Couldn't believe he was holding that guitar upright with one hand while playing the fret. You know how heavy those the things are? Made everything look so effortless. So much power. Stevie was a force of nature, don't think he could have been anything other than what he became. BTW... The expressions on your face are so telling, at some points I thought I was gonna see tears because he was playing so beautifully, and you felt that more than once. He made that guitar talk as he walked with his back to the crowd. Saw a video of this song performed to a rowdy çlub crowd, could see in his face that his words were falling on some deaf ears. He looked pained, but didn't stop delivering that message of his. You are loved, Stevie, we heard you! 💔💙. ☮️ to all.

I loved this reaction, and this is one of Stevie's best performances of Life Without You, I cried when he died and I played this song.
Some things, the guitar swap at the beginning, of course the music, this is the best 'dialogue' part for him doing this song.
When he played with his teeth, he broke a tooth and kept going, you can see you saying that at the end.

keep in mind this was shot in 1985, prior to him nearly dying while on tour in Europe I believe. he then went to rehab and from that point forward became a big anti drug proponent and prided himself on his sobriety. He urged his audiences to stay away from drugs so you can be there for your brothers and sisters when they need you. His playing was even more crisp and mind blowing prior to his tragic death in a helicopter accident. he truly was one of a kind and certainly one of the greatest to ever pick up a guitar.

Equal parts of God given talent, enormously large hands, passionate love of music, and non stop playing since age 7 to completely blend with his guitar. He can make sounds on the guitar I have never heard before! So many suggestions to offer for more but I will offer just one. Since you mentioned the piano player, you should check out "Couldn't Stand The Weather" from this same concert at the Capitol Theatre. He is to the piano what Stevie is to the guitar. @@roselynadesola566 thank you for your response✌️🦋 and you are correct, such professionalism and ease while having a blast doing what he was on earth to do.🎸 was why he was so mesmerizing and captivating because he can't play without being swept away himself and he takes us all with him. Total commitment on full display. The performance I suggested,Couldn't Stand the Weather, features Reece Wynans on piano but it is definitely a Stevie Ray song. Enjoy🙂 also forgot to mention that Life Without You was a song Stevie wrote for his good friend Charley Wirz, Dallas guitar shop owner, who passed away suddenly. Charley built that white guitar for him that he was playing. Did you notice the guitar switch at the very beginning?

Knowing that Stevie Ray's life was not an easy one starting from a little boy who had an alcoholic abusive father that his brother Jimmy said took it out on Stevie worse than him and he never knew why, to fighting through drug and alcohol addiction ( coming from an abusive home myself we attend to turn to drugs and alcohol to numb the pain) and for Stevie to become a beautiful soul. I heard you say the Bible says so, he's friend that owned a guitar shop where Stevie went said Stevie would come in and he would get out his Bible and they would have a little Bible study there in the shop.

Hi there Roselyn. I hope that this comment finds you Well & at least reasonably Happy too. So, did you even notice that he switched Guitars? If you were to watch this again, SRV starts this song out playing a dark brown guitar and at about 2:00 minutes in his crew help him switch to the White Guitar, that you will then see him playing at about 2:45. This White Guitar has a Name and that name is "Charlie." There's a lot more going on here than meets the eye. Stevie Ray had a close and long time friend that passed away, whose name was "Charlie." SRV wrote this song for this friend and that's who he is speaking with, during this song. Now, SRV's friend, "Charlie" hand built the White Guitar for SRV and that's why it's important that he play this Guitar, for this song and that's also why this Guitar is named "Charlie" as well. So, when you see the Back of this Guitar, you'll notice that it has a graphic on it and this was put there by "Charlie" because it meant something to the both of them. I just thought that you might appreciate knowing some of the background reasons for this Song and so many other things, within it. SRV would pass away himdelf 5 years after this concert. He died in a helicopter crash, after a concert in 1990.
    Keep Smiling Roselyn... Cheers...

@@roselynadesola566 Roselyn, you are of course welcome. I would like to thank you for your response. This often seems to be "The Road, Less Traveled" for most. I suppose I understand, to a degree anyway, as it does involve an extra effort. I simply would like you to know that I appreciate your efforts here.
Once I had learned of all of the particulars that were taking place in this performance, it profoundly changed my perspective on this performance and I thought, by your reaction, that you deserved to know all of these things that go into making this a much more profound performance. Oh, by the way SRV actually lost a tooth while he was hamming it up a bit, playing his Guitar with his teeth. Directly after loosing his tooth, you can see & hear him say into the microphone, "Thanks Charlie."
So, until our paths cross again, I wish You all the best that this Life has to offer. Keep Smiling... Cheers.

He named all of his guitars and the white one that he switched to is named Charlie: it was custom built by a luthier/ good friend named Charlie, i don’t remember his last name. When in fact, the message is pure, true, edifying love.
    Even for our perceived enemy.
I was lost in ignorance, and an enemy of Jesus, until he saved me. Had mercy on me, and showed me the truth.
    Love.
