Lyrics:
Many faces listen to the sound
Different places, span the globe around
Finding traces true in everyone
No there's nothing new, under the sun
Many faces listen to the sound
Different places, span the globe around
All the races, forever speeding up
Now fulfillment of the loving cup
Music video by Earth, Wind & Fire performing Faces (Audio). (C) 1980 Columbia Records, a division of Sony Music Entertainment Видеоклипы
2 years ago my wife was in the hospital after having surgery for a glioblastoma. At my request, Mr Phillip Bailey called my wife and spoke with her ! She unfortunately passed away only months later, but she was extremely delighted when he took the time to offer her some words of encouragement and wisdom! He is a wonderful human being and an extremely talented musician!
There's so much going on in this music. To play stuff like this requires high talent and great musicianship. Not only the album is underrated (though many of their most popular songs originate from this album), but THIS song in particular is just insane craftmanship that is heavily underrated. You never hear this on the radio, yet it's an amazing song.
Definitely one of their finest tracks.
If you can't Hear The Artist That's Going Into This peice , I Feel sad.
@@merchantsmithimages full blast you can hear everything! Brilliant, my ex didn't like it. EX! Ha! Ha!
Stupendous Earth Wind and Fire...almost 50 year's of loving this band......this is why, no one else like them....Brilliant, every single one of them....
I have to disagree that most of their popular (or well-known) songs "originate from this album". Only one really and I have most of them going back to 1974.
heavily underrated EWF composition by the late, great Maurice White.
Master musicianship by the greatest band in the land……….Forever!!!!!!
Verdine is going in on that Fender Bass!
#GOAT
That bass line is EVERYTHING.
That tempo!! ...My God. EWF is awesome..
I was only 12 years old when this piece of music hit me right in the heart. (1980.) Forgetting everything i thought music was.
Really? I was 13 when I obtained it on tape back in 1993 during the holidays
THIS is an example of what one would "see" and hear at their live concerts! PURE groove, musicianship, and TALENT!!
This is a great example of the incredible work by Maurice White. Super creativity to say the least! I wish that they would have done a solid jazz album
This album meant even more to me when i made my 1st U S Navy cruise to Asia and the far East, Africa, Kenya and Australia. The world is beautiful and the people of the world are as well.
❤❤❤😊😊
Greatest band of all time!
There is there is no other BETTER, HB
Yes The Greatest Band Ever created 💓
Earl Bishop You can only dream this sound as a musician.
Maurice White on drums here, wow!!
Fred White
Andrew Woolfolk and
Don Myrick rest in peace amen and amen
It just doesn’t get any better than EW&F showing their Jazz roots on this monster jam. Fiery solos from Marlo Henderson (guitar), Larry Dunn (piano), Micheal Harris (trumpet) & Donald Myrick (saxophone).
One of my favourites from one of the greatest bands of that era.
Who is Marlo Henderson? He's never played in EWF. The guitarists in this album was Johnny Graham and Al McKay
Who played drums on this?
probably roland bautista on guitar because he came back and replaced al mckay after the first half of the album.
@@iniuram8231 Roland Bautista didn’t play guitar on ‘Faces’. He didn’t rejoin the band until ‘Raise’.
The guitarists credited on the album are Al McKay, Johnny Graham, Steve Lukather and Marlo Henderson.
The guitar solo was not played by Al McKay because l asked him and he said that he didn’t play it. The style of play definitely wasn’t Johnny Graham’s either and we all know Lukather’s signature sound.
On the remastered album release, Philip Bailey confirms my long held belief that the solo was played by Henderson with his comments in the liner notes. I believe due to band politics, Henderson never received credit for that solo, in fact no one is credited for that guitar solo on the album.
The rhythm guitarists on that track were definitely Al McKay and Marlo Henderson, who added those other rhythmic textures and finally the killer guitar solo.
