- Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic XL - Best Fan/Radiator Configuration
I wasn't happy with the fan configuration used in my original build • Lian Li O11 Dynamic XL... due to thermal performance, so I ordered 3 more QL120 corsair fans and decided to go for better aesthetics and hopefully changing the orientation so I have come up with a new configuration that does both and in my opinion is the best fan configuration for this case.
Please note the below are Amazon affiliate links:
QL120 FANS - amzn.to/3lOzkUo
Corsair 360mm Capellix AIO WHITE - amzn.to/3CHYBG7
Corsair 360mm Capellix AIO BLACK - amzn.to/3CICBLc
6 intake - side and bottom & 4 exhaust - rear & top

I was literally starting to build my 011-XL yesterday and had this same debate myself and left the radiator side-mounted. Might have to switch it after seeing the benchmark comparisons. Thank you for this! Subscribed!
Thank u so much 4 the support really appreciate the sub 👍
Its a trade off and depends on which your trying to cool more the gpu or the cpu. He should have posted GPU temps next to it for it truely to be useful. side mount your pulling in cold air directly to cpu radiator and top mount your getting heat from gpu. but a top mount will create more positive pressure in the case. which could be the improvement he is seeing. I personally like the side mount with the 011 xl due to the fact the gpu has nothing slowing down air from leaving the top. and even with a 5950x r9 my 3080ti is the true heat builder in the machine and whats truely needed to game.
I did post the gpu temps and cpu temps? You said personally yes, I personally didn't like the side intake as I found better temps for both cpu and gpu with top mounted rad as exhaust. I did also say depends on fan speed, gpu type and other factors. It's what worked for me thats all mate. Thanks
Great vid! Must have been an absolute pain changing all the fans around, so much appreciated! Currently building my pc using your Lian Li build video and have to say it's the best I have found on youtube. Thanks! Look forward to more of your videos.
@Linda Kay thank u for the support it means alot and good luck with the build. Regards
This has to be the only video that describes this case with real life examples. Great job!
@Sturanovic .ms thank u very much I appreciate your time and support 👍
watched a few other fan intake and exhaust videos and this one is cool because it shows you actually doing the work which helps because I am trying to do this myself. Thanks.
I really appreciate thats feedback mate good luck and thanks 😊 👍
EXACTLY what I was looking for! To know which configuration was better.... thanks for doing the work FOR me :P
Glad it helped 👍
This video literally solved all my confusions thanks a lot
No problem mate glad it helped 👍
thanks for this. i wanted to know what i thought the aio would really looks like and this helped. thanks!
No problem and glad it could help 😊 I appreciate you watching 👍
I put my radiator up top in an almost identical build so thanks for confirming my bias.
No worrys and good job man thanks 4 the support stick around 4 more content
i'm glad you moved the radiator to the top
Me too mate much better -.gunna do more tests now I have a 3090 with blow through feature tho. See if it makes any diff. Could also look at push pull side exhaust too 🤔
In a perfect world all of this makes sense, but I found that to not always be the case. I use the O11 XL too except with 7 LL120's and a 280mm Kraken x62 AIO.
The only place I can mount a 280mm AIO in the O11 XL is on the top, which I originally had set up to be exhaust, the temperatures were really good in that configuration back when I had the 1080Ti.
However, when I switched to a 3090, I kept getting BSOD's and my Ryzen 3900x kept hitting well over 80c which should never be the case with that CPU. Turns out the issue was that the 3090 outputs so much heat, that the AIO mounted on the top exhausting the air could not manage, regardless of the configuration of the other 7 fans in the case. My solution was flipping the fans on the top mounted AIO to be intake instead of exhaust, no issues since then.
