Great job, looks bloody nice. You have far more patience than me gluing all those fiddly bits. I also like the final weathering which is just enough and not overdone some modellers do. You can have too much weathering on models sometimes. Also, I can't help wondering how they launched the torpedoes. The US PT boats had deck mounted torpedo tubes.
What a fantastic series of videos, thank you so much for taking the time and effort to video the build, your attention to detail is amazing, I've just started my build, I'm up to fitting the side skins to the hull, if mine comes out half as good as yours I'll be over the moon, looking forward to a running video,
I’ve been building the same kit. I deviated after completing the deck by completely rebuilding the upper superstructure and 95% of the deck fittings using the Tamiya Perkassa kit as reference in plasticard, strip and rod. I have yet to build the guns from scratch as you rightly mention the 3D printed kits from Shapeway are no longer available as it appears the company is no longer. I will scratch build those too using the Tamiya kit parts as reference. Enjoyed your build 👌
@@modellingmisadventuressimply because it was very un-scale. Replicating the deck fittings in plasticard, strip, rod, ect was easy enough using the Tamiya kit as reference( I managed to keep all the Tamiya parts on their spruces and will re-sell the kit on ebay for about £100 soon!), it gives a better finish that’s trying to fill wood grain for prime and paint. Yes, it is very time consuming re-making all the parts, but i enjoy the challenge. The only vacform parts i used was the torpedoes and lifeboat canisters Printing the replacement parts in 3D would be an even better solution, but I don’t have the equipment to 3D print. I’ve managed to get a full set of crew from my friend Dave over at Drydock 3D in resin and although they are a US Naval set, they are about the right era and scale and will look great on the Perkasa after painting
Well-done so much work looks great, looking forward to the next vid. For some reason I cannot get onto the web site, could you please send me it, I must be doing something wrong. Thanks.
Fantastic model made by an amazing modeler, enjoyed every episode, looking forward to the next one.Well done! 😃
Many thanks! Glad you liked it 👍
Fantastic job! This really looks beautiful, the 3D printed parts give a super detail to the guns.
Thank you 👍

Thanks. I haven’t seen how these deck mounted torpedoes were launched. It looks like they could only be tipped over the side.

Great to hear. Hope you enjoy the rest of the build 👍
Stunning build, turned out superb and well built
Thank you very much!👍
Could you please do a radio controlled episode in this building on
Will do next time 👍
Very nicely made
Thanks a lot 😊
Well done.
Thanks very much 👍
Knowing your attention to detail I thought you might have put a servo on those guns so you could turn them round as you were sailing! Credit to you.
I did think about that but decided against it. 👍
outstanding!
Thank you 👍
that is really nice!
Thank you! Cheers!👍

Wow, that sounds like a lot of work. Why did you abandon the wood?

I’ll have to look into the figures you have come across. I can 3D print my own but I can’t find suitable files.
Well done Peter, looks great.
Thanks very much 👍
Grande!!!
Thank you 👍

Thank you. It’s just the SLEC website. If you google that it will come up.
Come on dude , you can do waaaaay better with that chain and rope , do not slack of the last pieces . 🙄🙄🙄🙄👎👎👎👎And now put some crew on.
Sorry you didn’t like it. Finding crew for this boat is challenging. The only ones I can find are the 1/35 scale Italieri PT boat crew.
Not that i did not like it but is could be inproved that's it , and yes 1/40 is a bit of a weird scale for crew . Or somebody could print some? 😁😁👍👍
