I'm retired Navy onboard subs and my first boat was the USS Pickerel SS 524 in 1970 out of Charleston, SC. I remember a picture in the mess decks of the WW2 Pickerel and now to see it in RC is amazing and brings back memories. Thanks for sharing.
Gus - The USS Requin is moored down the hill from me and I've been through her numerous times. It astounds me how you guys lived and worked so effectively aboard a boat that small - much respect from a former US Army Infantryman!
Wow, the weathering and rust look real! I build scale RC airplanes, but this is next level complexity. Submarines are fascinating and yet scary! I guess that’s why I like to read Clive Cussler books!
As soon as I saw this I said “32nd Parallel!!”. I wanted one of these hulls back in the day but didn’t have the $$ for one. Best I could do was the full scale plans from them. I vaguely remember someone out west who built the USS Pampanito out of this hull. Thanks for the tour of this fine model sub 👍👍
Fantastic run through! Ive been trying to build a 'smokeless' smoke system for my 144 scale RC warships and that looks like a perfect solution! That sub looks really well thought out.
Smokeless smoke systems have been around since the late 60s early 70s. Try model railways Triang Hornby in England had many models using an electric element and a small well of oil/water. A bit like a salad dressing mix , using soluble oil similar to sewing machine oil. Each time the train moved a piston would push a small column of air thru it , generating a smoke/vapour trail, out the smoke stack.
Stuff the detail. You can add that on afterwards (probably save money in a short form kit. its the Superstructre Reliability and Engineering that count most. in a collision etc the details are the first bits that break off. If its moulded you have a gaping hole and more leaks.
Hi I just found your channel by accident. I can’t believe what you have here. I have never given it any thought whatsoever in my entire life. Well I am Totally Blown Away by this. I have sent a link to this to a good friend that is a Navy Veteran that did his time on a submarine and continues to be involved until today with submarines and submarine groups. Thanks for what you do here on RUclips you definitely made my day.
People have been building RC model subs since the 60s. This video is not a subject for awe or amazement. If you look at most of these "I built xxx" serials design flaws are general evident from the get go..It takes the rest of the several hours of recordings to solve or get around them
RC Subs like these would make very effective weapons in our military. Imagine a swarm of these out ahead of an armada armed with explosives. We will be One.
I use a Radiomaster 16ch 2.4 radio and it's expandable to 32 channels and won't break the bank. It might be worth looking at. Very detailed video thank you
I am successfully operating my two subs already since beginning of last year with an ELRS 868/900mhz radio system. By this way I have the benefit of using any modern 2.4ghz radio equipped with a rf module slot, and running OpenTX or EdgeTX such as e.g. RadioMaster, FrSky, FlySky and so on. And I can dive as deep as previously possible with my old 40mhz radio sytem and at least with same range. So no need to have a surface antenna as necessary for 2.4ghz, which limits diving to periscope depth.
I believe I have one of these subs minus the RC set up. Mine is the same size, feels like aluminum but the upper deck section that is removable on yours looks to be sealed and filled in. Mine has the nav lights, swivel guns but everything else seems to be static. Any information on these old hulls? Thanks, great work here!
Hey bob, can you show a closeup of where the hitec watertight servo lead, that connects to the water tight cable lead, that then plugs into the connector at the wtc?
I still have an old 32nd Parallel catalog laying around somewhere. I wanted to build one of their kits, but could never afford it before they went out of business.
Awesome rc and great explanation of the boat. I wonder though would it been better to use the emergency air system for the fall safe instead of the pumps?
Really cool RC but I do think it's a shame not to have functioning Torpedoes especially since the rig was built with Torpedo bay doors. But again super cool rig! 👍👍
When I was 12 years old I think I seen this sub at a local pond. They had a rc boat event the owner was shooting gas powered torpedoes at a battleship.
Controllers? You want a radio like the one used for this boat? I offer them in my store here: www.rc-submarine.com/product-page/radiolink-10ch-radio-and-transmitter-for-rc-submarines
this is cool , but i am amazed no one hasn't built a RC sub at least 20 feet long , seems it would be most realistic in the water aside from just being flat out awesome , if i had unlimited funds i would have a WW2 rc sub built 30 feet long and spare no expense in detail , and i would have Howards H4 Hercules built also , 65 foot wing span with 8 radials RC of course also spare no expense in detail
No, this is a customer's boat that was sent to us for refit. All that said, maybe he'd be open to selling if you threw a ridiculously high offer at him (guessing well into five digits)
I had nearly 4 solid minutes of operational footage at the beginning of the video. I hope to get more and better footage at my SUBFEST event in Georgia in September.
I never saw that "sub" actually underwater which makes that "sub" nothing more then a fair sized ship. this video: ruclips.net/video/hV2Knec8Xbg/видео.html show a 1.5 meter Typhoon class submarine that actually goes Completely underwater. His video does not have any loudmouth with an attitude on it, just music. think you can top that?
LOL... Who are you and why are you breathing my air? When you build something yourself and share it with the world, I'll notice you. When you build a working submarine, I'll listen to you. Until then, please kindly crawl back under your rock, troll...
Looks more like a massive piece of plastic , wood and .. (carbon) fibre (glass)to me. Wth RC controls motors and propulsion. This of course is an advert for the sale of this product. Bring that to Florida and we will tun it up the clear blue Rainbow river in Ocala. Perfectly calm water 4ft-15ft 1 mph current 5 miles long. We will stand on our pontoon boat and follow the sub up river!

