On my A7RII when shooting low light I scale the files down to 24, 16, or 12mp depending on what ISO I've shot and what output is needed. Using Lightroom's colour noise reduction at 50% as I do with all cameras and masking at 80% the results are pretty clean. As DPReview covered in an article you can get extra detail when compared to a lower megapixel camera. They put the A7S against the A7R (I think it was that long ago it was the mark 1) and up to high but not crazy ISOs the advantage went to the A7R. Scaling any file down should help noise so if someone needs a high pixel count for their studio and not so much for their low light work it should do the trick. Backlit sensors help as well TBF.
I've been working with an SL2 for a month now and it's like driving a 68 Eldorado. Built perfectly solid, heavy and it's the smoothest ride. Guzzles battery. You nailed the pros and cons right down to the passion of it and the experience along with the low light issues. Not a low light camera. Still love it. haha
I dont mean to be off topic but does anyone know a method to log back into an instagram account..? I somehow forgot the account password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me!
@Arlo Damian i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Leica SL2 is a great body but why is there only 1 support company out there for HSS flash support for studio flash systems to overpower the sun? It’s essential for fashion wedding recent portrait flash photography ? No Profoto pocketwizzard Support for example for HSS ?? Priolite I found out only company as I think ?
What about the build quality compared to the X1D 50Cii? I thought it felt just as good as the SL, & almost half of its original price at $5,750! Thanks for the review!
I was really ready to buy an SL2 and finally, I ended up with a Mamiya RZ67 Pro II from eBay :-) but I still have my Sony A7III and my Leica MP with Leica lenses. :-) but Amazing camera the SL2! probably my next camera! by the way thanks for all your nice reviews!
Can anyone confirm where is the leica SL2 built ? I know Sl2 is design in Germany but not sure where it’s built . I owned SL1 then Panasonic S1r and the Panasonic S1R so far out perform the Leica SL and now Leica SL2 comes out and I want to buy but only if it’s made in Germany .
So 99% of your videos are pretty describing the physical of the cameras or lens but non of them really going to technical, I would love to see more of technical point of view! The channel would be the bomb if you add some technical stuffs in it even though you had it for couple of days but I m sure you can get something out of it ! Thanks for doing this bro!
@@laeicawezlar4417 you buy a sony for AF and tracking, I have the 42mp Sony and the A9, and they are great for sports and wildlife. You get the Leica for the colors and when you cannot remember how to use all the sony buttons and menus. I have both. I use the Sony A9 when I have to, and the SL2 instead of my 42mp Sony for landscapes. I enjoy the Leica shooting better, but the A9 is amazing for how it works so fast. The Leica ISIS seems better. The Sony A9 being only 24mp has less noise at higher ISO.
I waited to see SL2, and the body redesign not being fully milled, the removal of a dedicated GPS, and the removal of the 4 pad system control was a bridge to far for me, I bought a new SL from remaining stocks, paid $4100usd. I put a Voigtländer 50mm 1.2 on it to start, using the Leica brand adapter. More megapixels would have been interesting but not really necessary.
Which is why I use the original only with M lenses and have been thrilled with the performance for years. In this way it's not heavy and feels amazing and in use is fantastic. For me, it's all I use it for. M glass. The SL1 is better for this than the 2, but the 2 is better with L glass. ; )
@Otie Jason Well, why spend US$10k or more on a wrist watch that won't be the only, or maybe not even the most used, watch? It's because, if you have the 💰, it's a nice adult's toy. Nothing wrong with that. Beautiful, perfectly made objects can provide great pleasure. It's also why women will spend US$20k or more on one Hermes Constance shoulder bag. ☺️
That would be $50k ; ) Dumb "Conspiracy". At $6k this camera is a beast and well worth the cost if you can splurge on L lenses as well. One camera, one lens = $10k minimum. But it will last you for years without any GAS creeping in as nothing else gets close in feel, build, usability, etc. Even so, one could get a new Canon, Sony or Nikon every year or two and pay the same via upgrades ; ) I wont buy the SL2, I prefer the original but it's a good seller for Leica and well deserved. Nothing like it.
mps Word on the Leica boards (confirmed by 7Artisans on Twitter) is that it's a different company; gossip is that one of the 7Artisans guys left to start his own company (so maybe they are “6Artisans” now?!?) Both seem to be manufactured by the same contractor, DJ Optical, so they look a lot alike...
@@CoyoteReyne My point is that people "splurge" on Leica bodies, when in reality, the body's contribution to the final photo is minimal compared to the glass. Imagine taking a Mandler-era Leica lens and pairing it with the latest Sony Alpha hotness, and then imagine a comparison of the resultant photo with a 7Artisans lens with an SL2. The. Body. Doesn't. Matter. Leica. Is. About. The. Glass. Ultimately, I think the reason there are so many photographers on RUclips with M240's and Voigtländer glass is because it's cheaper to buy a used M240 and Voigtländer glass than to buy Leica glass. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The Leica cameras to me are just luxury items. They do feel and look amazing but I’ll take functionality over luxury any day of the week. I drive a FIAT 500L because it’s a super narrow SUV that I can get around the very narrow streets of Philadelphia. It’s not a luxury car (never owned one) it’s practical. So for my own personal preference build quality comes second or even third over what the camera can do. I’m no going to go on about what cameras do a better job than Leica, that’s not my point. Leica cameras, in my opinion, are more status and extravagant than practical.
None of them Leicas will feel the same as when you're using a Canon 1dx Mark III either, in answer to the question 'What is Canon doing?' ha ha ha ha ha