@@massimodigregorio8608
The late Marlo Henderson (RIP) was an awesome session guitarist, who also played on EW&F’s ‘I Am’ before playing on ‘Faces’. He’s credited as one of the four guitarists on the ‘Faces’.
His credits as a studio session guitarist speak for themselves. Google his credits.
A very underrated album. One of my favorites.
Faces Races Places Doweeeee III ayyyyyyyyy
Timeless music...that running bass, the horns, percussions...everything just wonderful to hear anytime
A classic, underrated, and underappreciated double album - I'm listening to the track now on my original-pressing vinyl! EWF 4ever!!!
❤❤❤😁😁⭐⭐⭐
Every high school and college band should be required to play this.
Mine did . Our band director was a HUGE EWF fan. Every year we played a new EWF tune and we BROUGHT THE HOUSE DOWN!!
Faces was the last great EWF album & 1 of the best albums they ever did.
Yes this album was greatly underrated this is Earth Wind & Fire at its best
Very Underrated indeed.. they made so many great albums and still do to this day!
Raise was much better ...But after Raise forget it...
Last album with Al McKay. After that it was Earth, Wind & Fire 2.0 with other co-arrangers, co-producers, until the tragedy of Electric Universe. The decline to Millennium was the beginning of the end. Avatar, The Promise and Illumination were never part of any legacy, never performed live beyond a few instant shows. Sad really; no Maurice live. Faces was a peak not seen at the time, latterly recognized for its quality. Still, the baddest band on God's green earth!
@@NigelCampbell I think the peak was "All n All"...Faces was the beginning of the slide...
the all time master piece by Earth Wind and Fire
Tremendous talent. Jesus.
I have never heard a band that sounds so good. EWF is truly the best period...
Yes 1973-1981 Best Time.
The is a fine example of the kind of musicianship we saw in bands then that we just do not see today in popular music.
Faces Places Races, The Greatest Band Ever ❤️😎😇
DEM HORNS THOUGH!!!!!
Maurice called this as his favourite EWF lp. 'Faces' is my favourite track on it.
I was in jr.hs/hs band in the late 70's/early 80s and listening to EWF and Chicago. every year our band director had us marching to a EWF tune. Wonderful memories!
This is insane!!! Who can put something like this together?! It's very hard to do!! Noshay on the other groups because they all were badass that was my time! But Maurice White said in an interview he did not want to be a regular r&b group he was thinking way ahead of his time! Just like Jimi Hendricks!! That was something a lot of groups weren't doing at that time! Except the Parliament funkadelic! And crossing over was hard to do a few black groups we're able to do it. But it was earthwindandfire that set the tone! They had great marketing techniques that put them over the top! The drummer and his set descending into the air Verdine White playing the guitar upside down suspended in the air. Them coming out of the blossoming pyramid! The list goes on David Copperfield was included in a lot of their stage acts as well!! And they continue to still dazzle audience today!❤ I love this group 👍👍👍
This was probably the best EWF Album ever! My Favorite! Extremely underrated work! The best Funk Jazz instrumental ever! Faces!
No way it's their best....
New World Symphony isn’t bad either
Actually as an instrumental Faces is at times boring...
We're talking about pure EWF jazz right here! Their disco/funk stuff is pretty good, but their jazz tunes are monumental.
Zanzibar is much better
@@freein2339 Yeah, but this is still pretty damn good! ;)
@@Raleigh718 It gets boring and the beat gets dropped...
@@freein2339 I hear you. I love Zanzibar, and Africano/Power on Gratitude, and quite a few others out there, too...but I think Faces is just another example of EWF pushing the limits past what they did before, and proving how good they were doing it. Some loved the results, some didn't - it took me a while to warm up to Serpentine Fire when it came out. :)
But no matter what, you could always hear the musicianship that it took to put out that sound. To me, that's EWF. 🎵🎷🎸🎺🎹🪘
@@Raleigh718 No question about the musicianship but Faces was over produced
Where would we be without ewf? Oooooh I needed that !
musical magic right here
RIP, Maurice.
