    Got a 24" R92SS, 38/357 octagonal barrel month ago and it's amazing accurate and gorgeous and no issues whatsoever.
    The quality and functionality is up there, probably just as good as Henry or Winchester.

    Thanks for really shooting this rifle @ 50 and 100 yards. Most reviews just bang away at a 12 inch steel plate at 50 yards off-hand and then tell you how well the rifle shot!
    Your groups @ 50 and 100 are really quite good for iron sight and a lever action in a pistol caliber! God's best brother!

    I have a stainless 20" M92 in 454 Casull and one in 357 just for cheap fun, the 454 is also my "Go To" in the field and in the last 10 years I've never had a whitetail take more than a big jump when hit, most DRT. That rifle shoots to 2" at 50 yards and all my venison has been taken under 75. My brother has a M92 like yours, he bought it after shooting my rifles, I think the 357 was his favorite, I know it's the grandkids. I put a fiber optic front sight on it from Steve's Gunz and it must have 5000 rounds of my cast and powder coated reloads thru it now and it's very capable of stacking hits on top of each other at 50. My brother has taken 3 deer with his 44 and it's his truck gun loaded with 44 Specials. The M92 has to be one of the most popular lever guns around our neck of the woods, I know a lot of the CASS guys shoot them and they can be hard to come by but they are worth the wait. Has to be one of the underrated levers out there.

      It is called a "fouling shot" and yes it usually will throw the shot high. That is why I always go hunting with a fouled barrel.

    Looks like you are shooting a little to the left, you should tap your front sight to the left a tad to be spot on, thats what i did on mine.

    You might try a tang sight - Marbles makes a really nice one that windage and elevation adjustable and you will find that the ease of sighting will increase and your groups will shrink. Of course, if you wanted to go with a red dot, you can get a rail that mounts using the rear dovetail, so no gunsmithing.

    last year i shot a good buck with a .44 mag bullet in a green sabot from my muzzleloader, it was a 240gr semi jacketed flat point. the deer was less than 20 yards, and right by my decoy. i wasnt really impressed with that bullet, i accidently left my quick loaders in my truck that day so i had no more rounds on me, i had to stand there and watch the buck gurgle blood, kick around on the ground, and die for a bit (not a good memory). it took some time for the deer to die with the double lung shot. i am going to go back to a standard hollow point this year as i have had much quicker kills with them in the past.

      @Leehealy-wheninthewoods  2 года назад +1

      I don’t like flat points for hunting. I had a similar experience using a 44 mag revolver with flat soft points in a coyote. They just don’t disrupt enough tissue. These hornadys have been dynamite for me though. They winners in longer barreled guns.

      @@Leehealy-wheninthewoods This gun with this ammo is easily capable of taking deer out to 150 yards with a scout scope. Lever evolution is hotter than most and more aerodynamic so don't drop as much, took buck with this same gun in stainless at 146 yards. Range finder is necessary stretching them out though.

  • @Wildwestwrangler
    @Wildwestwrangler Год назад +2

    With that leverevolution you would be good on a deer out to 150 to 175

  • @MrZee1967

    I find the hornaday to be best for accuracy...flat points are good at 20-30 yards

    This leverevolution 44 mag rd doesnt even drop mych at 200 yards as I can hit a small silhouette at 200 yards.

    Great video! Not boring or stupid just shooting and testing.
    Glad your shooting at some distance besides water jugs at 10 yards.
    Try some shooting at 200 and 300 and video it. I bet you will do well, it’ll sharpen your skills and the rifle and caliber are capable

    3:30 actually they have worse B.C than almost everything else, even the regular 200 grain XTP from hornady have a higher B.C
    The hornady marketing department wouldn't want you knowing that, but it only seems to be a benefit for 30-30 and a few other rounds.

      @@Leehealy-wheninthewoods I'm there and it socks I like to trapshoot and it is horrible I don't really sue my sights but you do need them for alignment I guess,and the sights are fuzzy if I you my distance lenses then you can't see the birds if I use my bifocal lense so I just go without and shoot for the best,, I don't shoot nearly as much as I used to,my dad and I shot a lot of protectors but that's the short of it I guess,,,Happy shooting !!!

    I’m not a fan of lever evolution ammo, unnecessary high pressures have no upside whatsoever. Especially in older lever guns. 1892 44 is an excellent setup!

    New sub. here. 2 reasons why…#1~I’ve got the 92 in .357mag. that’s a sweet shooter. And #2~the simple fact that your willing to be unashamed of your faith. A truly rare quality in this world today. I too try to remain steadfast to my belief in Jesus Christ my Savior. Have a blessed day.

    I've owned 3 Rossi R92 rifles in 44 magnum caliber. Each one of them suffered from the same problem in that after firing 7 to 9 rounds of 240 grn 44 magnum (or 44 special), ammunition the magazine tube would become disconnected from the receiver, jutting out past the muzzle by approx 3/4 of an inch causing it to become unable to cycle another round. To me that is a pretty dangerous condition (at the range or hunting), that Rossi needs to address. If every Rossi R92 I've owned has this problem then I know that there are other folks that too have experienced it. Rossi wouldn't do anything to help with the problem other than want to sell me another R92. The gun shop also got so fed up with the problem that they dropped Rossi and replaced my rifle purchase with a 44 magnum Henry, at no extra cost to me,...

    • @Leehealy-wheninthewoods
      @Leehealy-wheninthewoods  Год назад +1

      I’ve never experienced that, and I’ve shot a lot of different kinds of ammo through my Rossi. Including some pretty heavy pills! Maybe my production year was better. It was a 2016 model.
