I was 21 too…think I recorded the Conan performance senior yr college. I remember a friend of mine had an early STD album and man totally different sound.
Remember the days when you and your friends are skating in the park while listening to saves the day and reading thrasher magazine then after skating, you'll go to the local pizzeria and stay there for hours just talking about everything. Damn, miss those days
@@joshginett8328 just saw them two weeks ago in Jersey.... still great after all these years. You should try and see them live again, I'm sure it would be a great experience 👍
2021 gang. I just realized how great... I mean holy shit this is a perfect performance. The crowd, everyone in the band, it IS evident Chris is loving it too. New super fan right here, can’t listen to this album enough at this moment
I was in my early 20s when this came out. I listened to tons of reggae at the time but also listened to the college radio station. This tune, the Shins and a band called Rustic Overtones are the three that stick out from back then. Great times.
Wow, I'm replying to a comment from 11 years ago!! But yeah, I no was just watching it and noticed it was the Braid/Hey Mercedes drummer! For some reason I found it very cool.
ha-its many years later than your comment but i just now in 2021 got a new speaker/sub setup and so i am clicking around youtube listening to different music on it and when that tone change happened, i was like, "what the... "-phew!!
Yeah i was there to in detroit when Saves the day played with Green Day and Blink. It was pretty damn sweet. I like saves the day show a lot better now though. Chris is actually more energetic when he plays guitar.
I can't get over how good the live mix is here. The bass and guitar really comes through, and then the channel change at 1:43! It's my favourite version of the song actually.
That’s Eben D’amico, and he was easily the best part about Saves The Day on the albums he played on, which are Through Being Cool and Stay What You Are. Listen to any song from either of those albums and I guarantee you will love the bass. He was great.
Its actually the drummer from hey mercedes. I saw them live in buffalo just before this performance and he was playing with them and chris mentioned it to the crowd.
@Three1Bravo I disagree. Saves the Day may be called pop-punk today (power pop or pop rock might be a better description), but, in my youth, Saves the Day belonged to the "emo" genre of music. I remember buying their CD's online (from alternative music stores) from under the "emo" section. Besides, as far as I know, there is no official International Board of Genre Naming and Standards, so you are arguing only that you don't think there is an "emo" genre. I do.
i like bands that sound better live then o the cd like last week i saw all time low front row and it sounds way different then at the back thers so much energy and most of the songs they did were better live then on the album
If this song is nothing but "emo" - "emotional" then it wouldn't be one of the best songs written. Emo isn't about being dark .. cutting wrist.. hating life. It was/is nothing but heart felt poetry that somehow kids this day and age turned it around.
Its 2003, Im sitting in my girlfriends room listening to this after downloading it from Limewire. Excited that I just downloaded CKY and the new flip sorry skate video. Just got the razor phone It was all about the moments…
I was 21 when this came out. Still jam it now that I’m 43!
38 here and have been a fan since high school so I’m right with ya!

@@laurend-dm7yl I had an STD that year.
46, still my favorite band

The live mix on this is incredible. Seriously underrated.
Verse guitar too loud
De esser?
One of the best bass performances for a late night show. With high quality headphones it’s an orga$m of sound
The bass fill at 2:12... I could just listen to that looped over and over. Incredible.
The bass writing on this whole album is next level.
Man Chris is something else. He’s just at the front with a mic and makes it looks so natural. It’s evident he’s enjoying himself. I love this band.
one of the greatest song writers in the world, chris conley.
Absolutely bro
Lol no..not really..fckn idiot
for sure... still listening after all these years. I just introduced my 13 y/ o son to STD.. he thinks their music is something special too. crazy
i remember watching this episode of kilborne just to see them
@@joshginett8328 just saw them two weeks ago in Jersey.... still great after all these years. You should try and see them live again, I'm sure it would be a great experience 👍
the bass fills in this song are just so good...aswell as the subtle little guitar bit in the chorus.
2021 gang. I just realized how great... I mean holy shit this is a perfect performance. The crowd, everyone in the band, it IS evident Chris is loving it too. New super fan right here, can’t listen to this album enough at this moment
Bryan, Eben, Ted, Dave, and Chris. I think if this version of Saves the Day reunited, I would follow them around on tour like a Deadhead. A Dayhead.
Technosphile 3 years later and why doesn't this comment have more likes or up votes? one for you sir... because samesies.
Same.
Me too
Same haha
Looks like Broach from Braid on drums.
Still jammin to this nearly 20 years later.
If you’re watching in 2022, you have impeccable taste in music.
2024 still watching
2020 fam?
This is one of the most amazing songs ever created.
Chris is such a good live singer. This whole line up was killing it live.
Man, this bassists knows how to shred.
I was in my early 20s when this came out. I listened to tons of reggae at the time but also listened to the college radio station. This tune, the Shins and a band called Rustic Overtones are the three that stick out from back then. Great times.
This was the best Saves the Day lineup of members.
True story: I won this cd spinning the wheel on the jersey shore boardwalk
The bass player is the star of this song...incredible
I saw STD in 2002 on the pop disaster tour. Chris's majestic swaying was as impressive in real life as in this video.
Also excellent song.
Shoji Ikari this comment right here!!! My first concert ever; blink, Green Day and saves the day opened - what a fantastic show
What a coincidence. I got STD in 2002 on the pop disaster tour.
I love the shirt “you are here” for 2022. For the “modern” day. And to think, 21 years ago…when it took talent to make it onto talk shows.
This is the best Saves the Day lineup the band ever had. The bassist tore ass.
It was nothing but brand new, saves the day and queens of the stone age back then for me. Still is.
Hahaha QOTSA?!
I remember watching this live back in the day and Chris' little smile just always stuck with me. Such a genuinely stoked dude
When I see top albums of the 00's I always look for a Saves the Day one. Yet I find none - and what a shame, How can you beat a pop song like this?
The drummer is Damon Atkinson from Hey Mercedes. He replaced Bryan Newman for a short while. Bryan's drums were surely missed since SWYA.
Wow, I'm replying to a comment from 11 years ago!! But yeah, I no was just watching it and noticed it was the Braid/Hey Mercedes drummer! For some reason I found it very cool.

