Hi, I've just watched your vlog refresh my memory. The black on white effect looks good but I think it just needs a bold injection of colour. I think the backsplash at about 6:50 would be really good as it is bright white & as others have said you can get a pop of color with accessories, i.e., towels, wall hangings, decorative containers, flowers, plants, etc. You have done an amazing job!
That was the original color and I just ran out of paint and never got back to get that finished. But you make a good point and I do like the color. I also agree on the bold injection too.

I really enjoy seeing the updates and watching the space transformed. I do have to object to the plan of covering up that whole stone wall with bamboo, though. It will be too much. Keeping the contrast of the bamboo bar with the plain gray wall would be much nicer looking.

I love the last one at the 8:39 mark the brown and white leaf pattern. You can use yellow or blue or other light colors on dishtowels and potholders to add some color to your kitchen
at 7:18 there is a small square tile example with white, greys and blue in it. That would tie in with the white floor and dark cupboards and benches. Would also give you the blue you mentioned.
I might just do that. I do want to see that area and get to know it. Are you interested to maybe collaborate on a vlog or show me the points of interest. I want to do more travel videos too
Man, your project has been coming together very nicely. I think the bamboo surrounding the external wall in the yard will be nice as the bricks look isn't exactly pleasant.
Oooo! Nice job! As far as the tile suggestion, I would choose the 6.42 mark Turquoise tile to pull in the parrots pattern and up the level of grandeur. You can line the top with white smooth tiles for brightness and to frame in the turquoise and gold / brown tiles. This will add the brightness and really look expensive while making the parrot pattern look expensive as well. Love the colors! Can't wait to see which way you went! :D
Hi D. Place is looking good ! I know you didn’t want any more black, but I liked at 6:40 the white tiles with black and gray geometric design. I think they’d look stylish as backsplash and go with the modern look. I’d replace a few single tiles here and there randomly with a solid black or solid gray as accents.
Nice tile selection they have. I'd probably go with solid white and maybe a black or dark gray grout. And maybe do a pattern or mosiac tile above the stove only with white on each side.
I love the aqua blue tile at 8:03, just above the white one you were looking at. That teal blue would make it pop and also goes well with dark brown. 😊
Hi Michelle. 8.03 noted. I will be going there again and buy a few pieces to bring home before I finally decide. Thank you for the suggestion!! There was a teal I remember was it near the 8.03 too??

Great video, I just love the granite counter tops, my trade was marble & granite masonry, and used to make and install granite counter tops, also marble tops etc, anything to do with those stones except monumental masonry, tiling too. I would stay away from any more dark colours as like you say will be too dark. Some really nice looking tiles there, but I wouldn't dare choose lol, too many choices !
The tile that is made of a number of small squares @ 7:04 closest to you for the kitchen. Those are predominately a brighter tile with some darker elements to compliment the counter tops.
Man,you've done a great job with this place. I would love to see or hear what the landlord thinks. I don't like tiles that are too busy. I would pick something light to compliment the floors. At 7:15, the parallel lines might give the illusion of more space. I can't wait to see more.👍🏽🏝🇵🇭
It's coming along nicely. I noticed the kitchen sink still doesn't have plumbing. You also said the stove wasn't connected yet. You've been there for a few months now. Where are you cooking/eating?
The coffee pot slows me to cook noodles and coffee. The parts to finish, I just need the cash so probably in a few weeks when I get me next check. I also eat fruit and there is street food every day and every night near where I am and even the little mom and pop one will have their own delivery.
The shiny tile will show every drip and drop on the tile. You will want a matte finish to hide the spots unless you mop every day. Just from experience.
Installing 8 foot walls would be nice. It would block some of the views of the other buildings giving the out of the city feel. For the tile they all looks fine. My thought is used 2-3 inch squares and then having longer rectangle of a color like a stripe across the wall. Maybe the yellow your talking about. The smaller tiles to not add to much color something neutral like a off white or something like that. You should lay out some tile at the store and see what you like for patterns.
