i live in the apartments next to southshore hospital and the helipad is 50yrds away from my front window i love seeing these guys come and go and they fly in almost any weather to help people they are heros
I wish I knew what Team & what Helicopter Came to My Aide On 10-11-2014!! They Strongly Participated In Saving my life.. That was 2 yrs Ago.. I am a 33 yr old mother of 4 and I suffered a GSW 1mm from my aortic valve and about 1 1/2 inches from my spine.. they were fast & efficient!! They Flew me From Mercy Hospital In Port Huron Michigan to St. Joseph Mercy In Oakland Michigan because our local ER couldn't handle it.. & Oakland could.. I am eternally grateful to all of the Hero's that Saved my Life!! I wish I could Meet them!
It definitely seemed to be longer than any other S.F. departure I've seen and I've seen a fair amount. Normally from the time the engine first starts the helicopter lifts off within 5 minutes. There was a 3rd flight member in the rear cabin. I saw him get in. Either way, I was just really excited to be able to see one of their medevac's in action. It was the first time with my new camera. I wasn't sure how it would come out. I was pretty happy with it. Thanks for your feedback Shawn!!
Mike, thanks for this beautiful shot! For those who love helicopters 10 minutes isn't long time at all :). I cant help myself, but these old Bells are sooo much nicer than the new ugly EC155s :( I'd prefer A109, S76 or EC145, but no one would ever ask me :D
I think this "pose" that they do appears to be an FAA flight check ride--I don't think this was a real mission. It appears it could be at first--a possible "stand by" scenario where they are firing up the helicopter prior to a "launch" go-ahead for a scene response. But then it appears to be way too long of a ascent where they just sit there--could be they were doing maneuvers as part of a check ride competency. There also doesnt appear to be a flight nurse, paramedic, or physician in the back

How did that happen? Was it an accident?

Hi! I'm Shari. Why get rid of those beautiful Bell 430 helicopters and bring in the new EC 155's when the Bell 430's are still working?