Thank you for your detailed response mate 👍 I have a strix 3090 now and the 5950x but I don't get to 70c and I thought I would due to the pass through on the 3090. I guess there are so many variables and what u say makes sense but it still is the best config for me. Thanks again for sharing and take care
@@TechCheckUK From what I've seen on Gamers Nexus 280mm and 360mm AIO's perform more or less the same. I use a 5800X3D now and it's the same thing, as soon as I make the AIO exhaust from the top, the cpu is overheating because of the rad having to deal with the heat from the GPU and CPU simultaneously. I use the MSI Surpim X 3090.
I've found that playing Wolfenstein The New Colossus is what really put my pc on fire in that configuration, for some reason more than any other benchmark.
@@TruExFlame Intresting and nice build too mate 👍 I find it's the hottest when 4k video rendering in premier pro 👌

That means alot mate 👍 thanks its worth all the effort thanks 4 tge support make sure to get subscribed and keep up to date with new content. Regards
Surprising results. I would figure pulling in fresh air would result in a lower CPU temp. One deviation in your tests is that the rad fans are pushing through the rad on the top mount, but are pulling from the rad on the side mount. For fans with such a low pressure as the QL 120s (1.55 mm-H2O), this could cause a huge discrepancy. I personally would never use anything below a 2.5 static pressure for rad fans as well.
I agree with the fans they are not the best for static pressure mate. But purely for aesthetics
I agree. It's just not possible for top mounted aio which is using hot gpu air for cooling to be in any way superior to the side mounted aio with push configuration using outside cool air for cooling.
It is when the volume of cool air being pushed into the case via the side intake. Regards
@@TechCheckUK That air is still mixed with hot air from gpu, while the side push mount is only using cool outside air for cooling.
Using pressure push side fans would yield different results in my opinion.
@@milossladic381 it also depends on air temp outside case - so many variables. In my testing this worked better for me and yielded better results. I do appreciate your opinion tho
Thanks for this video man, it made my life so much easier trying to figure out my fan configuration for the new build.
Thanks for the comment mate 👍 good luck what parts you building with?

No probs mate thanks 4 watching I really appreciate the support and comments good luck on the build 👍
Interesting mounting the Aio top the push config with warmer air did actually beat the side intake with fresh air pull config. Which is actually a good thing as you don't have to pull in warm air from the rad into the case.
Thanks mate yeah I didn't think it would be better due to the gpu but worked a treat and was much better for me. I always say to try different combinations and see what works best for.your conditions. Appreciate the view my man 👍
@@TechCheckUK yeah people usually don't think about the current pc temp situation with having hothead gen4 nvme drivers, overclocked memory, large 16+ phase vrms, big chipsets like x670e or z790 that all need s to be cooled preferably by fresh air
@Tamás Kerecsényi totally agree mate as all that money can be wasted if your not sufficiently providing enough cool air as hardware will just thermal throttle.
Glad to see this follow up video. I am running a PC-011 knockoff, the "Metallicgear Neo Qube in White" with a Deepcool 360EX and 9 Corsair QL fans. I got similar results. I alo much prefer the AIO on top with the pump cables to the left. I like it not covering my RAM RGB :) Great vid. subbed

Thanks for the video. I’m waiting on parts for a similar build. I didn’t know that the fans were interchangeable. I have the same AIO and I will definitely switch the fans out to match the other 7 QL120 fans.
YES MATE :)
Great video mate, those 3 white fans finish the build off nicely. Thanks for doing the comparison between top and side mounted radiator, I know a lot of people are asking this question with the Pc011 cases 👍
@Matt P thanks very much and nice to speak again 😀
Wouldn’t be better with radiator mount on top but with intake fans? My feeling is that as it is now, the fans will pull the hot air from the PC and will push through the radiator, which will not cool the water enough?
Thanks mate - you could have it this way yes. I personally wouldn't but totally up to you that's the beauty of a custom pc it's down to the individual and there wants and needs. Thanks 😊

42 cpu and 70 gpu under load sometimes 68 with gpu under load
Also same numbers under max load with Heaven benchmark and Residen evil 2 remake
Cpu is ryzen 9 3900x and gpu is 6900 XT red Devil
Thanks man I'm glad you liked and got some value I really appreciate your time and thanks for the support more content on the way 👍
Unless you have a 3080/3090 FE. So much heat from that card goes straight up and I've noticed a 10C difference in CPU temps side vs. top, top being higher as that heat is saturating the radiator.