I like the with and grey square tiles @ 7:03. It's light enough to brighten up the space like you wanted. It looks fairly modern and the darker tiles will tie in to the darker look of the cabinets. I also like the tiles that you show briefly @ 7:30. It's the white and grey/black tiles in and arrow (?) design. I'm not exactly sure how to describe it but it's in the top row if that helps
What about the seashell shaped tile you were looking at? Did it have texture? The whole house is looking amazing, and the bar. Will you plant something along the inner wall, like banana or bamboo, so that eventually it will grow up and provide a bit more privacy, sound dampening, dust mitigation, shade, etc.?
Off white tile and not the small squares the medium size rectangular. Zero edge, no grout showing because it for sure will get dirty and we all know how hard grout is to clean. The tiles have to have base that is completely flat. That's the hard part because if the base has a shallow or dip the larger tiles could break/crack.

But that is just me..I love a bit of gardening😉
I have been thinking of a planter along the wall also at the bottom with colorful tropical plants
its looking great. thanks for sharing your remodeling with us.
Nice to see you again Martin!! Thanks for watching!
Fantastic from the beginning when I first seen you moved in till now you really come a long way and it looks very very beautiful keep up the good work
Thank you Manuel!! I remember you. Thanks again
I love the last one at the 8:39 mark the brown and white leaf pattern. You can use yellow or blue or other light colors on dishtowels and potholders to add some color to your kitchen
Okay noted 8.39. I will be going back and will look at it. Thanks for the suggestion
at 7:18 there is a small square tile example with white, greys and blue in it. That would tie in with the white floor and dark cupboards and benches. Would also give you the blue you mentioned.
Awesome thank you I will check it out!1
the house will be a beautiful little palace for sure. love it ❤️ SUBSCRIBED ✔︎
Thanks for the kind words and thanks subscribing my friend
Good job, can't wait to see what's next.
Yes. It's just taking a while.
Wow nice I can see the changes, the before and after is pretty amazing 😍
Thank you my friend. You live here in the Philippines?
@@Ex-Pensive_Expat Welcome, I'm From South part of Philippines I'm from Laguna.
I've heard that's a nice area. I'll be down there eventually to see for myself
@@Ex-Pensive_Expat Your welcome Sir, you are all welcome to visit our beloved province Laguna, especially my hometown San Pablo City.
And if you're here the bricks are everywhere and just so common
It is really looking good. Can not wait to see it when you are finished.
Thanks again Larry. When are you coming for a visit? lol
Love what you’ve done with the place. 👍
Thank you Dolores!!
Nice transformations!! Great Job!!
Thank you!!
Great stuff!💪
Glad you liked it!
Oooo!
Thank you for the ideas and watching the videos. I truly appreciate it!!
It's looking very nice! Maybe a tile that's not too busy. Just enough design or contrast to enlighten the area. 😊
That's a good idea!
Hi D. Place is looking good ! I know you didn’t want any more black, but I liked at 6:40 the white tiles with black and gray geometric design. I think they’d look stylish as backsplash and go with the modern look. I’d replace a few single tiles here and there randomly with a solid black or solid gray as accents.
Hey Frank Thanks for the suggestion. I will check that out
Nice tile selection they have. I'd probably go with solid white and maybe a black or dark gray grout. And maybe do a pattern or mosiac tile above the stove only with white on each side.
Okay!! Thank you for the suggestion. I'm so glad I asked people to comment
Yes. My comment was a bit misleading. Teal/Aqua blue are the same in my eyes. You can see just a glimpse of it next to a darker blue.
I'm pretty sure I know the one you meant
@@Ex-Pensive_Expat looking forward to seeing what you choose. 😊
Then I'll expect your opinion!! lol
My friend very impressive,
Thank you very much
@@Ex-Pensive_Expat I will say this out of all the bloggers that I have watched, Which I have canceled all but one, That's Robs coffee shop, You seem to be have a great experience there, I will be there in July, Would enjoy hearing your story in person, Thanks for the reply...Scott
Absolutely Lets stay in touch. My face book is the same. Ex-Pensive_Expat
6:23 I noticed your 2 babies they're so cute
Haha.. Yes they fill my days with cuteness
I think my first stop in retirement will be PH...... your yard is incredible! I definitely would have an above ground pool.
