it affords you. I'm sure you'll be making full use of it, as you have to keep moving around your displays to keep it fresh. People think you've got a whole load of new stuff in, when in actual fact you've just juggled the order it's displayed in. I'm not sure when I may next be heading for the Lake District, but I'll be sure to pop in and say hello whenever I'm in the area.
I really enjoyed the video. Helped to understand some of the business decisions that photo artist have to make to take photography from a hobby to a business.

An excellent video Stuart. It's great to see someone dealing with the actual professional side of photography rather than the usual promotion of fanciful ideas. When it comes to making a living (which is my definition of 'professional') from selling images, marketing plays a huge role. Recognising what the public wants to purchase is far more important than putting out images that may be the photographers favourites and hoping someone will buy it. Just love the hanging system, I wouldn't mind that myself at home but, I think the other half would have something to say about that. I know from experience that lighting can be a challenge and we all hate "hot spots" or reflections from track lighting or other types of light. I know from experience that lighting can be a challenge and we all hate "hot spots" or reflections from track lighting or other types of light. Are you using any special glass in your frames to help with that? Anyway, keep up the great work and I'll look forward to some location videos again. Cheers!