I doubted it also to begin with thats why I originally did side intake in pull config with rad but I'm really glad I have changed it. It looks better and it is cooler. Regards and appreciate ya opinion
@@TechCheckUK It does depend on the GPU but I was just telling people that have a 3080/90 FE that they should do the side intake because of the increase in temps they will see on top rads SPECIFICALLY from 3000 series FE cards. I wish I could do top mount rad because it does look better.
i think a push-pull side mounted might have gotten better airflow, and it has the space for it in this case
Yeah 100% has space and is a viable alternative mate
Plz anyone here tell me which screws to attach radiator with the top of the case i have lian li o11d i attached the fans to the radiator with long screws but i wasn't able to attach the radiator to the case i used a screw it did fit but he did dig the radiator from that thing that look like Beehive.
Plz anyone help screws that came with lian li didn't work at all and also screws with radiator didn't find any one of them that could work?
Hi mate tbe longer screws are for going through the fan into the rad and it also comes with shorter screws you go through the top of the case into the rad only. These are found with your aio Regards
@@TechCheckUK are they 1/4 size of long ones?
I found them when attach them i found that they reach to the thing on radiator that looks like Beehive is that normal?
@@dalileddineslimani6399 as long as u used tge longer ones to go through the fan then into rad the shorter ones will be fine they are normally qtr /half the size of the longer ones

No worries 👍 thanks 4 watching 😀
i think the reason your CPU is running better as a top mounted rad is because the pump is located at the CPU block and the liquid in the rad is able to flow more efficiently vs the liquid having to rise all the way to the top of the rad in the normal config you had it in. Just my 2cents but i think having the rad mounted in the top position will make your pump last longer and provide better overall thermals.
good vid bro, i learned something i hope you did also =)
@Chris Morton thanks mate 👍 yeah I think the flow is impacted in the upright position so top mounted better in this case. I appreciate your opinion thats what it's all about. All learning something 😀 regards
hey
Good video!!
Can you help me with this doubt?
Is it possible to place the water cooler the way you did 8:05 (standing next to the motherboard), only with the pipes down?
Yes you can but depends on gpu mate! I always say your mileage may vary dependent on hardware choices but u can do it as long as aio pipes are long enough. Don't get to cought up on having the pipes down either as long as the top of your rad is higher than your cpu block your fine as air will go to the top of radiator. Hope this helps
@@TechCheckUK I understood
The configuration I want to assemble is with this same case ( lian li XL )
And in the case of the video card, it is one with 3 fans ( rtx 3070 ) , and the water cooler is the 360mm from lian li.
Do you think the water cooler pump would reach the processor? (with pipes down)
No I don't think so as the XL is much bigger than the standard case. The AIO pipes I don't believe are long enough to go around the gpu. Regards
Thank you for your well done testing setup. Nice video. I've seen vids showing the exact opposite conclusion. I think it depends on your exact case and fan setup. There seems to be no right or wrong answer to this question. It is multi-factorial so to speak. So don't take this as a negative criticism - the opposite in fact. You have shown that this is a complex problem.
Thank you for the feedback and I totally agree there are so many variables. Room temp, fan placement, hardware choice, case positioning, fan speed etc. Regards
Awesome video I learned a lot and I really enjoy the channel. You have a fantastic looking build there
Thanks v much i appreciate your time and feedback 😊
What about push pull on side rad intake. Top 3fans exhaust.
Yea that's a viable alternative mate. With airflow there is a optimised way and specific layout that will give best results but they are not always the best for everyone so always try different options. Thanks 4 the question and I appreciate your time
I need help with a Thermaltake Core V21 micro ATX case, 5600x with 280mm aio and Asus Rog Strix RX 6900 XT LC Top Edition how to set the airflow the best way!
