@@richardoteri9746With screens and lobs most definitely. But Gafford had the most blocks in the 2024 playoffs out of anyone by quite a margin, with a total of 33 Blocks. Out of the top 10 players in blocks during the Playoffs, 4 of them were on the Mavericks. I’m not even kidding. Jones Jr. at 6th place with 21 Lively at 7th place with 20 And PJ at 10th with 17 This is unprecedented stats and not single soul talks about it LMAO!
@@richardoteri9746That’s a total of 91 blocks between four players. Damn near 100 blocks in a single post season. Add Doncic’s 8 blocks and you’re sitting at 99 during the postseason.
@@seppuku- cause the mainstream media hate us😭 only people that will talk about good stats like that is the Mavs Community. Media wont give Mavs respect unless they win a chip, which is crazy cause we are the only ones held to that standard even with a Conference finals and Nba finals appearance - it’s ridiculous
Holy shit, his discipline NOT to hunt blocks is tremendous. What an understanding of his own height and knowing that alone might as be enough to alter shots, shared with an incredible timing, all hat just 19 years old. I´d go so far to say he has DPoY potential, like an upgraded version of Tyson Chandler. And dude has touch as well, he is going to be a threat from 3 in his third year as well. What a pick...
DLive and Jrue Holiday were the two best defenders in the postseason last year. Of course the finals showed his experience, but if he shows the defense he did in playoffs- he’s making one of the All Defense teams
Steepest rookie season learning curve we've seen in a while, his basketball IQ is pretty high. Plus the size, awareness, quick enough feet and the energy. If he stays healthy, there's no stopping him.
For sure man he’s got the seventh longest wingspan/reach in the league. He’s more agile than most centers so I would bump him up to the top 3 because the speed makes up for the lack of wingspan.
@@seppuku- you are right, he’s very quick on his feet for his size and his legs are crazy strong. he doesn’t budge when on post defense much and once he puts on a few extra pounds it’s a wrap. elite timing with his rim protection too and his energy around the basket on both ends acts as a deterrent (vicious swats instead of weaker blocks/only a hand up)
@@urihamilton1077 I can’t even imagine where he will be in 4 years. IMO he had a better rookie season than Chet, he was swept under the rug due to Wemby. And Chet was on the Thunder two seasons ago but didn’t play due to a foot injury I believe. So technically he wasn’t a rookie to the league, just a rookie to the fans and hardwood. And i’ve been following Chet since 2021 almost half a decade ago… When he was at a Steph Curry camp, I’ve been known about him yet I still think Lively is the better center. But Chet is a better stretch 5 big, but i’m not sure for how long he will maintain that, as i’ve seen clips and heard rumors of Kidd making Lively and Gafford practice Threes.
If he is gone be healthy i think he will be a top 10 center this year.
lol he was the best center in the playoffs bar porz. He will be top 5 if healthy
@@richardoteri9746 Even better.

He may not win DPOY anytime soon because of Wemby. But he definitely has the potential to be an annual all defensive team guy.

Good Lord. Lively's 1st Season at the age of 19 and he's already been to NBA Finals. 🤩

Great wingspan, vertical and timing. He learned well from Tyson Chandler.

Generational center that doesn't get the hype because he can't dribble like a guard.

sucks that Luka Doncic will waste this young man's career with his ball hogging skills