Hey Mercedes is so dope
Love this band they saved my life ❤
Damn remember when band's used to sound this good?
Nick Chase Now you have to search for it on the underground these days. A sad world we live in...
Some still do. Check out the band Spotlights.
Saves the Day doesn‘t even sound this good anymore!
@@Gretev1 I completely agree. I recently listened to some of their newer stuff. I was like, "wtf???"
@@Gretev1 they dont
That tone change at 1:44 doe...
Brendan Howard I rewatch this all the time just for that part

This band, and this song is amazing.
Nice to Know you to all my friends here in this page.

This performance changed everything for me
I remember watching this when I was a teenager. I’m 37 now and still come back for the chills it gives me.
the bassist is awsome in this song
this song makes me cry because my best friend in the whole world killed himself;
and this was his um funeral song

Snestalgia64 the bass is the best part about this song.
best part of the band. wait hes gone now. and that drummer was a lmazing as well he was filling in cause he was in hey mercedes
+norman smith I knew I recognized that drummer
Superbs bassline

My ultime favorite band. I think they sounded excellent live when I saw them, Chris puts so much emotion into his music when he sings.
Uma das melhores performances que eu já assisti no youtube. O jeito que a voz dele ficou nos vídeos de hoje em dia é triste!
Such an amazing band. Great Performance!
Eben D'Amico and Damon from Braid? Is this perhaps the greatest moment in the history of rhythm sections?
Super solid pocket!!
2019 anyone?
Yes!
Yep!
2020 man
2020
bring me back to 2019
Everything about this performance was solid
I've watched this so many times in the past 4 years.
Make that 10 years.
sickest bassline ...👍
i love how the entire band is like rocking out and moving and then the singer is just kinda standing there... it looks so hilarious!
This might be the best talk show musical guest mixing job ever. Mix is perfect, performance is perfect, song is perfect.
This song always reminds me of lost love of 2002(the one that got away). God I really miss 2002.....
Its actually the drummer from hey mercedes. I saw them live in buffalo just before this performance and he was playing with them and chris mentioned it to the crowd.
holy hell this is so good
Thank you for posting this. They sound so damn good here.
Damone from Braid looks stoked to be playing drums with them
he still has a great voice, id like to hear you come close to sounding that good
great singer. i want this at my funeral hahaha
I JUST LOVE THIS BAND
Incredible!!!
Dang feel old. Seen them when they went on tour for this cd.
This song IS love.
true true...straight from the heart and emotional...what all music is or should be
This is so great. The people literally screaming at the beginning 😂❤️
These guys got me through my adolescence
kicking it oldschool right there the only people left from then is chris and dave
OF YOU THAT NIGHT...!!! 🎶
I miss this line up
Chris, Dave, and Eben and no high pitch voice? These were the golden days of Saves the Day.
100% true!
nice song! really nice, by this song i like this band!
8, enero, 2022 y sigo sintiendo lo mismo por esta banda y esta canción. Se me eriza la piel....
This is a legend
I miss the backing vocals haha. Wicked song though, so damn good!
Agosto del 2001, Radio Doble 99 - Lima, Peru 🇵🇪
chris's appearence has changed alot over the past few years....
Ted's guitar riff at the end is killer
Oh young chris. Awesome!

@neatborrito Its Damon Atkinson. He was in both Braid and Hey Mercedes.
"and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high water mark - that place where the wave finally broke, and rolled back.” -HST

I don't care if Chris is the only real member left, Saves the Day is still incredible:).
the bassline note even make this song richer!
Eben "the heartthrob" d'amico
STD is one of the most influential bands of the last ten years. Fallout boy should thank them every day for existing.
He geeked on the inside when he said getting high in the back room when that one group expressed their happiness getting high in the back room