You have your 280mm fan at front as intake. Two 120 or 140mm fans at top as exhaust and rear 120/140mm fan as exhaust. Nice case but cable management isn't the easiest 🙄 hope this helps 👍
@@TechCheckUK yes tahnk you! but I have now a radior in the front(GPU) & one in the right side for CPU. the temps are now just amazing and the fans on the radiators are intake.
@@Serandi1987 well done mate great work 👍
mounting mine top, no air bubbles to the motor, pull into rad, dont want case air flowing over it, pull from bot (coolest air), exhaust side. 6 LL 120 and kraken z73, gonna replace kraken fans with LL soon, dont buy the 120 SL single buy them in packs for the added controllers for up to 16 fans each! ive tested all configs myself, top rad bottom intake side exhaust is remarkably better.
Nice :) as long as it works for you thats all that matters mate
is it possible to install a push and pull radiator at the top or does it only fit for the side?
Yes you can do push pull at top but depends on fans mate. As you said better at side tho as you will be squishing your EPS cables mate
Can you try this? AIO top intake - pull, bottom intake, side exhaust, rear intake/exhaust.
Hi pal this goes against the natural flow and would result in increased temps mate 👍
The real question here is looking at the heaven results being within 1-2c difference. What about the hot air actually trapped in the case? The hot air will rise naturally and the rad will slow it down so in theory you'd have more hot air trapped in the case when gaming if mounted up top?
Hi mate I have been running g this config for 6 months with really consistent temps and this is optimal for me. It was demonstrated in tge video and I have now a 3090 and still better temps with the blow through founders edition. Regards and appreciate your comments 😊
Did you try to put the balck fans on the back pushing air together with the white one inside?
Hi David I didn't do push pull no. I didnt feel the need to after I alternated the fans. I do believe it would be a viable alternative tho. Thank you for watching I appreciate it 👍
question, i have the top 3 and bottom 3 as intake ( pulling in air ) and the top left, and the two on sides on the rad as exhaust ( pushing out air ) is that adviseable? or should i switch it around
Hi mate, 1st off if it works for you and your happy with it then great. personally i always like to intake from bottom and front and exhaust through top and rear as hot air rises. So i have 3 at bottom intake and 3 on side as intake, 3 at the top on rad as exhaust and 1 at the rear as exhaust (6 intake and 4 exhaust) hope that helps mate regards.
@@TechCheckUK i have the mini, so my cooler has to be on the side. should i make that an exhaust and have the top as exhaust? so it would be 5 intakes, then the top ones would be 4 exhaust
just conserning to have the rad on intake since it generates heat
@@SENPXL have u seem my build in the o11 mini on the channel check it out mate. U can put up to 280 at the top with no issues 😀 have a look and let me know what u think

I wonder what a push pull side intake rad config's temps would look like, 9 intake and 4 exhaust? I wonder if you did the same thing but, in the top mount exhaust config with 6 intake and 7 exhaust would the pressure in the case be negative or would it be neutral because it's pulling through the rad?
Great question not tried that config but I believe it would be neutral due to rad. I'd be intrested in results if you do it too.
This video has helped a lot
I was considering side mounting my rad in the same case, but after researching CPU and GPU temps it seems that top mounting is optimal.
And I know that there's currently a whole thing about tube orientation, but from what I understand top mounting might just cause the pump to last about a year less than it would in the optimal configuration. In my opinion better temps are of a higher priority than a slight decrease in AiO longevity, so I'll also be top mounting my rad now. Might also swap the fans for a few LL120s too.
Though I am going to vertical mount my GPU. I wonder if that will have any effect....?
@@rorybyrne86 great comment I 100% agree with you around cpu temps rather than aio longevity. I'm not a huge fan of vertical gpus as they normally suffer as too close to the side panel. I appreciate ya support regards and GL with the build.
