I met Larry Dunn in 1976 at a Hotel in NYC where I worked as a room service waiter. I delivered his meal and left, and I decided to check the signature to see who he was, when it read "Dunn", I freaked out, I went back, knocked on the door and asked "Are you LARRY DUNN, from Earth Wind and Fire" he said "Yes" my I hit the ceiling, I was 20 years old. Couldn't believe I had met one of my favorite all time keyboard idols. Would you believe, he gave me two tickets for EWF event in Madison Square Garden. I will forever remember both him and how kind and awesome he was to me. God bless him

Larry, you guys were doing God's work, as I'm sure you certainly must realize by now. The music of Earth, Wind, and Fire kept me positive, until I could find myself. That positive message that you're music always had gave me such inspiration. Thank you.

My man Larry, I play bass and drums now, but I played baritone horn bass AND treble clef and yes, they used to allow you to take the Instruments home back in the day. Yep, loaner instruments. And you’re preaching Larry about the young generation. I remember Larry telling me exactly what he just said. He told me “ I’m not a singer OR writer per sae, I’m more of an arranger”, true story. And finally, GOD and the Universe brought all of you and EWF together, thank GOD!

I remember that fro Larry had...I love to hear these stories I remember Quincy telling these same stories of being young traveling with Count Basie at like 15-16. I thank God "a whole lot bunch" as my niece used to say for musicians. Where would we be without music it is the best form of relaxation and celebration in my opinion...With all that said RIP to Maurice White a real musical genius...

Even tho I'm a bass player, I was always drawn to synthesizers. Larry Dunn was the 1st keyboardist I listen to that make synthesizers so melodic and beautiful. Glad he's back with EWF. He and Jeff Lorber are my favorite synth players of all time.

Imagine all the youngsters that got lost when he said turn the turntable down from 33 1/3 to 16 RPMs. Man who remembers that switch on the side it went from 78 to 16? My pops still has his 78s...

Yep, I remember those days too. Nowadays a turntable is seen as something you _scratch_ records on instead of _listening_ to records. I've always found that to be kind of symbolic in a bad way. Artists putting their heart and soul into a record, only to have someone scratch it and call _that_ music.

Great interview. Interesting how Larry talks about astrology as per Maurice White. Gemini and Sagittarius are complete opposites but connect on another level. EWF was the bomb. When music was real without cellphones and distractions. Today's music don't cut it. All machines and no talent.