I was thinking if they gave me a full 5 year lease I would build a pool
@@Ex-Pensive_Expat AWesome....ill keep following you...this is the route i want to follow. Ofc with the odd jaunt into cities to purge the demons!
Absolutely one go the good thing about where I live also
Great video, I just love the granite counter tops, my trade was marble & granite masonry, and used to make and install granite counter tops, also marble tops etc, anything to do with those stones except monumental masonry, tiling too. I would stay away from any more dark colours as like you say will be too dark. Some really nice looking tiles there, but I wouldn't dare choose lol, too many choices !
In the video that was only maybe 10% of the tiles to choose from
place is looking good dude!
Thank you Sir
Hey, boss man. bay area buddy here. Hope all is good. Headed over in 9 months. Got delayed due to work.
We'll see ya when you get here. Work delayed me the first time too
@@Ex-Pensive_Expat I’ll buy the 1st round of San Miguel’s! 😎
Very nice!
i used a lot of tiles but different ones of the same size.
Nice. Thank you for the comment
The tile that is made of a number of small squares @ 7:04 closest to you for the kitchen.
Those are predominately a brighter tile with some darker elements to compliment the counter tops.
Good idea. Thank you!!
Man,you've done a great job with this place. I would love to see or hear what the landlord thinks. I don't like tiles that are too busy. I would pick something light to compliment the floors. At 7:15, the parallel lines might give the illusion of more space. I can't wait to see more.👍🏽🏝🇵🇭
Okay Noted. I will relook at 7.15. Thanks for the suggestion. More space? Never thought about that. Cool
Been watching and following your vids, I enjoy them! Hoping to retire there, maybe in your neighborhood! Keep up the great vids!
Thank you! Let me know if I can help. If you're coming let me know
It's coming along nicely.
I also eat fruit and there is street food every day and every night near where I am and even the little mom and pop one will have their own delivery.
so MANY choices for tiles. home depot has a dozen.... the more you show of living in the Philippines, more i want to move there
Yes!! A lot more than I realized before I came.
The shiny tile will show every drip and drop on the tile. You will want a matte finish to hide the spots unless you mop every day. Just from experience.
no
Installing 8 foot walls would be nice.
Nice idea I didn't think about that
Awesome video, I like these. Thank you.
Your welcome and thank you!!
coming along great
Thank you!!
See if they have a simple white subway tile for the back splash. timeless look and durability.
I thought about that but a bit concerned there would be too many straight lines?? Do you thin that would be a problem?
Whoa!!!
I seriously underestimated you. I could not do this.
Yes you can my friend. Just takes time and imagination
Okat Thank you much for taking the time to suggest then. I have noted and will be going back in a couple weeks when I'm funded again lol!1
Wow looking good keep up the good work 🇺🇲🇵🇭
Thank you, I will
Great channel
Thank you Lindy! You have a subscriber now. Hahaha
Looks great 😊
Thank you Christine !!
At 845 into the video. The black with yellow tile looks good.
Thank you Craig. I will check that one out.
9:02 I personally liked the blk n white raised tile but I'm not a person for bright🤷😅 i even tint my house windows
I appreciate your opinion . Thanks.
No I haven't planned on anything along the wall except maybe a planter with colorful tropical flowers
Yes the seashell did have texture . I am seriously considering it. I will buy a few and bring them home before I make a final decision
Great work! thanks for the update 😊
Thanks again Lisa!! It's whole new life experience here
Some of those textured tiles can be hard to clean especially round the stove area when oil and stuff can get splash on it
Ahh yes. Good point to keep in mind. Thank you!!
Place is shaping up nice! Strictly my opinion, but for a backsplash I'd go with easy to clean then color.
Thank you for the comment and the suggestion. I hadn't thought about the easy to clean idea
Whatever color you choose just back sure it is easy to clean and wipe down. Some of the raised fancy tiles will be a bitc# to clean
Thank you Mark. Good point!! I hadn't given that much consideration
Loving it!
Thank you Kent !!
Looks so sweet. would it be realistic to survive on $900. monthly there with all expenses.
Exactly. You could live a fine life there