@@TechCheckUK I had assumed the o11 XL would allow mounting far enough away from the side panel for air flow not to be an issue.
But the more I read into it the more uncertain I am about it. I'll probably end up saving 100 dollarydoos on the bracket and mount my 3080 the regular way.
I would Rory but its all down to personal preference and the extra money will be spent somewhere I'm sure 😊
Top mounting is actually one of the best orientations for an AIO
Yessssss 🔝 TOP 🔝
Yes I'm glad I took the time to top mount the aio also :) I appreciate your time thanks 😊
Awesome video! Would you approach the same configuration for the upcoming phanteks nv7? I currently have a 011D-XL but plan on giving the case + fans to my little brother. I guess you can say it's an excuse to buy new parts 😂
The nv7 is an amazing looking case mate 👌 I would go with 3 intake at the bottom and then 4 intake on the side, then the 360mm aio at the top as exhaust and then finally 2 at the rear as exhaust. U will get plenty of cool air and this will follow the natural path of least resistance. Thanks for watching I appreciate ya mate 👍

Good job mate 👍
Why not side push configuration? In my mind that would make a bigger difference
That was the worst in all my testing mate but welcome to try
How about top mounted AIO intake, 3 side intake, 3 bottom 1 rear exhaust
Personally I don't like it BUT it's what works for you. Naturally hot air rises so it's best to go with exhaust at top and bottom as intake. Side intake and rear exhaust - if you try it let me know the results mate
personally the margins are low enough for me to leave it side mounted personally the side mount looks better to me but i have mine set up as side exhaust with just 3 bottom intake and 3 top exhaust with my ryzen 5 5600x i see 31 c at idle and 45 to 50 underload with a lian li Galahand 360 at 20 c ambient temp. Great video tho lets me sleep without wondering how much different my temps would be having 6 intake instead
Awesome video! So to confirm, your the winning config was 1 exhaust at the back, 6 intakes, 3 at the bottom and at the side and finally the radiator set to exhaust, correct? Also did you consider 2 exhaust fans at the back?
Yeah exactly mate 👍 works a treat you can do side with rad as intake also if u want to but I prefer top rad as exhaust

@@ThaDopist No probs mate all its doing is running the fans at full speed until the icue software is engaged and instructs them - if you dont have icue then you can control them via the bios and just connect to 4 pin fan headers on mobo but cant control RGB which is a waste of time IMO - thanks again 4 the support
It is strange if so whether you do not work as three fans under the pc case for exhaust.
Hot air rises mate the bottom 3 fans should always be an intake to provide cool air and top and rear as exhaust. Regards
I did a test in a Linn Li Lancool 2 with bottom fans as exhaust. Most current GPUs push air into the GPU air cooler., not pulling air away from the cooler and board. Setting the bottom fans as exhaust totally choke out the GPU by exhausting air from 3 front intakes and basically fighting the GPUs fans. This causes a deadspace of no air to cool the GPU and it will just climb in temperature.
Totally agree 👍
does this case come with fans included in the box?
Hi mate no it doesn't come with any fans at all
Atleast I’m not the only one that thought I went to the gym when I moved my pc to my desk

The UPS driver looked PISSED when he hauled the box up to my door
why not push /pull with the AIO on top? I'm upgrading to this case as well from a TU150 and have a 5800x and a TUF 6800XT. The TU150 just doesn't have the air volume...
@bill Foresman 10 fans Is plenty already and the temps are great although it would look pretty nice 👍thanks 4 the support and appreciate your opinion
how would you explain this? because the topmount would mean that the 70°C GPU heat is pulled due those fans instead of the fresh air from outside. curious!
True that is happening but the 3 side fans as intake inputting much more cool air which is equalling it out as a worst case and actually providing enough cool air with the bottom intakes to show a benefit. It's also a question of how much of that air is being extracted through the rear exhaust too.
I have ordered the lian li o11d evo mid-tower for my 4090 build is it best to have the aio at the top with fans exhaust?
