I started with the Naturium Vit C serum (L-Ascorbic) but my skin would sting if I used it daily. I went through an entire bottle of the Derma-E vit c without any issues and have now moved up to the Vanicream Vit C Serum (THD). I have no irritation with the inactive forms so I will be sticking with those.
I wish I had stuck to Elizabeth Arden`s Vitamin C and Ceramides capsules. They had Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate all along, and the last two years all the dermatologists point this form of vitamin C as the most effective of the stable ones.
Another great video! You’re correct about the Timeless Vit C. It was too harsh for my very sensitive skin. I’m now using Vanicream Vit C Serum. It may take a bit longer to see results, but I’ve had no adverse skin reactions AND my skin looks super glowy!
Thank you for this deep dive of vitamin C categories. I didn't know that I needed it but ends up that I have learnt new informations about it. I have the 10% timeless one and I don't have issues with it even tho I have sensitive skin and minimal rosecea. When I will finish it I will try the Medik8 C one so I can compare them. If I can avoid the hotdog smell from timeless, I would be so grateful.
Thank you for sharing. I changed my vitamin c to a Korean vitamin c that has sodium ascorbyl phosphate. I have menopausal acne with post-acne pigmentation. I was not sure this was the right one but now I feel I made the right choice.
Great video. I also have dry, sensitive skin. I was wondering, would it be a good idea to alternate? THD most days and then 1 or 2 days a week, L-ascorbic acid? Of course, L-Ascorbic serums typically don’t have a very long shelf life… thanks in advance!
I suspect it would depend on your genetics and environmental factors. Did you always look young for your age? Do you live in a super dry or super humid climate? Did you bake in the sun? Did you get enough sleep, eat right, smoke, take care of your skin? Are you prone to hyperpigmentation? Those factors will determine your aging process. There isn’t a set formula that can determine aging. Look at your parents, how well did they age?
Very helpful. How do you know when your skin barrier is breaking down? Right now I'm using the Cerave C serum for the past several months and have had no issues, but also not sure I see any differences.
What are your thoughts on vitamin C from cocokind? I liked the vitamin c from derma e vitamin c but I wasn't consistent with it. I would like to get back to using vitamin C and being consistent with it but debating between those two brands.
Good morning. I am currently using the DRMTLGY vitamin CE &F but was thinking of going to the timeless 20% it is more affordable. Do you think it’s beneficial to apply a hyaluronic acid after applying the vitamin C and letting it dry first?
What about a derivative like MAP (supposedly stable, collagen boosting; hyperpigmentation/brightening; good for sensitive skin due to poor absorption, may work better combined)? I've also heard that ascorbyl glucoside might also work better combined with other derivatives like 3-O-ethyl as opposed to by itself (I believe Summer Fridays CC ME has a product that combines the two). I've also heard some cosmetic formulators say that the most studied/possibly reliable derivatives are MAP, SAP and THD. Speaking of which, drmtlgy has a product, vit c 5, that combines THD/SAP/MAP/AG/AP.
About Vitamin C, I haven't found any scientific evidence proving that it can reach the dermis. So, if it can't reach the dermis, I guess it won't have any effect on our collagen/elastin production. I'm not sure if my understanding is correct, but I've tried to find information and came up empty. Therefore, I currently don't believe Vitamin C is effective in this regard. At most, it might help reduce melanin formation a bit and provide some antioxidant benefits, but these have nothing to do with anti-aging. The real issue with anti-aging is the gradual breakdown and aging of collagen and elastin. This leads to increasingly thin and loose skin, causing it to appear saggy.
this was so helpful, thanks Dr!
Which vitamin c serum is best for dark under eye circles? I LOVR YOUR VIDEOS! I take notes! I have a skincare notebook!💖

Always love our videos! Can you make a makeup remover video. I'm so curious about best products that will help with dry skin.

@cam_2022, can you share the brand please

Vanicream one is literally the best!!!
I agree! It's the only one I have tried that doesn't oxidize on my skin and turn me orange
Thank you for the video, any tips on managing contact dermatitis? Any tips would be appreciated ❤
Thank you for the explanation.
Very clear.
I prefer Geek and Gorgeous Vitamin C (active form of Vitamin C) to Timeless.
Agree - that is such a good one! And Dermatology is on sale now, which is also very effective.
I've been using Prequel Lucent-C for several months and I really like it. The Timeless 20% was too strong for my skin.
Hello, please could you tell me what you think about Avène Vitamin ActivCg?
Geek and Gorgeous is the cheapest in the UK compared to others, but I dont see derms mention it so Im hesitant. Would love a look at ingredients
I appreciate your work. Thank you.
Dr. Locke, what percentage of aging is due to genetics versus environmental factors?
I suspect it would depend on your genetics and environmental factors.

Which is the best one for age spots?

How does the red light therapy effect lvl 1 and 2 rosacea?
what about Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate(VC-IP)?

Do you think it’s beneficial to apply a hyaluronic acid after applying the vitamin C and letting it dry first?
Between the PTR Potent-c serum and the Medik8 tetra luxe, which one do you think is better?
How does the Medik8 oil serum work with SPF? I thought oil was not supposed to be used before putting on sunscreen.
Is Vanicream still in your list?
Meaning the vanicream vitamin c
That’s the one I use 😊. I have sensitive skin
@@Crystal0139 me too!
How about 3-O ethyl ascorbic acid? L-ascorbic acid is fairly irritating for me.
I thought dropper bottles weren’t stable (for vit C)
How many days a week should you use this?
Every morning
Is it ok to use Vitamin C serum with retinoid at night?
U can use a derivative with retinoids at night not L Ascorbic acid though. THD is ok

Platinum skincare has a serum called High Octane Vitamin C
@@birdlover7776 There are so many vit c serums and vit c derivatives.
I'm 63 with lines around my mouth, forehead, and 11 lines between my eyes. I want to order the one you use. How many times a week should I use this?
She says I read the comments so please ask your questions but out of 41 comments I don’t see one answer from her??