NICE OLD SCHOOL CLASSY JAZZY EARLY 80'S SONG FROM E.W.F.FROM BACK IN THE DAYS #1.
Mixed with jazz funk Latin rhythms
What a musical journey !!!!!!!
"Totally Iconic And Amazingly Unique"
I definitely... remember when my Dad brought this Album soon as it came out...& it was a serious Double Albums... BEAUTIFUL!!!
I love this album so much.
And...I love it too Ruth Melendez
Ditto
Phenomenal
Tuff "E"Nuff... Plenty of Fiya. I Remember clearly steppin' out to buy the album "Faces" in 1979 / 80 and knowing that I would be buying a true Masterpiece !!
Je possède le 33 trs depuis plus de 40..ans..ce morceau est pour moi le meilleur de l'album, malgré la qualité des autres..!!!
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
R.I.P. Maurice White
5:04 - 5:48 best part
How can this albumn not be promoted some of their best work
It was promoted...The public just didn't take to it like previous albums...
@@freein2339 I heard it wasn't promoted, some of their best work can't believe people didn't like it
@@chantellerogers4736 It was promoted . the buying public just didn't love it...I think the problem was too many cooks in the kitchen..Too many pianists , too many horns , too many guitarists , too many writers who wrote for EWF instead of more songs written by EWF...After "All N All" this was the norm....
@@freein2339 I don't remember any of the songs from Faces being played on the radio unlike their other albums. I believe if Faces was played more it would have been more successful
@@chantellerogers4736 I heard "let Me Talk" , "You" , "And Love Goes On" on the radio...The album was a let down after All N All and I Am....It was over produced , over written , over played and too many songs that sound alike....it was an OK album....not great...
A career/talent defining track. Cheers!
They reached the mountain top with this title track...
I bought this album..as I had heard let me talk ...listened to it..ah yes..normal good ewf..then this. Blew me away.
Oh man that horn section is so damn tight 🔥🔥 best brass section ever!!
They are tight...
E,W &F none better
This is a great funky song, with a great length (what a classic).
Long time no hear, this just cheered me up no end ☺☺☺
MY FAVORITE BAND PLAYIN MY FAVORITE KIND OF JAZZ MUSIC.MEANING ANY KIND OF JAZZ MUSIC FROM MY FAVORITE BAND IS MY FAVORITE JAZZ MUSIC.
Absolutely brilliant!
Indeed
It was a TRAVESTY that Columbia did not promote this album more!!!!!! This was and is a BEAUTIFUL album!!!! GREAT SONGS EVERYWHERE!! A TRUE SUMMER SOUNDTRACK IF THERE EVER AND WAS ONE!!!!!!
true EWF fans knew ;0
Yes indeed... definitely
The capitalistic and short-sighted nature of profit over principle influenced the direction of Columbia. Instead transcending the trends, they simply decided to follow the market analytics which inevitably short-circuited Colombia’s collective potential.
"It was a huge letdown that our audience didn't respond to it...."...Maurice White
"For all its grandeur and glory , Faces was not a financial success for us - and it wasn't because we didn't get the promotional street support from Columbia records"....Phillip Bailey
perfect

Maurice White created a Kemetic Orchestra.
Cut time masters🔥
Great.....!!!!
Super dooper musicianship and production!
#OdedFriedGaon #OdedMusic #Audioded
I miss real bands with real musicians with real talent like Earth Wind & Fire. Now days you have a lot of pop stars who can not sing and don't play instruments. There singing is hyped up by electronics instead of real singing talent. Sad.
For real...
Epic🙏🏽
Is this the 12 inch version without the interlude intro and closing? 🤔
I like how they held it at the ilend
I mean end
The Wiz!!!
This use to scare me as a kid😭😭

Yeah but the systems in charge dont play fair. Remember that shit
Don't even try to outthink EWF.
13 thumbs down? WHY?
Unenlightened people, who only want the hits.