Hi Marine - personally I think.so yes then having the bottom front and bottom as intake. Hope it goes well good luck and would love to see it once done.

Great video. I have my AIO setup as exhaust on the top and the 6 side/bottom fans as intake. I'd be interested to see your fan curves in iCUE. Currently, as soon as I start any game my PC sounds like its going to take off. I'm not sure what to set as the sensor for the AIO and the commander fans to make sure I get the temps in check and fans not having to go so fast. Currently, just using the default "quiet" setting for all fans in iCUE.
I set up same as you mate for fans 6 intake and 4 exhaust fans with custom curves and sensor set as cpu package temp mate 👍 I really appreciate you taking time to comment and watch. Thanks
one thing to know, take in environment, but intake must be on bottom, cool air falls, for rad never pull warmer air through it=)

hey man I showed u the temps and I had my rad side mounted for 12 months - Rad at the top is cooler I do get what your saying and thanks for the comment regards
@@TechCheckUK what were ur temps at idle like for side mount? do u remember?
Idle side mounted was 46c and now its 42c and underload 6-7c difference I think its due to the lack of cool air on side.intake and now no rad there's a greater volume of air circulating the case I agree air Is like water it follows the path of least resistance so top mounted should be warmer due to gpu but its not. The only trouble with your tests is that the Radiator/Fan Configuration changed. The Side being "Pull" and the Top being "Push". So although you changed the Positioning you should have kept the Rad/Fan Configuration the same.
In my mind it results in the results being Null and Void unfortunately. Which is a shame considering all the work you went through.
Nice build and case though. Thanks.
ps. And yes, I know it's an old Video but I've only just Subscribed to your Channel.
Yea it was alot of work and I didn't notice untill after looking at the video - interesting tho I actually went back and changed it back and it was on a 3 run average 1 degree different so the mistake didn't make much difference in the long run But that being said if u gunna do it do it right. Thanks for the sub and the 2nd chance 😁
Push or pull is negligible. The fans have to overcome the same resistance
Agreed
@@get2choppa This is what happens when software engineers talk fluid dynamics. Pushing through the fins is better.
I always prefer to push than pull but all depends on case and lots of other variables involved fans etc.
I have the same case, but my Kraken X is 280mm, so I need to install like 7:52 because is a bit smaller than yours.
@Miguel - Glad all went well and im sure that looks really good too :)
@@TechCheckUK Waiting for for a upgrade GPU :D, Going to send the photo to you check

what about 3 bottom intake, 3 top aio intake and 3 side exhaust?
@Christos Chris hot air rises so u want to try and work with it as much as possible 4 optimum airflow. But u do you my man and see what is best for you 👍
What would happen if you did one more fan on the left wall of the case? And which orientation would you put the fan in if you were to put one on the left wall? Would appreciate any help!
@Isaac Adelson it's a max of 3 fans on the side and top and bottom so not sure what you mean my friend? If they was room for one more you would always make they are all the same that way the air isn't fighting. The aim with fans is to support the natural flow as it will always follow the path of least resistance just like water. Many thanks gareth 👍
I ended up putting one there as an exhaust, 10 in total, 4 exhaust & 6 intake
Try to do top and bottom 6 fans intake and side radiator 3 fan exhaust
This goes against the natural flow of resistance which doesn't make any sense 🤔
My 011 and 9 fans the pc runs loud is there any tips u can give me to fix this problem
@mike smoove what rpm u set them at? And what temps.u getting?
Try this budget whilst effective set up please :)
Medium size case. Single gpu, single hdd, or ssd. Average set up.
2 fans in front , 1 at the back.
1 fan in the middle attached to Processor Heatsink Evo 212 v2 /stock fan = 40 euros
Fan controller box to set fans speed at 50% for silenced operation when not playing = 26 euros
Arctic F12 fans. 7 euros each.
Cheers.
What am I testing? In what case as the results would fluctuate massively mate 🤔
@@TechCheckUK Come on mate , you can do it!