Wow, back in the late 90s i was all over the 32nd Parallel website dreaming about this kit. It's really awesome seeing it featured in a video.
Wow! That is the COOLEST RC model I have ever seen. The weathering is so realistic and your technical savvy is amazing! I love this. All the best.
A fascinating look at a 1/32 scale full function RC submarine, a real pleasure and education for me, thank you.
Beautiful (huge) boat. Nice detail and hardware work.

Sweet I am so glad I found your site I have been building RC boats and planes for over 30 years not only submarines are very cool
Beautiful model 👍
This R/C submarine model is outstanding! The large scale & exceptional detail create a very realistic model!

Beautifull boat....Well Done.

Amazing build!

Now that's a monster. Holy cow 😳!
Fantastic!!!! Want to have one
That my friend is the coolest rc I've ever seen .
Beautiful boat
So very nice!!!
That's just beautifully impressive!
That’s fantastic
This one came out incredibly well! I wish you'd have been able to do that XXI too.
Nice overview
I'm not really into the RC boat scene but that is incredible!
Impressive Job! 73 from BRASIL
Nice!
pretty cool! I see the Robart Retracts valve in use for your periscope. Pretty clever!
I love to see an RC CG!
Awesome
Oh wonderful
Stunning beauty! 😊🥰😍

A bit bigger and you could go inside the sub. Thanks for sharing.

That's a huge boat.

YES,STILL GOTTA PUMP UP DA PERISCOPE...LOL..SOOOO COOL
Superbe modèle !
Holy Cow!!
Nice ballao class SS. What about huge model of 613 project?
Awesome rc and great explanation of the boat. I wonder though would it been better to use the emergency air system for the fall safe instead of the pumps?
The boat does use an onboard and self-contained gas ballast system for the emergency blow.
Hi Bob
Take one of your subs to Lake Tahoe sometime and record some underwater footage. You’ll have no problem seeing probably 100+ feet out.
Really cool RC but I do think it's a shame not to have functioning Torpedoes especially since the rig was built with Torpedo bay doors. But again super cool rig! 👍👍
Yeah, I think the Cartels have slightly larger RC subs plying the Gulf.
Thanks for posting, great videos and boats look great, do you have one RTR for sale, or know some who might?...thanks
Your timing is excellent. This boat is available, but you need deep pockets to afford it. Priced at $11K and available for immediate possession.
👍 AWESOME !!! 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺😁😁😁
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWW! 😱😁👍👍🇺🇲
And Very Cool!! I want one, hahahahaha
Where did you get that large poster of the Disney nautilus hanging on the back wall? I would love to get one
Look for Erich Linder on www.nautilussubmarine.com. He sells them (or did a few years ago).
It's just "SS-316". There's no "N" designator. That would mean that the Barbel was nuclear, but we all know that Baleo Class was diesel.
Run Silent , Run Deep

Pretty awesome but man does it take up space

You need a diver and maybe he can get some cool video
Can you purchase these?
The hull kits are no longer in production, unfortunately.
very nice Project, raise the fist ^^
Is this submarine for sale
No, this is a customer's boat that was sent to us for refit. All that said, maybe he'd be open to selling if you threw a ridiculously high offer at him (guessing well into five digits)
Is there a kit I can buy were did customer get this boat please
@@oceanchaser no more kits of this size. Sorry
What? We didn’t get to go to sea?
Awesome video. But, It should be a crime to make a video this long and not include a lengthy and functional video afterwards!
I had nearly 4 solid minutes of operational footage at the beginning of the video. I hope to get more and better footage at my SUBFEST event in Georgia in September.
If the anchor doesn't work, I'm not impressed !!! :)
Very cool, but for the money and time the electronics are a mess.