What does that have to do with this Leica?
I bought a SL based on your reviews and am loving it. Thank u and wish u a happy new year!
Awesome and glad to hear. Keep enjoying it! Happy new year!
My wife has had her SL1 for 4 years no problem even in the minus degree weather of Mongolia

Hi, would Zeiss Distagon T 2.8/15 ZM suitable for Leica SL2? Would it require an additional adaptor? Thanks in advance.

Hi Sir, I planned to buy a SL2. But I am looking for Voigtlander 50mm or Meyer-optik 50mm. Did you tested for comparison these 2 lenses?

Wow! Can you do a more detailed review of the TTartisans 21mm? Would be super interesting to see it compared to the Voigtlander Ultron...
I will buy M glass for my A7R series, to me it’s about glass. Nice review
just a waste, sensor doesnt play well. Sony 24 GM or Zeiss 50 doesnt need leica help

I might pickup an SL1 used off ebay for around $2500 and call it a day.
Thinking of doing the same. Did you buy one in the last 5 months?
it is nice when i tried it but the AF is just horrible in difficult lighting.
Low light is important for me too. Thank you for the review. I am keeping the SL1.
what you think about sigma 14-24mm f/2.8 to leica sl2 ?
Rich enough to buy a real Van Gogh ?? Lucky guy. Long live to your RUclips channel !
SL2 and Leica lenses price should not even hurt !
How does the high ISOs look, when you export the images in 24mpix?
Have you ever held the Pentax K-1 Mk II?
I love the SL, apart from the weight. For that reason I don't use it as much as I should.

Fantastic review 🥳👍
Does it work with the DJI Ronin-S?
I received TTA 21.1.5 yesterday. really smallest 21mm
Hi, I bought the Leica SL2, does someone know how to shoot 187 mpx photos ? I can not find this option .... thanks
No one needs to shoot 187MP.........
my next camera..
Camera Conspiracies just confirmed the next Leica will be made out of a diamond! Think I'll wait for that model...

This is close for the insane prices
did 7artisans rename to ttartisans or is it a different company?

mmm 6000 dolars for a camera without lenses… Not for me! i bet not a lot of people around here can pay that
Why not spend "thousands of dollars" on Leica glass instead of the Leica body? 🤔
what good is it to have a lens without a camera?

It´s funny but your rectangular lenshoods always look like they are a little bit tilted (I mean misrotated)…
If anyone spends £5000 on an SL2 body ahead of buying Leica glass, they should reconsider their existence.
Why are you promoting shitty lenses? Do you have a deal with TTA? I thought this was an SL review....?