Just one budget friendly whilst effective air cooling set up test in your stunning studio please :)))
@@maximolotov you want me.to do it the lian li Xl case?
@@TechCheckUK nah , of course not.
In some average size PC case please.
I did a build last week in a game max blackhole mid tower case and it had a vetroo cpu tower cooler and 3 x 120mm rgb fans that will be out on Sunday
How about a non xl lian li o11? What’s the best config? I wanted to do a push pull config, where should I put my AIO? Side or Top?
from my results the top as exhaust was much better - thanks for your time and good luck
Hey great vid Do u recommend Arctic P12 for the case fans?
Yeah there really nice budget fans that perform well I have nicer had any issues at all mate 👍
I have my radiator set up side mount with both push and pull.
@Rick Leathley nice man I'm sure yours will be all good. PP good combo 👌
@@TechCheckUK your original o11 XL build helped me a lot. Fist PC I have built in 12 years so I needed the refresher. Keep the vids coming!
It's good to know they are helping people - hopefully brush up on the editing skills add an overhead camera and wireless lav mic and we are getting there 😀 thanks 4 tge support means alot
Can you try push pull in these configs as well?
Thanks for the question - u have 80 mm clearance from inside the top of the case to the top of the MB so no you cant as the fans are 25mm thick so max radiator thickness would be 30mm. I didnt want PP if I could only do it on the side. regards Tech Check
also the LL have the corsairs smashed because they daisy chain
I agree that less words is always a positive
Just wondered if you side mount the rad is there enough room to push/pull the fans and does that make much of a difference..?
cheers
@Darrenn yeah u can push pull on side mount and that would also benefit the temps with more airflow better cooling too. 3 fans and rad at the front and 3 fans behind the motherboard tray. Regards and good question thanks 😊
@@TechCheckUK oh ok thanks for taking the time to answer 👍
@@darren715 no problem thanks for watching 👍
ok, usually i dont comment on videos , but i do havea suggestion for you , i tested it out , and i get another -5C cooler overall ( gpu and cpu) when computer sits on the floor , not on the table. it makes sense because on ground levels , the air is very cold compared to desk surface. give it a go , and you will thank me later
Hi pal I agree but my pc I'd situated on a purpose built shelf, I agree the temps lower down will be cooler as hot air rises. I also explained it will be different outcome for different situations. Thank you
Hi how is fan place on your radiator , will buy next week that Lian Li case
@Bengt Olsson just as normal long screws thought fan into rad and then short screws through top of case into other side of rad. It's a great case mate I'm doing another one this evening for a customer 👍
@@TechCheckUK great , how the fans blow which way in or out
Bottom are intake side is intake top is exhaust and rear is exhaust mate 👌
@@TechCheckUK thanks, will be white or silver, black, my fans is black rgb not decided yet. have great evening mate
not gonna lie i truly wished to see the liquid temp because i have my nzxtz73 top mounted with 3 intake fans and 6 exhaust and the max i got on the liquid was 40c and on cpu 5950x was 74 but the gpu is very comfy it hits max 40
Good Temps :)
So better to have it top mounted? Have NZXT Z73 but like Push Pull set up , currently side mounted with NZXT fans/QL120. Worth changing to top mount which maybe tight fit?
100 better at top mate yeah
@@TechCheckUK guess ill be tearing down again and re route/try to push pull if not just use ql120 and nzxt cooler
@@TechCheckUK should I use nzxt fan on the aio instead of ql120 since mounting top? Should exhaust run at higher rpm ie intakes at 800-1000 and exhaust at 1250-1500 pending load/temp
@@Kaijiro____93 do u really need push pull at the top? I get really good temps with ql120 and it's on a 5950x
@@TechCheckUK 10900k. I just feel QL attached to NZXT Aio won’t be effective alone. Could attach top nzxt fans with nzxt aio and see how it goes. If not attached QL bottom of aio with nzxt top aio.
Its probably worth a try if i get additional 6 deg or so down in temp
Question :). The QL120 Are they really good Radiator fans , is the airflow strong enough ? I bought 10 of these fans debating myself on the radiator and yes my 360 radiator is mounted on top of the lian li XL
Great question and the 100% answer is they are not the best RAD fans as the static pressure created is less than ML120s for example but I use on a 360 rad to cool my 5950x and have no issues at all 😀 optimally the better the static pressure the better the performance when it comes to rads regards and thanks for asking and i hope this put your mind to rest as they will be fine.
Thanks for the video. Question though, can you fit a 60mm rad to the top with push pull config without hitting the motherboard?
Thanks for the question - u have 80 mm clearance from inside the top of the case to the top of the MB so no you cant as the fans are 25mm thick so max radiator thickness would be 30mm mate regards Tech Check
@@TechCheckUK Damn not what I hoped for. I appreciate the answer though, so thanks!
This is a real noobish question here, but would a water cooler be necessary for this case. Especially for someone like me who has no plans to overclock, and doesn't really plan on doing any heavy gaming in the near future? Would an air cooler or even a stock cooler be sufficient for keeping good temperatures?
@Dylancouger an air cooler would be fine mate as long as you have sufficient air intake. Also the choice of cpu would be crucial here also. BUT all in all an air cooler would be fine 🙂 thanks 4 the question and hopefully you will check out loads of other vids on the channel 👍
@@TechCheckUK
Thanks for the reply, just subscribed and I really like the channel. As far as CPU choice, I was somewhat looking at this one AMD Ryzen 5 5600X. However, I haven't even settled on whether I want to go Intel or AMD, so I'm just researching and watching a lot of vids right now before I make my choice.
5600x or 11700k is both great options pal and thank you 😊
What about in the inverted build? I have a 12900 and a 3090FE in an inverted build. The CPU only goes past 50C When running emulators. The GPU though, runs 70-75 and fans don’t seem to make much of a difference to it other than making loud noises when on turbo!
The Fe 3090 at 75c is good and tbh standard temps - personally biggest change u can make is to change thermal pads and repaste the gpu. I saw a 9c difference when I did this on the FE card.
Weird results, have the Z73 360 with a 5950x and did the exact same test and had literally no difference in temps ??? Plus I had cooler Idle temps (min) temps vs this example by 3c and my max temps were about the same plus or minus a degree cooler than yours so average a 3c cooler MAX temps. This was the exact same top mounted or side mounted? Wonder what is restricting your setup??? Plus this must be a ting, because I've got the Dark hero MB 64gb ram, Plus you should have the advantage as I live in Australia and ambient temps where hovering around the 23c inside. I'm thinking this may be down to the fact I had a different thermal compound (Kryonaut Extreme) maybe, just maybe???
Thanks 4 the comments, my studio is actually in my cabin outside in the garden and I have a wood burner in there which gets quite warm so sometimes feels like Australia tbh. I can only go my results mate and for me the top mount was much better. There are variables such as roo. Temp, cpu paste, graphics card type and fan speed that could impact thermals - I always advise people to try different scenarios and find what works best for them 😉 thanks for your feedback 👍
@@TechCheckUK You're welcome, thank you for the video! It's a good one, people gotta realize how much effort goes into testing like this in full cases! It's a fair wack of work! Subbed BTW :D
I don't know if I should get this case or the Dynamic EVO. I know both are good but I wonder if the XL is worth the extra bucks.
BTW, I saw in another youtuber's video that putting the GPU in a vertical position helps lower it's temperatures when the top radiator is used as intake. Were you able to test that by any chance?
The dynamic case offers more layouts mate, it all depends on space you have and what you want to do. It will also depend on gpu if it has a pass through or not. I personally found this orientation worked best for me and I have upgraded to 4090 strix. Both beautiful cases and can't go wrong with either one. Thanks for watching I appreciate your support 🙏
